Is it getting hot in here cause I think so can we talk about the yummy Cover beside the author writes a amazing story
Sadly, this book was meh. Alice was sort of okay, but Derek was just annoying.
So i did not feel their chemistry at all.
Once again, Nancy draws you in with interesting characters, good dialogue and nicely done suspense. Alice Thurber may come across as a meek and unassuming bookkeeper but shows what she is made of as the story moves along. Derek Killion is a brilliant accountant, wealthy and, of course, gorgeous and sexy. Together they embark on a suspenseful journey to solve what should have been a simple little discrepancy. And what a journey it is! Along the way, we are introduced to a number of characters (including two rather amazing cats!), and 'share' in some historical romance daydreams. Alice and Derek have intense chemistry and together they sizzle! Besides good suspense, the story has humor, emotion and passion (and cats! Did I mention cats?)
It’s a few questionable amounts in the cash receipts; repetitive, but very slight that pique Alice Thurber's curiosity, having her reach out to Derek Killion. His specialty is finance and represents the “K” in KRG Consulting Group, a large, wealthy firm headed by one Derek Killion with a killer smile that suits Alice’s historical romance daydreams just fine. Derek Killion and his two partners, computer genius Leland Rockwell and former FBI agent attorney Tully Gibson, established the Small Business Initiative to help overcome some of the small businesses' troubles in their desire to give back. . At first, Derek thinks this should be a relatively simple "fix," but he is very wrong. There's much more to this mystery than an accounting error or computer glitch. As the danger grows, so does the quickly escalating high-tech crime, dangerous pursuit and attraction between the two. Nancy Herkness never fails to write a good story with complex, relatable characters, emotional intrigue and, naturally, romance. With good pacing from the beginning to end, The Money Man delivers.
Great mix of suspense, brains, and sexy times. Both Alice and Derek are non-traditional heroes in the romance world because let's face it, accountants aren't usually sexy. Nancy Harkness finds a way to change that and makes the usually boring profession seem sexy and exciting. The story moves quickly and the suspenseful part of the story is well constructed and paced. I recommend to anyone who loves romantic suspense.
Oh the Money Man how I adored you! I loved going on Alice & Derek’s journey! This will definitely will be a book I read again!
I voluntarily reviewed this book.

I struggled a little with this one.
I liked Alice and I liked Derek, but I am not sure I really liked them together. And, I am not even totally sure as to why. All of the elements for me to like this were in place, but for some reason, I just didn't connect with them fully.
I am not able to recommend this title.
I love a romance that brings in unexpected elements, like a career I would necessarily associate with the genre, Accounting definitely fits the bill. Perhaps not what I would usually go for during tax time, so I avoided it for a while, but then I read the second book in this series and decided to come back to this one. Good writing, great cast of characters and now I'm looking forward to Tully's story.
I was provided an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I’d like to start my review by saying the author presented as knowledgeable of cyber fraud and accounting practices. One of my pet peeves is when an author writes about a subject with glaring inaccuracies that most laymen can spot. The novel was well-written with good pacing but the ending presents as more of a comedy of errors (there’s a kidnapping that just isn’t realistic) than the climatic conclusion I was expecting. What was also missing for me was a sense of real passion and chemistry between the main characters. I think this book works for those wanting a romantic suspense that isn’t too suspenseful.
I loved every second of reading this book, honestly couldn't put it down. This was just the kind of entertaining read I needed at this moment. I would definitely recommend it.
The money man is told from duel points of view from Alice and Derek. I like this style of writing so I can know what both characters are thinking and feeling.
Alice is a New Jersey small business bookkeeper. She notices some small discrepancies the businesses she's bookkeeping for. She reaches out to a high powered consulting company and they offer to help her pro-bono.
Derek is one of the cofounders of KRG and promises to help small business owners in trouble. He takes on Alice's case. As they start to investigate into the software Alice uses feelings start to develop between the two.
Derek and Alice work together to figure out what is going on with the software Alice is using. Can they solve the problem in time? Will their feelings continue to grow or will it all settle when Derek leaves for his trip.
I really enjoyed this book, and can't wait for the next one in the series!
This was okay. It’s a fast paced romance novel with a dash of suspense/action. But somehow I didn’t feel any zing from either MC.
Honestly? I found them a tad boring and I’m a financial analyst like them!!! So while I appreciated and could relate to all the accounting stuff, I was just meh about them as a couple. In fact, at times, their inner thoughts got too corny/cheesy for me.
Normally, if a book has an epilogue, me being an epilogue junky, I subconsciously gives more “swoony points” to a book. But this book’s epilogue was too contrived for me that I deducted swoony points from it’s score. Just not my thing. *shudder/cringe* Sorry.
Leland, one of the H’s partners, seems way more interesting to me. I love a sexy nerd.
I absolutely loved this romance! the main characters had great chemistry, and the secondary characters added some great texture to the plot. Can't wait to read the next in the series.
There was nothing not to love about this book. Derek and Alice were perfect for each other and their story had the just right amount of suspense to keep you on your toes. Herkness creates characters that are so grounded and relatable that it is impossible not to become invested in their story. I never turn down the opportunity to read a book by this author.

