Perfect little taster - I’m really looking forward to finding out how Sloan, Jason, and Tucker find their HEA. 4 out of 5.

A nice premise for this book and bringing the dog in was a nice touch. However, the first conversation the characters ever have is on the phone and while it's intended as flirty comes off as creepy and sexual harassment. The banter was immediate and out of place (asking more about the health and safety of the dog should take precedence?), and it came off as very out of place. Would have made more sense if they became friendly and then started flirting. I found it very off-putting.

I loved Abby Jimenez's last book The Friend Zone and was so excited to check out her one, The Happy Ever After Playlist! I love how relatable and real every character Abby Jimenez writes are and how her books are always both emotionally deep and romantic and funny. The premise of this story I believe is even better and more emotionally charged and deeper than her last. I only received a partial copy of her new book from Netgalley but what I read was just as wonderful as her last and I can’t wait until I can read the rest!

I just finished reading The Friend Zone when I saw this preview on #netgalley. I was already invested in Sloan's story from The Friend Zone so it was easy to fall into this preview. I am glad the author did her story because she was a likeable character. I will be picking up this book immediately to continue on after reading this excerpt. I was sad when it ended and I need to know how this unfolds. The guy that came into Sloan's life sounds like just what she needs to pull her out from her sadness. I am hoping the dog was sent to her by Brandon. I can't wait to find out! Thank you to #netgalley for an ARC. #TheHappyEverAfterPlaylistExtendedPreview #NetGalley

Update

The Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jimenez is the second book about best friends, Kristen Petersen and Sloan Monroe. The first book The Friend Zone was Kristen’s book and this one is Sloan’s, this one could be read as a stand-alone but I really enjoyed both books and recommend them. I received an ARC of this book to read after reading the extended preview on NetGalley. I was hooked and sent out a begging request to read the rest of it onto social media and happily for me my request was answered. This is the first time in a very long time that I’ve read a physical book and I have to say it was kind of nice. Sloan Monroe has spent the last 2 years as a faint shadow of herself, her fiancee was killed while riding his motorcycle by a drunk driver and her grief has been overwhelming. She rescues a stray dog named Tucker when he hops into her car through her sun roof and he rescues her right back. Tucker’s owner Jason Larsen is in Australia and when he turns his phone back on after a backpacking trip he finds out that his beloved dog has been in Sloans care for two weeks. They develop a friendship while messaging back and forth and when Jason returns to California he is smitten with Sloan.
Sloan while making her way slowly out of her grief is not so sure and one of the things I liked most about Jason as a hero is his patience, he never tries to rush her or make her feel that how she is feeling is wrong. He accepts her just as she is. Jason’s career as famous musician Jaxon Waters is going to throw a wrench into their relationship though, he’s about to leave on a 14-month world tour, and all of the craziness that comes with that is something they will have to make work in order to have a Happy Ever after. This story has all the feels with a nice balance of humour and angst. Medium Steam. Publishing date. April 14, 2020. #NetGalley #TheHappyEverAfterPlayList #WickedWallflowers #ForeverGrandCentralPublishing #HachetteBookGroup #ContemporaryRomance #RockStarRomance #bookstagram

I broke my never read a preview when you don’t have access to the entire book rule last night. I read the extended preview of The Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jimenez when it was offered on NetGalley. Thinking it would be perfect to read just before bed. Big mistake, it was so good and I wanted more so badly that I was awake half the night plotting ways to get to read the rest. I love both Sloan and Jason and of course Tucker is such an awesome dog. I have no idea how I will make it to April without reading the rest … #TheHappyEverAfterPlaylist #NetGalley #ForeverGrandCentralPublishing #AbbyJimenez

Silly me was excited and didn’t pay attention to the “preview” note so of course I’m headed now to get the rest of the book because I can’t put it down! So so good so far! It’s a 5-star preview! Can’t wait for the rest of it!

his book was perfect for taking my mind off of things! I was in a major book slump and could not concentrate on reading, but The Happy Ever After Playlist did the trick for me. I started listening to the audiobook and it instantly grabbed my attention.
The story starts off with showing Sloan two years after Brandon's accident. She hasn't recovered from the death yet and her happiness arrives in the form of a dog. In lieu of reuniting Tucker with his owner brings Jason into her life. They communicate with each other over texts and cannot deny their chemistry when they finally meet.
Each chapter starts off with the name of a song (which I loved cos there were quite a few favorites of mine). Sloan's depression and emotions are portrayed exceptionally well, where you can see how torn she feels over someone new in her life. The character development, the chemistry and the overall story is really well written, especially in the first half of the book. The second half was slightly tedious and some of the plot points seemed unnecessary, but do not take anything away from the story. There's enough mention of Kristen and Josh to keep The Friend Zone fans satiated, but I liked this book way more than TFZ.

All in all, the perfect book to read in times of a pandemic cos we all want to read happy things right now

This is only an extended preview so I can't review the book. So far, I really liked the writing style but I'm a little nervous about the premise. I'm not sure I can buy a heroine who refuses to give back a dog to the rightful owner. Hopefully, that resolves itself in a satisfactory manner later in the book.

I was happy to receive the extended preview and I cannot wait to get my hands on the full read. I was pulled in from the start...Sloane's story has captivated me and I cannot wait to see where she and Tucker go. This will be my first Abby Jimenez read, but already I can tell I like her style of writing - seems like I'm listening to a girlfriend tell me a really great story!

It's hard to rate an extended preview, but so far the book seems promising. After the surprising turn in The Friend Zone, I knew that Sloane deserved her HEA and I was really excited to learn that Abby Jimenez had decided that same thing. With publication so close, to say I'm excited to see where things go is an understatement. So far, I like where we see Sloan two years after Brandon's death. She's still mourning him, and probably always will in some way, but I like that we're seeing her begin to come out of the shell she built around herself. I love getting to see this side of Sloan and I love the contrast between her and Kristen. Two completely different characters! So I'd say based on this preview, so far so good. Give me more!!

Soooo I read The Friend Zone twice last year and loved it and I just reread it again. I was really exited when I saw The Happy Ever After Playlist on here as a preview. I have already pre ordered the book and am sooo excited to read it, now even more so since I have tasted a sample of it. I’m super thrilled that Kristen and Josh are in this book as well. I can’t wait to finish it!

Unfortunately this was only a preview! So far so good! There is good chemistry between Sloan and Jason very early on. Can’t wait until April 14th to buy the book!

This extended preview just makes me want to read the book even more! I’ll admit, I read “The Friend Zone” where Sloan was the best friend and when I heard she was getting her own book after her fiancé died, I could not imagine how this would be a fun rom com. Glad I was wrong. This book is funny right away and I can’t wait to see more of Sloan and Jason. I can’t wait to read the full book!

Thank you Forever Publishing and NetGalley for the preview of this title. I adore the Sloan and Jason and their banter. Although I caught myself smiling as I read, I know Sloan will pull on my heart. I can’t wait to read more. I placed my preorder..

Thank you to Netgalley for the advance electronic preview of this book! I am so excited to continue this story. I really enjoyed The Friend Zone and I can't wait to get back to these characters again and see what happens next. The first few chapters already have me hooked.

Romance is definitely not my genre but Sloan has to be one of the most relatable characters I've ever read. This preview actually makes me want to read a romance book. It has sarcasm, relatability, mentions of YouTube. What's not to like?

This is my first Abby Jimenez book so I had no idea what to expect, but there's so much hype and amazing reviews around this book so I had to read this preview. Now I can't wait to read the full book!
