This book was a great read. There were a few places the storyline dragged but overall a really good book to get lost in. The authors describes the characters perfectly. There are some very funny parts. If you are looking for a book to get lost into this is it. When I finished, I wanted more of the other characters in the book.
I didn’t think I would love Harrison as much as I did in this book - to the point he ended up by being my favorite character in the story.
Being a hockey player I thought he would be super alpha and a bit of a player. But he has such a sweet and sensitive side that I found absolutely adorable. He at times was unsure of himself and second guessed his actions which was so refreshing to read.
Arya was a magnificent character as well and she truly deserved someone as special as Harrison.
I am thinking Jackson’s story is up next and I cannot wait!! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
What another great story in this series. I just loved Harrison and Arya, they were wonderful together.
This was an alright read. I wished the couple had more chemistry and there were parts I skimmed since the story was not holding my interest. This is just probably due to my personal preference of liking more drama in a story. This wasn’t a bad read, it just wasn’t for me.
Another good story in the Wynn Hockey series. Arya was attacked brutally and has triggers. Harrison attends one of Arya’s yoga classes and falls hard. Not knowingly, Harrison comes on strong and trips her trigger. Eventually she tells him and they work through to become a couple. The family gets some bad news which pulls the family closer.
Kelly Jamieson does it again! The fourth Wynn book and just as good as the rest of them. I’ve really enjoyed following this family through their ups and downs. Arya and Harrison, in my opinion, had the most character development out of all the books. Spicy romance and hockey. Doesn’t get better than this!
This book killed me just a little. It dealt with some tough issues but Kelly did a great job covering them. I lost my uncle to Alzheimer's so I was definitely feeling it We have Harrison who has always admired his dad and wants to live up to his name as a hockey legend, now that his father is dying he feels more and more pressure and stress, he seems like a clown but that is him hiding how he really feels. He starts yoga and embarasses himself in from of Arya the yoga instructor, and my friend the fun begins.. Enjoy!
For The Win by Kelly Jamieson - 4.5 Stars
The Wynn Family is big and complex and Harrison has always been the one with the big heart, everyone can count on. In this book, he is feeling the pressure. Hockey legend and dad, Bob, is not doing well with his health and now Harrison has an opportunity to finally move up to the NHL for good if he can prove himself to his coaches. He is feeling some self doubt with his age and living up to his father's legacy. Then he sees Arya again the beautiful yoga instructor now hired by the Condors. She was not interested in him before but maybe he can convince her now?
Arya does not want to get involved in a romantic relationship. She is having major trust issues due to a significant trauma in her past. But Arya shows that she is strong and resilient and you can't help but want for Harrison & Arya to get to a HEA.
Harrison & Arya begin a delicate journey to help each other and talk through things which was so much more enjoyable to read. There were some difficult issues and some fun times. Overall the big family has the impact of unconditional love and care. This was a great book in the series!
Harrison and Arya swoon. I so want to try paddleboard yoga now. A great slow burn romance that develops from real friendship into a relationship. I loved getting to see past couples and see more of the family relations develop.
Harrison Wynn will be familiar if you've read the series. He's the son of hockey legend Bob Wynn. And he's been called up again from the farm team hoping for it to finally stick. It's time for him to focus on the game and give it his all. But when he literally dunks the yoga instructor Arya he can't seem to get her of his mind.
Arya is guarded for new experiences after an incident that forced her to relocate to California. Yet she's finding it hard to say no to Harrison. He's persistent and charming so breaking down her normal barriers takes some creative tactics. Will she let her past and her fear get in the way of something that seems special?
Another great one by Kelly Jamieson. This story follows another Wynn member, Harrison. Harrison is a hockey player like many other Wynn members. He is struggling with being in the minor league when he gets called up to play for his Dad's team in the NHL. He pursues Arya, a yoga instructor with some hefty baggage. Harrison is dealing with his own issues and family problems. The story follows their budding relationship and his hockey career. I won't say more so as not to give away the story. Harrison is endearing. Arya is sweet but has major trust issues. The author explores both characters and their back stories well. We get to see other characters from previous books and we get a glimpse at a side story in the Wynn family.
This is a great book and an enjoyable, easy read. It kept my attention and I look forward to the next story in the series.
