There are triggers like child abuse and rape, I give this book five stars
I liked this book with all its twists and turns. It wasn't predictable and it was actually something different than the books I have read in the past few years. I rate it a 4.2
Most of this felt formulaic, but the twist (which came maybe 20 or 30 pages later than I would gave liked) both shunted things into place nicely and wasn't entirely route.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author, for an ARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review.
I thought this was a well written, original, addictive and twisty thriller that had me reading way past my bedtime.
I can’t wait to read what this author writes next.
Alex and his wife Mina have only been married a short time, but when he broaches the subject of starting a family, Mina takes off and won't answer his messages. After a few days of silence, Alex decides to go to the cabin where Mina goes to write her romance novels. She has always liked her solitary time at the cabin, often forgetting to charge her phone. but when he gets there, she is gone and has left her wedding ring behind. In his search for answers, a friend gives him a manuscript Mina had been working on that was very different from her typical romance novels. This story may be more truth than fiction, and what Alex reads is very shocking. Is this the secret about her past that Mina has been keeping from him?
Full of twists and turns, this book kept me guessing. The relationship between Mina and her mother in private was so messed up. She was expected to be perfect, never showing flaws to the world and especially the members of their church. I thought about this book long after I finished it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. The views and opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.
They have been married one year. One year and his wife disappeared. She is a famous author. She writes smutty love stories of which he has never read. Nonetheless he is proud of his wife.
He loves her dearly and is deeply concerned that no one has seen her in a while.
After contacting as many of her friends and acquaintances that he can think of he finally files a missing report.
The things he is about to discover about his wife are disturbing, secretive, and totally surprising to him.
Nonetheless he is determined to find out where she could possibly be. No matter who he takes down with him. No matter the consequences.
Great read! Strong characters and amazing ending.
Long story short, I really enjoyed this book! Much more than I anticipated. There are so many twists and AHA! moments that is makes you want to continue reading just to figure out where the story will go next.
The story begins with a very newly married couple; a business man and an acclaimed author. The wife does not answer her husband's calls or texts and family and friends haven't heard from her in a while. Nothing to worry about because she typically goes off radar while creating new books. Husband goes to her writing cabin only to find a wine glass with her lipstick and her wedding ring in a dish. Then the story takes off on a wild ride! Each chapter takes you from present to past (or is it present or future?) alternating the voice from the husband to a young woman named Maggie.
I won't say more for fear of ruining some of the fun.
The story is very well paced; S.F. Kosa really knows how to keep the reader engaged! I'll be looking for more from this author to add to my shelf.
Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy of The Quiet Girl!
Good girls are quiet girls... Man, did this book take a turn I didn’t see coming... Alex goes to his wife Mina’s cottage in Cape Cod to find her missing. Her wedding rings have been left in her room, her car gone, no one’s seen her since the Monday before. At first, you’d think maybe Mina has taken off, left on her own, but Alex doesn’t believe it. Enter Layla aka Maggie. Maggie disappeared for a few months, acting as Layla, before being found and forced back into her normal life, home with mother Ivy. But what is the connection between Maggie and Mina? I can tell you, it won’t be what you think! When I figured it out I had to go back and read a few sentences just to make sure what I was reading/thinking was accurate. A great twist to the story and I really enjoyed the authors style of writing, not to mention this story taking place practically in my backyard (Yay for MA-based books)! Definitely recommend!

The book took a few twists I really wasn’t expecting, which took it up from 3 to 3.5 rounded up. The writing and the character development is not amazing but you keep turning pages to find out what will happen next.
This was a fast paces thriller that I flew threw in one setting!!! Wow! Devoured this book from the first page, I read a review that said go into this one blind and that's exactly what I did! I've never read this author before but I think I should add her to my list. This one is reminiscent of The Silent Patient but better!!!
Thanks to Netgalley for my advanced ebook copy!
High praise for this amazing thriller that kept me guessing until the very end! This book was so well developed that I just couldn't put it down. Thinking how damaging and life-altering childhood secrets can be made me very proud of my "momma" skills while I raised my three children. Those people that have suffered and have the courage to seek help, I sincerely tip my hat to you. I truly enjoyed walking through Layla's life learning more and more about her with each turn of the page. It is really true - the saying - You can't and won't ever REALLY know a person. This book did a fantastic job of illustrating just how dynamic and powerful a child's upbringing is to their future, whether it was a great or devastating childhood. Excellent book!
The Quiet Girl is a great domestic thriller/mystery with a strong plot line and wonderful character development!

This girl is well and truly gone. Alex has come to Provincetown to mend fences with his new wife, but she seems to have disappeared in mid air. With her wedding ring left behind, police suspect the bride simply flew the coop, but Alex doesn’t believe it and begins his own search. When he meets Layla, Alex believes he may have found the key to unlock his wife’s secrets, but Layla has a troubled past of her own. Alex may soon find he should have let sleeping dogs lie. I like the fact that this novel centers around the husband, who seems to have no involvement in his wife’s disappearance, it’s a clever and sophisticated domestic thriller.
