Opening with an epic meet cute, Jimenez sets the tone for the perfect rom-com. However, after starting the sample, I quickly abandoned it to read Jimenez’s debut (The Friend Zone) and I’m glad I did. because I was able to appreciate the story that much more. Fans of Kristen and Josh will be thrilled with this book. The couple get lots of page time because they are Sloan’s support system as she navigates her grief and her new relationship.
What I love is how carefully Jimenez pens Sloan—she is a character that is completely broken by grief and is simply existing. I encourage you to read the incredibly touching inspiration for this book in the acknowledgments.
This book has all the feels, it is emotional, raw, and just plain funny. I adored the witty banter and Jimenez has an impeccable ear for dialogue. The Happy Ever After Playlist is heartfelt, flirty, and fun.
Cannot wait to read the entire book!!! Excited to read Sloanes journey and see what happens with her! One of my most anticipated books of the year!
It is two years after Brandon's accident and Sloan's pilgrimage to the cemetery is interrupted by a dog jumping through her sunroof. When Sloan finally contacts the dogs owner he is half a continent away. And cute. And funny. And single. And I can't wait for the rest of the book!
I absolutely loved the preview of this book and cannot wait for its’ release! I really hope I’m able to scoop up an advance copy on netgalley, because I’m not sure I can wait until April to read it!
In the first few chapters, I fell in love with Tucker, the dog of course and felt so connected to Sloan!
It’s a well-paced read with a storyline that hooks you right away. Looking forward to seeing what happens with Sloan, Jason and most of all, Tucker (please don’t let anything sad happen to this sweet baby angel)!
Abby Jimenez is QUEEN! The Friend Zone was my favorite read of 2019 and when I found out that Sloan was getting her own story I just could not wait. Abby is an amazing writer who builds upon likeable characters.
Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for this amazing preview of the best 2020 release! I cannot wait to read the whole thing.
The Friend Zone was one of my favorite romance reads of 2019 and I have been anticipating the release of The Happy Ever After Playlist ever since. As soon as I started reading this preview I couldn't stop - and now my eagerness for the April 14th release date has skyrocketed. What happened to Sloan towards the end of The Friend Zone broke my heart and I'm so happy that we get to read her story now. I absolutely loved the banter that started immediately between Sloan and Jason and I can't wait to see how their relationship develops. I also really enjoyed getting to see Kristen and Josh make appearances after falling in love with them in The Friend Zone.
Ahhh I cannot wait to read The Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jimenez! I already know this is going to be one of my favourite reads of 2020.
Thank you for the extended preview!
Okay, this sounds like something I would love. A) I'm a dog person. B) The banter between Sloan and Jason is fantastic. I can't wait to read more.
I received an advanced preview of this book. I loved the author’s first book and can tell this one will also be great. The writing is quick and easy to read and the characters are lovable. I can’t wait to see where Sloan goes now as she recovers from the loss of her fiancé.
I really liked the start of this! I've been looking forward to this book as soon as I heard there was a follow-up to The Friend Zone. This preview just made me even more antsy to read the full thing!
I first started following Abby on social media because of her bakery Nadia Cakes. She's hilarious and witty so when she started talking about her first book, The Friend Zone, I knew I needed to get it. I've purchased two books (the second because I "needed" an autographed one), one digital book and one audio book and have read/listened to the story at least a half dozen times.
I'd already pre-ordered The Happy Ever After Playlist when Abby told us an extended preview was available. I knew I'd love it because her writing style and characters are the best I've ever read. I have to say I think I already love this story more than the first book. A few chapters in and I'm already fully invested in Sloan's story. It's going to be tough waiting until April 14th to finish the story. Is it weird that I've already looked at the calendar and debated taking the 15th off so I can stay up and finish it all in one night?!
I hope Abby has continues to write many stories so I can get my fix. That's the only downside to devouring her books, once I'm done I have to wait an undefined amount of time for the next one. Thank God she's always posting funny stories to social media to keep my going :)
I finished the extended preview in record time and I’m so sad that I can’t finish. I can tell this book will be like The Friend Zone and I’ll struggle putting it down.
I need more. Now! The dialogue makes me want to be friends with Sloane and Kristen, the text flirtation (flirttextion) has me missing the early stages of any relationship. If the rest of the book is as good as these first six chapters, Abby Jimenez is guaranteed to have another bestseller on her hands.
What a great start! Well paced, with spot-on-humor, The Happy Ever After Playlist is instantly engaging and I am thrilled to read the full book. The premise, Sloan and Jason meet because of his dogs antics, is fun and fresh. By the third chapter, I was already laughing out loud and full invested with both main characters. Loving it so far!
OMG. I just got to read the extended preview and I cannot wait to read the whole book. These characters are so real - they’re flawed and human and wonderful, and I just cannot wait to watch Sloan fall in love.
This preview was the perfect length to hook any potential readers! I can’t wait to see how the rest of this book plays out in just a short while
Read the neak peek of 6 chapters. If possible, it is even better then TFZ. The dialogue is fast, witty and relatable. Her characters become real people to the reader so quickly. You don't want it to end because these are your friends now.
I have been reading the romance genre since I was 16 (I'm pushing 54 now.) I know a good book when I see one. This is a great one! My only complaint (other than not having the rest of the book) is that it took Abby this long in her life to realize she was a writer. I feel the world was deprived of access to her amazing twisted, hilarious mind for way too long.
I will be haunting my Kindle waiting for it to download the pre-sale HEAP I already bought.
OMG! What an amazing tease! Can’t wait for this book to come out and Keep enjoying these characters and their amazing banter. The Friend Zone was amazing but this one might just top it.
I loved this preview! As a fan of “The Friend Zone”, I just had to read this one. While it’s not appropriate for my elementary students, it’s the perfect romance for adult readers, and I’m glad I was given the chance to read it. Is it April yet?
Abby Jimenez’s writing flows like lyrics to your favorite song. As the story unfolds you can not help but, fall in love with the characters. The Happy Ever After Playlist will be a top contemporary romance novel of 2020.