I was introduced to this series mid series. The Wynn family is large and complicated but the family tree is explained well and it's easy enough to keep everyone straight once you delve into the book. I like Arya's strength and the time she takes to heal herself and know her limitations. Harrison does some growing, too. It's nice to see three dimensional characters and not the cliche "she's been hurt so the hero must save her to heal her." Nice perspective.
For the Wynn! I absolutely love this series. Each one has been amazing and entertaining in their own right. Kelly knows how to write a book you can really sink your teeth in. The story and characters are the type that stay with you after reading. Loved it! Would definitely recommend
Harrison Wynn may come from a hockey greatness, but he hasn’t found his permanent place in the NHL yet. Called up yet again from the farm league, his coach calls him out for coasting through and not giving it his all. He’s determined to give it his all and find his place in the pros, but he already thought that he was . . . and deep down, he knows he’ll never be as good as his dad.
When Arya Ross needed a new start after a relationship went very bad, she packed up and moved across the country to stay with a friend and make her own way doing what makes her happy . . .yoga. When she’s offered the chance to work with an NHL team, she can’t pass it by even though it pushes her far outside of her comfort zone
Harrison doesn’t need a distraction and Arya doesn’t want a relationship. Yet, they can’t seem to stay away from one another. Can Harrison prove his worth to both the NHL and to Arya and can Arya move past her trust issues and let HArrison all the way into her heart and her life?
For the Win was really a sweet story and romance. Arya and Harrison are an awesome couple but really lack communication causing them misunderstandings and issues . . .but it’s so worth it watching them work things out as they both learn so much about themselves and each other.
It’s clear Arya is interested, but she is absolutely terrified of trusting her gut or taking chances. And, Harrison is all about doing everything he can to win her over, and in doing that finds out more about himself than he could have imagined. This couple is absolutely perfect for one another giving one another the push to be brave to really go for everything they want to achieve personally and professionally.
Bob Wynn’s story arc is also a big part of this book and brings readers closure to issues that have been sprinkled throughout the entire series. The entire extended Wynn family as crazy as it is finally gets to the heart of their family problems which left me as a reader feeling very satisfied as I’ve been dying to find out how this would play out.
4.5 stars for this epic addition to the Wynn Hockey series.
I love this series! And Harrison and Ayra are absolutely my favorite couple so far! This was such a great story of hope, starting over and learning to trust yourself.
So many feels!!!! Love love love!!!!
"I've learned that fear means I'm doing something that matters...."
For the Win is the fourth book in the Wynn Hockey series. This book can be read as a stand-alone, however, I highly recommend reading the entire series. Each book focuses on one main member of the Wynn family, but the rest of the family is always an important part of each story. For the Win is the story of Harrison Wynn, and his constant struggle to make his father proud while trying to fulfill his dream of playing in the NHL.
Harrison Wynn is constantly trying to fill the shoes of his legendary hockey father, Bob Wynn. Time is running out for two reasons...at twenty-six, he is the oldest member of his team, and his father is dying. His coach has told him that he does not think that Harrison is playing up to his full potential. Once and for all, he needs to prove he is good enough to play on his own merits...he needs to focus and prove he has what it takes.
Arya Ross has been teaching yoga classes for seven years. During a recent paddle board yoga class, there is one man that has gotten her attention...especially when he accidentally knocked her into the water. The man is Harrison Wynn, and he is definitely persistent in his pursuit of Arya. However, after her last experience with a man, she has no interest in venturing out into the dating scene, and for good reason. As tempting as Harrison might be, Arya decides to make yoga her priority. She has received an offer to teach private yoga classes to the local hockey team, and despite her initial fear of teaching a bunch of athletes yoga, she accepts the job. Little did she know at the time, but the man that knocked her into the water is on that very hockey team she will be teaching yoga.
For the Win is another amazing addition to the Wynn Hockey series. Kelly Jamieson is a master at telling a story, and I especially love the dysfunctional family dynamic of the Wynn family. Each book tells more of their story, more of their family history, and explores the bonds so many of us take for granted. Harrison is a character that is easy to love, and easy to understand. Living in his father's shadow has not been easy for him, but in this book, we are able to see him grow as a character. I love his determination to win over Arya. Ayra is a strong female lead...one that is trying to move on from her past and learn to love and trust again. Their relationship is far from perfect, and once Arya reveals the truth about her horrific experience in the past, the bond they started to share is put to the ultimate test.
