Although this was a short sample, it had me laughing out loud! I loved the formatting of the text messages throughout with a song title at the beginning of each chapter which set the mood for the following pages. The story line is compelling, and I really liked the characters. They all seem incredibly likeable and the romance aspect is perfectly written. I can't wait to continue reading this book!
I’ve heard a lot about this book and this author so I thought I’d give the preview a try before buying the whole book. Really good start and definitely peaked my interest. Off to read the who;e book now!!
This book starts with the most amazing meet cute, which involves a dog, need I say more? Sloan ends up saving Jasons dog while he is out of the country, which begins a string of texts and phone calls. The texts and phone calls shared between Sloan and Jason had me smiling and laughing the entire time. The banter between Sloan and Jason is immaculate and I can already tell there is amazing chemistry between them. I can’t wait to purchase the full novel to continue this cute and sexy book!
I absolutely adored this book, I picked up the full copy after reading the preview! Sloan is such a strong wonderful main character and I loved to see her find herself again after unbelievable tragedy! I also loved that we got the check in on how Kristen and Josh were doing from the first book!
Loved it and think this is a great continuation on from the first book. Can’t wait to pick up the whole book!
Abby has done it again! Abby’s debut novel The Friend Zone introduced us to Sloan Monroe, and here we see her 2 years later.
Let me first say I used to read constantly – and for whatever reason….well life happened…..and there was this lady that owned this cupcake shop that was coming out with this book called “The Friend Zone” and it was so hyped up and who could resist it because cupcakes and books 😊 So I preordered it and rediscovered my love of reading in a matter of minutes literally. That was almost a year ago and I haven’t stopped reading since! Thank you, Abby. I didn’t think it was possible to get a book that was better than Kristen and Josh but holy guacamole on all the tacos this book is amazing!
I received an ARC of The Happy Ever After Playlist and was hooked from the first chapter! Sloan is dealing with the loss of Brandon and while this may be a work of fiction, this story will resonate so thoroughly with so many that are dealing/have dealt with the loss of a loved one. It’s complicated as the story goes, but along comes Tucker. Tucker is owned by Jason; who we find out is from Minnesota. Being from Minnesota myself I loved this book and all of its true Minnesota references! It’s refreshing to have an author get it right (even in fiction where things don’t have to be).
My first moment that I thought I needed some serious support while reading was quickly helped out by the Zombie Apocalypse (whew crisis averted).
You won’t go wrong by reading this book. If you didn’t think anyone could be perfect for Sloan after Brandon, you’re wrong. It’s Jason. He’s perfect. He’s the perfect match for Sloan after Brandon and Abby knew it all along.
I loved this book! Abby brings her characters to life - they are believable people, not just empty shells conforming to stereotypes. Even though I was sure I knew how it would end (it is a romance book after all), the twists and turns on the way kept me riveted. I couldn't put this book down.
The Happy Ever After Playlist ***Extended Preview*** by Abby Jimenez was an absolutely delightful read. Each chapter has the tone set by popular song titles that fits in perfectly with the theme of each chapter. Through an unexpected series of misadventures a single woman who has suffered a great tragedy, Sloan, ends up with a dog that quickly wins her heart. Sloan valiantly tries to find the owner, but when it appears the dog is truly a stray she quickly gives her heart away to the dog Tucker. Tucker has a bit of a complex ownership actually and is not truly a stray. The gyrations of Sloan trying to heal from her great loss has you rooting for her to find love again with Tucker’s true owner, Jason. But, it is not a typical romantic comedy and you are kept guessing by Jimenez. Do not read this book if you are hungry! The food descriptions will have you raiding your refrigerator and even more inspired to make something delicious. I was provided an advance reader copy by Net Galley, the opinions are my own.
This book was amazing! It was a roller coaster of emotions for me v without giving anything away, it hit way close to home at the end and it really helped me heal. Can not wait for all the other books by Abby!
Abby does it again with this fabulous read. As a reader you are sucked into the lives of the main characters in a good way. You will not want the book to end. I love how she has interwoven the characters from her first book into Happily Ever After and introduced characters that will be in the third book.
This book was amazing! It was the perfect sequel to The Friend Zone. I didn't think I could love any book as much, but Abby did it again!
