This is my first book by this author but I enjoyed it so much! I devoured the book in two days. The writing, the characters and the plot were all great. I recommend the book to a friend and they read it immediately and loved it as well. I will read anything this author writes!
I really enjoyed this preview and look forward to finishing the rest of the book. It looks likes it is building onto something that will be pretty intense. I definitely recommend this book so far and this author.
I love Abby Jimenez and have read all of her books. The Happy Ever After Playlist did not disappoint. Fast and easy to read with relatable characters and hilarious plot. I recommend it as long as you aren't afraid of some steamy parts.
I adore the way Abby writes - this book is just incredible. Funny, beautifully written. I love the characters, and the fact that we get all of the ones from the first book. I can’t wait to read the rest.
Thanks to NetGalley and Forever for a chance to read an excerpt!
I had heard great buzz about both of Abby Jiminez's books, and I enjoyed seeing some of her famous social media wit (like the geode story, which...I think got referenced slightly in a convo with Kristen and Sloane, which is a cute nod if so). Then I read THE FRIEND ZONE and....it REALLY didn't work for me.
I'm glad I gave this one a shot because I actually really enjoyed it! I'm a sucker for epistolary romances and getting to know each other through personality and character rather than appearance. "Epistolary" might not be the right word because it's texts AND phone calls, but I think you know what I mean. And the dog is really cute! Also, Kristen is a lot less annoying when she is the wacky best friend and not the insufferable heroine. And I still hate having the motorcycle incident in the middle of a romance novel, but it works fine as a two-years-ago thing here. All in all, I will be picking this book up to read the rest. But I've tried listening to the songs from the beginnings of the chapters and they're not my thing so I'll skip the playlist portion. Looking forward to seeing if the conversational chemistry translates into physical chemistry, and hopefully reading lots more dog hijinks.
I LOVED this preview. It has everything - fantastic characters already, laugh out loud funny moments, and I can just tell that Sloan and Jason are going to be perfect for each other. I’m definitely going to be buying this book!
AMAZING! Read this book! I cried, I laughed, I smiled, I got angry. I had ALL THE FEELS as the kids say.
I loved the preview and I can't wait to read the full book! The characters really captured my attention! I am so getting this book!!
Readometer rating - 5*/5 !!!
Sloan’s heart was broken in The Friend Zone and so was mine.
I fell in love with this book early on.
This had a slightly different feel from TFZ but amazing in its own way. I totally get why everyone who’s read it loves it!
The playfulness between Jason and Sloan was the absolute best. I really loved the text threads and the banter these two had so naturally. I got so excited every time they flirted 😅. I really loved the way Jason (AND TUCKER) brought Sloan out of the shell she was living in. She started to be happy again 😭. Jason is the dream book boyfriend. He was so patient and made me swoooooon.
This book tore my heart apart at times. It was about moving on from tragedy and learning to love again. The story was told so beautifully.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS BOOK.
Sloan and Kristen are best friend goals. They remind me so much of my best friend and I 😭❤️
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I'm just going to tell you now that if you read this preview...prepare to go get this book, I'm a hundred percent talking from personal experience. I was prepared for that though. I don't typically like going into books with high hopes, but I couldn't help it with this one! I have only heard good things and this book didn't disappoint!
This is my first book by Jimenez and it definitely will not be my last! She is an incredible writer and I loved the chemistry that formed between our love interest. They were cute and I won't give anything away, but this book was a 5 star for me,
3 stars for the start of the book. The beginning is a bit too slow for me. I am going to read the full version as I am interested to know how their story develops. Thank you netgalley for the opportunity!
The Happy Ever After Playlist
It's been a treat reading this book.
At first for 2 chapters I was like funny things are happening but "meh"
Then when the 3rd chapter hits things get better. So better I cant stop reading it. The humor, simple sense of fun, little flirts, the easy going and fast pacing storyline is brilliant.
Honestly when I keep on reading it after 3rd chapter I couldnt put the book down till I finished it. It was a delight completing reading this book. Its such a heart warming sweet book.
The characters grew and developed so well and the effect our little favorite dog "tucker" had throughout the story is just cherry on top.
I would suggest this book to everyone who wants a good time and a easy fun read
Even the side characters and supporting roles were brilliantly done and relatable.
The relatable nature of all characters made this book a really good one and easy to read and fun to go with.

This story is the sequel to The Friend Zone and follows Sloan who is trying to get her life back on track after losing her fiancé two years earlier. When a dog falls into her lap, Sloan takes care of it while searching for its owner, who is around the world pursuing his music career. When owner Jason finally reaches out, they exchange flirty messages until they can meet in person when he returns to the states.
This book immediately sucked me in and I read nearly 200 pages in a night. I love Jimenez's writing because her characters are real and relatable. She writes about tough situations while also peppering in sarcasm and humor. We got to see grieving Sloan find a renewed purpose as she takes care of puppy Tucker who fell into her lap at the perfect moment. I found myself grinning at the chemistry between Sloan and Jason, but the second half of the story slowed a bit for me as it followed Jason on tour and you lost some of the sweet moments we had upfront. Overall I enjoyed the story and had fun rooting for the couple and seeing Sloan get her happily ever after.
I recommend this one for those who enjoy contemporary romance and music—it comes with a Spotify playlist!
I don’t even know how to properly compose my thoughts and I just want to cry. This was SO. GOOD.
It has been two years since Sloan’s fiancé was killed by a drunk driver shortly before their wedding. Her best friend, Kristin, believes it is time for Sloan to take control of her life again. This book is all about rebuilding and finding your place to call home, while staying mindful that the bumps along the way are meant to be a part of the journey.