Overall, For the Win is a wonderful addition to the Wynn Hockey series. It is heartwarming and heartbreaking, but it has characters and a story line that so many of us can easily relate to. I highly recommend this book, as well as the previous books in the series. I would like to thank the author for allowing me the opportunity to read and review an ARC of For the Win. My views are my own, and are in no way influenced by anyone else.
Wynn Hockey Series:
Book 1. Play to Win
Book 2. In It to Win It
Book 3. Win Big
Book 4. For the Win
For the Win is the fourth book in the Wynn Hockey series by Kelly Jamieson. Each book is stand-alone and there is even a short character introduction sheet at the beginning of the book, so readers who are new to the series won't have a problem understanding the role of each character.
Even though I have read all four books, I still cannot remember how is everyone related to each other and I am really considering doing a big family tree for the Wynn's in order to be prepared for book 5. Also, there is some family drama that's been going on for a while, but it's not a big part of the story, which is why, in my opinion, you can read this book and if you like it, you can go back and read the rest of the series too, without a problem. A fun surprise was remembering that Arya appeared in the third book of the series for the first time when Everly took her man and Harrison to one of Arya's yoga classes. I would have liked to see Taj, Arya's friend, more because it seemed like Arya blended with Harrison's world, but he didn't blend with hers. She mentions other friends too, but Taj is the most important.
The Wynn's are very close as a family and you will see plenty of them and their significant others in this book. I love revisiting characters from the previous books and I loved how Everly and Arya formed a close relationship even before Arya and Harrison got together.
I really enjoyed reading For the Win and it's one of the best I read in February (the joy of being an ARC reader). There were some parts that I didn't like as much, but my overall impression of the book as a very positive one. I wanted Arya to open up to Harrison about her past much sooner than she did, which resulted in me getting a little frustrated, but as the book went on, I found myself having a lot of things in common with her and I ended up liking her a lot.
Harrison might be a little pushy, but his heart is in the right place and honestly, I found it to be a nice parallel to another plotline that's included in the book. He and Arya make a great couple!
Despite all the Hockey romance books I have read, I still don't know many things about it, so I missed an error in the book. I wouldn't have realized it if it wasn't for the author's GR review. If that bothers you, then skip the book.
Overall, the book was very good and I would recommend it!
Winning isn’t everything.
For The Win is the fourth book in the ‘Wynn Hockey’ series by Kelly Jamieson. It’s a stand-alone, but, if you haven’t read any of the others, then you should. Not just because they are an interconnected series of stand-alones, but they’re all such great stories, too. Plus, there is a story arc throughout them all. It’s not a ‘be all’ but it helps to have read them. You can still read this on its own. Just… why would you want too, lol.
This is Harrison Wynn’s story. He’s been stuck in the AHL for a while, but now he’s been given a chance to shine in the NHL, it’s a dream he’s harbored since a young age but never quite fulfilled.
Both, he and Arya Ross have been in previous books, so it’s nice to see them coming together. Ayra is a yoga teacher and when she first met Harrison she thought he was a bit of a clown. Harrison had a completely different response.
Arya has a past that still haunts her and she finds it difficult to give her trust, never mind open up and share her feelings. Harrison, in his own unique way, shows her just how wrong she is about him.
This one was bursting at the seams with all the feels. From simple friendship, to adoration and unfailing love. It tests limits and tugs at heartstrings. This is a certain One-Clicker for me. Check it out and see for yourself.
Hold onto your heart because Harrison is amazing. He is a flirty, caring, uber sexy gentleman. I loved how he treated and pursued Arya. They were so cute together especially after she started letting her guard down. She is so strong, rebuilding her life after the tragedy. And she had great support to help. She was so adorable with the dogs. Both she and Harrison were extremely likeable characters with a great story of love. I enjoyed the appearances of the other Wynn family members and the glimpses in their current lives.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher through Netgalley.
This was a feel-good opposites attract romance with a sexy hockey player and the troubled, broken yoga instructor who wants nothing to do with love. Harrison and Anya have a great connection right from the start. He's not used to being shot down by the ladies, so what starts out as a mission to win her over really turns into something neither one of them was expecting.
I haven't read anything else in this series, and I think I want to! The extended family members are fun, and I'd love to read up on those couples.
I received an advanced copy via the publisher and NetGalley and voluntarily left a review.
