When requesting,I didn't see that it was a middle grade book .I am not very comfortable reading middle grade.
So when I started reading this book it took me forever to finish.
A helpful bee, facing different situations and.different people just to find out no matter how different others are ,we should not have any against prejudice anyone.

Lucy is a sweet bee who is determined to help those around her, even though they have prejudices against the other bees around them. As she goes on her quest, she gets help from these other bees and finds out that they really aren't so bad after all. Even though their honey isn't the same color, it is still good. It's a good lesson for kids to learn. Plus there are some educational pieces in the back about bees, so a bit of science is in there as well.

Thank you to the publisher for fulfilling my review request via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

There was no way for our family not to love this book - two of the bee characters share the names of my children so it was written exactly for us. Aside from that obvious delight though, the story itself was adorable, the illustrations are fantastic and this book has a wonderful hopeful message that would be well received in a classroom, perfect for spring and for this uncertain time in so many of our lives. Perfect for ages 6-10 or so or even younger as a read-aloud.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I would estimate the target audience to be ages 7-9 if reading on their own. The illustrations were adorable and spaced well throughout the story. The story itself was well-paced and speckled with little life lesson gems. An enriching story for the youth of today!

What better to read while experiencing enforced stay at home times than about a bee who wanted to help others during times of illness!?! Lucy and her friend Molly liked to do their jobs but also to have fun. They were curious about the outside world, but were warned only to pay attention to jobs they were given and never to drink pollen from other beehives. Until suddenly the bees around them began to get sick, feel weak and not be able to do their jobs. Lucy decided to go look for a cure while there was still time.
A very nice introduction to bee society, this is a book also about kindness and acceptance. It is about acknowledging emotions and how to deal with them, including fear. There are some BIG words to explore along the way, pushing boundaries and vocabulary concepts.
It is exciting and although there are scary moments, there is also music and laughter included in Lucy's adventure. Molly shows how valuable her efforts back home are as well. Overall a wonderful story.

Description:
Lucy the honeybee lives a buzzy and bee-a-utiful life with her bee buddies from the red hive--painting her home with propolis, collecting pollen, and playing with her best friend, Molly. That is, until members of the red hive fall sick and not even their delicious red honey will heal them. As the bees struggle with how to help their hive, Lucy has an idea: could the other, forbidden hives in the forest hold the cure her friends so desperately need? Although she knows it's forbidden, Lucy devises a plan to travel across the forest in search of help, hope, and healing honey.

Lucy the Bee and the Healing Honey is a great educational children’s
chapter book about helping others. This is such a cute book! At the end of the book is a glossary for definitions and questions which allow this story to be used as a teaching guide. Even though the book is for ages 7-10 my 2 year old granddaughter and my 5 year old daughter loved it. I loved the story, the lesson it taught and the positive attitude it sets. I would say this would be a great book for teachers to have in their classrooms. The illustrations are bright and so cute . The kids loved looking at all the pictures throughout the book. This book has a valuable message about helping others ,sharing, forgiveness and caring. This is a such a clever way to teach children about bees and the way a hive works. Many thanks to the Publisher , the Author , and NetGalley for a ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions I have expressed are my own or those of my family.