While a companion to The Friend Zone, this book could be read on its own with no confusion to the reader. Nicely done!
Fun fact: Nadia Cakes is mentioned a few times in Jimenez’s books. She owns this bakery in real life and was featured on TLC and Food Network!
Also fun: the chapter titles in this book were all song titles, including songs by Billie Eilish and Bring Me the Horizon. The complete Happy Ever After Playlist is listed at the back of the book.
“It was poetry about a woman who was every season. She was the muffled moment when snow started to fall. A soft, beguiling spring fog over a glass lake. The full moon, white and unmarred in an inky-black summer sky. An autumn so vibrant you can die feeling peace because your eyes have seen it.”
Truth be told, I went into this a little mad at the last book, and the way it challenged my sense of what's truly encompassed by the HEA promise of a romance. I hurt for Sloan at the end of that novel, but just a few paragraphs in, and I'm was reminded of everything I love about Jimenez's voice. There's such humor in irreverence in the way her character's speak. It always puts a smile on my face. I'm eager to read more of Sloan's healing from the devastating loss in the last book, and Jason seems charming and fun. I can't wait to get to know him better. I must have pressed the next page button a good five or six times before it registered that the sample had come to an end.
This extended preview makes me want to read the entire book.
Sloan is still grieving her fiancé when a lost dog jumps into her car and refocuses her on life. When she finally tracks down Tucker's handsome owner, Jason, that energy intensifies.
What a creative way of bringing together one's characters! I enjoyed spending time with Sloan and Jason, and my favorite character, of course, was the dog.
I wish we had seen more of how Tucker helps lift Sloan from grief. The narrative assumes but doesn't demonstrate the healing magic of the unconditional love of and for a dog.
Many thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I HAD to read this book because I recently finished the first book in this series, The Friend Zone. Okay, guys - I am absolutely in love with this series. And this second book is THE BOMB. It is so funny at times that I cracked up laughing out loud. All of Sloane's voice mails to Jason while she had the dog were hilarious.
Abby Jimenez writes believable and relatable books that I really enjoy. I honestly felt like I was right there alongside all the characters and I felt their joy, pain, heartbreak, elation, confusion, etc.
This is the story of Sloane - the friend whose fiancee tragically died at the end of book 1. Sloane thought she would never fall in love again because she had already had her chance at a HEA that didn't end so well. Tucker the dog played a key role in this book in introducing Sloane to his owner, Jason. Jason was smitten with Sloane from the very beginning, but when Sloan finds out who Jason really is, will she be able to continue a relationship with him?
I cannot say enough how much I love this book. I will be looking for more Abby Jimenez books in the future.
I was provided this book in exchange for an honest review. The opinions stated above are mine without biases.
This is a review of an extended preview of this book
This is an absolutely adorable fun silly flirty book with a really cute pup at the center of it all. Sloane is stuck in her grief having lost her beloved fiancé. Jason, a musician on his way to the top entrusted a friend with the care of his pup(fur child). His career is on the rise and his dog is running wild. He made a really bad choice in picking a caretaker. Not only does she lose the dog almost immediately, she puts forth almost no effort to find the dog and leaves town on business without letting Jared know or returning a single phone call made by Sloane. Thankfully Sloane is a really good person with a kind open heart for dogs. Humans not so much right now, but dogs, absolutely. The pup hops into her car when she almost runs him over. She takes him to the vet and leaves a message for Jared. And then another message and does so every day for 2 weeks. Some of them are a riot! She finally hears back from Jared. who is on the other side of the world. And so begins their relationship via text and eventually actually speaking! So much fun. As stated earlier I was only given access to a preview so am headed over to audible.com now to get the whole thing!! Its definitely perfect for some light hearted romance and a great dog.
I can't wait to read the rest of this story!
Sloane's heartbreaking loss was experienced in the first book of this series (The Friend Zone), but it doesn't seem as if we're going to have to relive that tragedy. I'm more than a little glad about that - it was awful enough the first time. Sloane's sadness is still apparent, but her text exchanges with Jason are heartwarming and hilarious. Fingers crossed for a fun and uplifting story of finding love when - and where - you least expect it!
Thank you SO MUCH Netgalley for giving me this arc!!!
The Friend Zone has easily been one of my absolute favorite reads of this year. So when I found out there was another book coming out, I freaked out... just a little.
This book was absolutely wonderful!!! Abby Jimenez continues to write beautiful stories that suck me in immediately and make me sad to put it down for even a short amount of time. Her giftedness for writing characters that are so intensely relatable will never fail to astonish me.
Sloan already had my heart from The Friend Zone and Jason grabbed my heart immediately. Sloan has been mourning for 2 years and you can see and truly feel the toll it’s taken on her. Underneath the depression though, lies a fun, spirited, energetic, and loving woman. Jason... where to begin. His patience and sincerity was insanely attractive. Not to mention he’s just hot. So there’s that. But his heart and intentions and just WHO he was, was amazing. I fell in love instantly with his flirtyness. Because... it was impossible not to.
This story was so fun and lighthearted, yet breached such heartbreaking emotions that you couldn’t help but feel the same pain these characters were feeling. It was also so fun to see Kristen and Josh again! Love and miss reading about them so this was just perfect. Everything was beautiful to read and I can’t wait for the rest of Abby’s fans to read another absolutely wonderful book!
P.S. I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend and suggest reading The Friend Zone first!!! It will absolutely enhance the reading experience!
