Before you start planning your next trip, I suggest you read Rachel McMillan’s Dream, Plan, and Go! Especially if you’re not sure if you can do it, and by that, I mean stepping out courageously and taking a step in faith to travel solo. Whether or not you’re a single or a couple, Dream, Plan, and Go is filled with Ms. McMillan’s forthright enthusiasm about traveling wherever you may be. Even the content is directed at someone who is single and traveling, but a bucket list is a bucket and lists are to be marked off, right?
This travel memoir gives useful tips and tricks on every aspect of planning, dreaming, and ideas to put into action when you are on your travel adventure. It also asks questions related to specific chapters helping you to further make these dreams a reality. Nothing is sugar-coated as Ms. McMillan’s relates her travel adventures, she plainly states the pros and cons, and some of her own mishaps that happened to her along the way. But in no way did these misadventures deter her from continuing, in fact, it seemed to further her convictions in preserving to continue to overcome her fears and limitations.
We all have specific reasons for wanting to travel, and many of the places that Ms. McMillan visited was directly related to her love of reading. She was inspired to step into the lives of these characters that lived in the pages of beloved books of her childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. In doing so, she learned about herself in ways that she believed strengthen her as a person. Maybe you don’t dream to travel, maybe you want to start your own business, maybe you’re not sure what it is you want, but one thing is certain by reading Dream, Plan and Go, it will help to get your thinking of what’s on your bucket list, and seriously start planning ways of accomplishing it.

I found this book very interesting. I thought it was actually more of a self help book with a travel slant. This was a lot of encouragements to get started and not be afraid to travel as a woman. It did seem targeted towards women. It had many stories about overcoming fears about traveling alone or too far or many other fears that we have that stop us from doing things. It was a good book to read if you have those obstacles holding you back. For me, I have been traveling as a solo woman for many years and the stories did resonate with me so I can say that they have truth in them to encourage someone to just go. This isn't so much about where to go but about just going.

I loved this book! By sharing her own travel stories and those of multiple others, the author empowers other women to travel alone, near and far. As an avid single traveler myself, I don’t feel like I got as much from this book as novices will, but some of the tips were new to me and I really think this book is a must read for women nervous about doing things alone.

Dream, Plan, & Go by Rachel McMillan is a must read for those who are contemplating a departure, be it large or small, from their comfort zone. Rachel intermingles snippets from her own journeys with travel tips, as well as 'historical snapshots', and the result is wholly effective and inspiring. As a woman who often embarks on solo adventures, I took much away from this thoughtful book that owes its wisdom to the vast wealth of experience that is so generously shared by the author. Thank you Rachel, I am off to plan my next independent adventure!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Harvest House Publishers for this ARC.

This was an inspiring book in many ways. Rachel McMillian sets out to encourage readers to break out of their comfort zone and take solo adventures around the world. Along the way, she gives many tips and tricks for traveling. Some of these tips were not new to me, but I did read some that I found interesting, and things I hadn’t thought of before. The descriptions of her journeys weren’t very long and they weren’t super detailed, but honestly, they were just long enough to make me want to go to all the places she described! Each chapter ended with some thought provoking reflection questions about a variety of topics, including the various trips that you have previously taken. As someone who has always wanted to travel solo, but hasn’t had the courage to do so, this book was a great encouragement to me!

I read this in one sitting because it's creative, concise and is all about travel, which I absolutely love!
So, "what does travel mean to you?" or better yet "what places inspire you?" These are some of the questions that the author calls upon you to reflect on. Each chapter builds upon the previous one, working its way from an idea, to realizing it whilst building your confidence.
I absolutely love the art in this book. So, if you love pictures and concise writing, grab this book! If you are looking to discover where you may set out to next, grab this book!
Thanks Netgalley for the eARC.