This was a very strong entry with a woman discovering by accident a glitch in the accounting she had been doing for her firm. She was one who loved numbers and figuring things out.
Enter a security manager who was able to see where the hack was, but also fell for this woman.
Together they fight the bad guys and also end up finding something more between them.
I liked Alice and Derek, the heroine and hero of this book. I liked the premise of this series too and am looking forward to reading more in this series.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
The Money Man by Nancy Herkness tempted me to read it through the gorgeous cover and a very interesting blurb
The story is of Alice Thurber a bookkeeper from a small town who happens to find a few dollars discrepancy in her clients accounts. All of these were using a newly launched accounting software and she is trying to find the source of the glitch. In an effort to understand this and solve it she appraches Derek Killions KRG who had an initiative of helping small businesses. This small glitch leads to both of them meeting and having a crush on each other which slowly progresses to love. In this journey they stir up a massive fraud and to know how they both tackle it is to read the story.
The things I liked in the book....Both the main protagonists, Alice and Derek although I felt Alice seemed a bit more confused and unsure. The friendship each of them have in their lives. How they tackle the fraud, always at an equal never with a Hero saves the heroine type.
I would have loved to see Alice being more sure of herself. Her character journey was good.
This is a good blend of romance and thrill, romance a bit more than thrill. This is a book that you can enjoy as a light read that takes you away from any current situation and puts a smile on your face a bit of thrill in your heart .
I received an eArC of this book via Netgalley and I thank the publishers for the same. The opinions expressed are entirely mine!

Alice owns her own small accounting business where she has several clients. When she talks them into changing over from paper files to a new software program, she thinks it will make things easier for everyone. But after a few dollars short here and there, she tries to contact the software company for answers, but she gets no help from them. She notices an offer for help from the larger than life accounting firm KRG.
Derek lands one of the biggest accounts of his career and their company’s too. But the excitement he used to feel just isn't there. But when he gets an email regarding help from a small business owner, the excitement is back. Derek goes to help Alice himself; he feels it will be something quick. But when he is stumped, he pulls in his partner to help.
There is more going on here than either of them realizes. Can Derek help Alice find the problem without stirring up trouble? Will Alice be able to spend time with Derek and not fall for him? Can they solve the missing money problem and steer clear of the danger coming their way?
This is a first for me from this author and I look forward to reading more from her. This story is filled with lust, love, and suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end because you will have to know what happens. I hope you enjoy this one too.

This is the first in a new series, and I am definitely looking forward to future installments. I enjoyed the level of world building and the introduction to the men who started and are super successful in their business. I like that they each have their own specialisms, and yet that they work closely and support each other. Here Derek, the money man, gets his chance at love... and it is brilliant how the author manages to make him sexy even if his profession would suggest otherwise. In fact, I loved how even he is surprised at Alice being a bookkeeper and yet also young and desirable. Throw in the cheeky play on words regarding statistics and this was just the story I would have loved to have written.
The plot centres around Alice using new accounting software which has caused her to find a number of small errors. She is quite certain that there are no errors in her work, indeed she repeats them manually to check... This turns into a massive, dangerous issue – and is really well constructed. It gives Derek a chance to give support to a small business, as he is somewhat jaded about his never-ending work schedule.
Together they work to solve the mystery and stop the crime... and in the process develop a strong affinity for each other and indulge in the pleasure that they offer each other. It is intelligent, romantic, and gives both of them an understanding of what they had been missing out on in their career focused lives.
A slightly slow start, but soon got really good – recommended!
Nancy Herkness does it again! I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Loved the aspect of a small-time accountant finding clues that lead to a much, much, much larger crime and the fact that the lead male character didn't just blow her findings off. He actually listened--something that, very often, doesn't happen. Highly recommend to lovers of romantic suspense and those who love to follow every clue, no matter how small.

Confession time...I didn’t read the blurb for Nancy Herkness’s The Money Man. Since becoming a fan of Nancy a few years ago, I just wanted to read the book. I was pleasantly surprised by several things. The Money Man contains a little suspense and both the hero and heroine are accountants!
Alice Thurber isn’t a risk-taker. After growing up in an unsteady, unreliable family, Alice turned to numbers because they were consistent and made sense. Alice owns and runs a small bookkeeping company out of her home in New Jersey. After switching several of her clients over to a new accounting software, she starts to notice little small inconsequential shortfalls in the numbers. After coming up empty as to why this was happening, Alice turns to KRG Consulting Group and their Small Business Initiative, aimed to help small businesses in need.
Derek Killion’s specialty is finance. He represents the “K” in KRG Consulting Group. He never wants to let the fact that the company is now a high-powered consulting firm known worldwide distract him and his partners from their humble beginnings. As a way to honor those who helped them succeed and give back, Derek convinces his partners Leland Rockwell and Tully Gibson to create the KRG Small Business Initiative. Derek is weeks away from having to leave the country on an extended business trip, but when the first request comes into the SBI for help, he doesn’t want to pass it off to one of his partners. Thinking the shortfall is an easy fix, he contacts Alice to meet with her, never expecting she’s about to throw a curveball into his well structured and planned out life.
As Alice and Derek look into the accounting discrepancy, they soon find out there’s more going on than meets the eye. One innocent question on Alice’s part puts her in the crosshairs of a dangerous madman set on revenge. As time runs out, Derek and Alice are going to have learn to be creative in their quest to save their lives and the livelihoods of hundreds.
The Money Man was a book I could not put down. Alice and Derek each prove you can’t judge a book by its cover. Their attraction and connection are instant. I loved the surprise of this being a romance with suspense elements. I loved even more that I was on the edge of my seat, wondering what was going to happen. The main characters of the second and third books have already been introduced. I’m looking forward to seeing how those stories play out, with the heroes being a computer whiz and a security expert.
