I enjoyed this "extended preview" so much, but I needed to have the entire book instead so I could read the rest of the story. I will make sure that my library gets a copy so I can read it. Thanks!
Such a good romance novel. Hope this becomes a series. I would love to read more novels by Grace Burrows.
Anything given praise by Julia Quinn is a must-read in my book! This was enjoyable to read, and I really liked how witty the writing was! I’ll be adding this to my list of books to read. It seems to move quickly but I’m interested to see how Althea and Nathaniel influence each other and how their story ends up!
Thank you NetGalley for this extended preview! It was an enjoyable read and I picked it up because of the praise for the novel. It was romantic, witty, and entertaining.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable excerpt and I look forward to reading the rest of the story, as it has piqued my interest. I just requested it from my library.
Althea is earnest and strong and definitely appeals to me. I look forward to learning more about her. Nathanial is haunted and determined to be seen as unapproachable, and I find him quite intriguing. I can't wait to learn more about the horrible thing from his past that prevents him from ever marrying. I also can't wait to see Althea and Nathanial's outrageous and unconventional behavior continue as they grow closer.
I find Grace Burrowes' characters to be well-thought-out and endearing, though her writing is a touch rambling. I would perhaps enjoy her books a tad more if they were a little more concise. Overall though, this was highly enjoyable and I look forward to continuing it.
Full of wit and chemistry, already found in this extended preview!
This preview of A Duke by Any Other Name by Grace Burrowes gives us a glimpse of the main characters, Nathaniel, the Duke of Rothhaven, and Lady Althea Wentworth. They are do seem very different at first glance, but as you read through the book, it looks like they are more similar than they expected to be. The writing, as always, is delightfully done. I’m a fan of Grace Burrowes, and this book is just as good as her previous ones. The banter between the main leads is witty and fun. You can’t help but root for them!
I am looking forward to finally picking up a copy of the book to finish reading it.
This book was very enjoyable, witty, and it was hard to put this book down. The romance was well written and focused. The characters Althea and Duke Nathaniel were well developed and believable. Nathaniel is reclusive, ill-tempered, un-caring, and he hides behind that reputation. Behind that facade he is a honest, honorable and caring person but he has secrets and is willing to keep them at all cost. Athea was born an unenviable past. She was born to poverty and vile man who kept her and her siblings starved and he especially delighted in their abuse. Then one day her brother inherits a dukedom.
Althea had a unsuccessful london season so she decides to forego this years season and plans to stay at her estate. There she plans to gain acceptance from the locals including the Duke.
They're both drawn to eachother at first sight but he knows he can't further their acquaintance. But life had other plans.
Like I said this was an enjoyable and delightful read. The only thing that would've made this better was an epilogue. I highly recommend and look forward to her books.
Althea, a duke’s sister, was considered a spinster and her neighbor Nathaniel, a duke, was a confirmed recluse. They are both hiding out in the country and avoiding polite society for their own reasons. The duke is hiding a secret and Althea is uncomfortable with her recent surge in her position in society. Nathaniel is deeply devoted and loyal to his family, tender and playing the role of the Dread Duke to protect family secrets. Althea is witty, not conventional, and can quickly deliver a well played set down. It was fun to listen to these two banter. Nathaniel’s servants were a humorous bunch of meddlers that played their role well. I love a strong heroine in historical romance that can deliver sharp retorts. I had a couple gripes though. There was a few characters added that didn’t do much for the plot and weren’t well developed and probably could have been excluded. The other issue was it seemed off how casual the sex was handled. We know Althea is thrusted into the aristocracy and her background is of poor beginnings however she described the limits she maintained in that environment. Their romance followed a contemporary pace rather than historical romance.
Athea and Nathaniel have broadly similar outlooks on life and seem like they would be a great influence on each other. The free preview was definitely enough to peek my interest and make me want to read the full novel. Looking forward to it.
What a cute enticement for this new book by Grace Burrowes. She always writes such great characters and stories, and this sneak peek is no different.
Althea is an oddball, Nathaniel is a recluse. These two together are something else. I can't wait to see more of the story told not by the perspective of the classic English roses that grew up on Mayfair with social status to hold them back or propel them forward. A clear and refreshing look at another side of historical romance.
I'm already downloading the full book as I write this, because I'm so curious how these two came together.
My opinion is my own and freely given.
Loved this and can’t wait to read more!! Grace Burrows is an amazing author! Thank you for the peak at this story.

A great Regency Romance book full of schemes, pretence and rebuffing each other until they are unable to stay away from each other’s company. Lady Althea’s pigs likes to escape from their abode looking for certain things to eat. Nathanial tries to keep away but is unable to do so.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Forever(Grand Central Publishing) from NetGalley for my honest review of the book . The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own thoughts, feelings and viewpoints of the book

The best word that I can come up with to describe this book is 'enticing'. I already love the potential dynamic between the male and female leads, and how the romance can go just about anywhere. While I haven't read many regency romances, I regret not doing so and only picking up Grace Burrowes' charming style of writing now.
“Lady Althea Wentworth is persistant, odd, and raised hogs. She has tried to gain the attention of her neighbor but everything has failed until she let her hogs go awondering.
Nathaniel Taylor's is a recluse . He values his privacy and family. He is wanting the dukedom to die with him. He has a secret as to why he want this.
Althea wants the duke 's help but he wants no part in it. Reluctantly he sides her the best he can.
This is a fun, witty, and new theme read that so far will have you laughing and hoping he sides her completely. I can wait to get the full book to find out what happens.
Grace Burrowes always delivers Regency romances that sizzle and make you smile. In this book Althea and Nathaniel both want to be recluses but society has other plans for them. This series, in particular, is a lot of fun because it showcases characters who were not necessarily born to wealth and position. This allows Burrowes to feature history and locations that are unique and interesting because the stories include a broader class of society. This novelty in plot keeps her stories interesting and fresh in the genre.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an Advanced Reader Copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Read chapters 1-4 as an extended preview from NetGalley, and I love it! I can’t wait to read the rest as soon as possible. I’ve been waiting for Quinn’s sisters to have their turn, and I’m so excited to see how Althea and Nathaniel get on.
Thank you to Netgalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for this extract. It was an enjoyable read.
What a wonderful preview of this book. Can't wait to read what's next! The story moves fast and is truly entertaining.
I was able to read the first four chapters of this book and while I enjoyed them, I wasn't completely hooked. Grace Burrowes is a new-to-me author, and I really appreciated her polished, thoughtful writing style. However, I just wasn't captivated by either of the characters or by their chemistry. This book seems to be a fairly standard Regency romance, and I would recommend it for those who are interested grumpy dukes and pastoral settings!
There does seem to be a secret, disabled/"infirm" brother, which is a trope I am often cautious of, so I hope that this character and his story are given the dignity and nuance that they deserve.
Thanks to NetGalley and Forever for the Extended Preview ARC.