Damn Abby. This woman just really knows how to give your heart one hell of an emotional roller coaster ride. I legit snorted and laughed out loud at multiple points in this book! 🤣🤣 but I also sobbed my eyes out at the end, because she just knows how to get you in the feels 😭😭. I even cried during the author’s notes at the end. This was an awesome follow up to The Friend Zone (although we know this one was really written first 🤗). Abby’s style of writing is so easy going and snappy that you’re just sucked in from the start. Love these characters, and I can’t wait to hear some snippets of them in the new book next year. The wait is going to suck though 😮
Love this book! Abby has a way of bringing her characters to life and making them seem like your best friend. Her books are filled with emotion and will keep you wanting to read more.
Thank you Forever and Netgalley for the extended preview!!
This was just very adorable from the first chapter, and it only got cuter as I read on. It quickly pulled me in, and I like both Sloan and Jason so far, they have chemistry so far and their conversations were fun, I liked the hints of a budding friendship (and maybe more) that I saw. I know there's more to delve into here, especially with Sloan still dealing with many things after her fiancé's death, but I have a feeling there will be a balance between the light and emotional moments and it'll continue to be an adorable and sweet read!! 4 stars for these couple of chapters❤️
She’s done it again! The Happy Ever After Playlist is fantastic! I laughed, I cried, I went through so many emotions. I wanted to keep reading to see what happened but I also didn’t want it to end. I can’t wait to see what Abby creates next!
I read this preview in January but read the book later.
Abby did it again, she took me out of a depressing place with an amazing story! Coronavirus took every ounce of positivity in my life, this is exactly what I needed to cheer up and disconnect myself from reality a bit. OMG! Just when I thought the whole story couldn’t get any better!!!! Abby knows exactly how to write a lovable hero and a badass heroine. I was cheering for Jason and Sloan all the way, loved how real Sloan’s mourning was and how understandable and loving Jason was towards her! And I truly enjoyed knowing how Josh, Kristen and Oliver were doing. TFZ and HEAP are certainly on my top favorites.
This book was a wonderful read. The second book written by author, Abby Jimenez. You didn’t need to read the first book to understand and fall in love with this book although if you did you learned more from the characters. From the beginning this book pulls you in and makes you want to learn more. Sloan and Jason are written as normal people that you may be able to relate to while reading. This book was amazing and I definitely recommend.
This was so fun!! I'm giving it 5 stars, definitely don't pass this book up!
I borrowed the first book, The Friend Zone, from my local library so that I'd go into this book knowing what was going on. I'm glad I did because the last part of Friend Zone is so essential to this book; I feel like it just flows better as one big book, switching POVs in the middle, instead of two separate books. I do see why it's split into separate books though, it makes sense... Just keep in mind that the end of Friend Zone is really just the actual beginning of Playlist, okie dokie?
Anyway, now that we've cleared that up, I really need to tell you - this book had me alllll up in my feelings: laughing like A LOT, but then also gritting my teeth in frustration, biting my nails n shit, sitting on the edge of my seat all teary eyed during the misunderstandings/miscommunications between Sloan and Jason (that are seriously so realistic they could happen to anybody!) And fucking hell, that twist with Lola!! Omg you guys, I never saw that one coming! lol I guarantee you won't either 😉
Soooo 🤔 Kristen and Josh or Jason and Sloan... Which couple is your favorite?? Cuz I definitely can't choose! Both of these books are amazing and on my All-Star shelf on Goodreads. You're missing out if you don't make this series your next RomCom read 💯
Thank you netgalley for giving me a the PDF so that I can share my opinions with y'all 💛
This is the 2nd in a series and I loved getting to know Sloan more. Cute story of how a dog plays a part her life to meet Tucker and fall in love. The song playlist was fun and a way to interconnect the storylines.
After reading the author's debut novel and falling in love with it, I had to read her second novel. This book is surely one of my most anticipated books of the year.
To begin with, I have to say that I feel very different about the first half of this book than the last. The first ~50% is pure joy, SWOON and masterful dialogue. THE BANTER OMFG. And not only that, but they have to share custody of a dog and I LOVED IT. I was smiling the whole time and if it had gone that way it would've been one of my favs of the year.
However after the middle the story got too dramatic and I just wanted to be done with it. At the same time there was a communication problem which got pretty frustrating.
It's pretty clear that the author is very talented. The romance here was top-notch, the dialogue fantastic and I would still recommend it even for the first half.
