This is a fantastic contemporary romance with great characters who totally grow on you as the story progresses.
The Magnolia Sisters are Harper, Rose and May Anderson. They live with their parents on their family flower farm, each having different roles in the business. Harper is the one who oversees the actual farm work and she's not amused when an out of towner, Luke Martin, suggests he hires the farm as a venue for his sister's wedding. What makes this worse is his sister's fiancé is the man who broke the heart of Harper's sister, May. Luke is a self-made multi-millionaire tech mogul and is determined to get his sister, Annie, the venue she wants.. . . . . He's usually successful, but then again, he's never been up against someone like Harper before!
The sparks fly between Harper and Luke in this family drama. There are plenty of twists and turns in the story but family is at the heart of it all. There are superb descriptions of the flowers and farm, the scenic setting is brought to life by the author's poetic prose. The potential heartbreak of having to choose to looking out for yourself or your family is beautifully portrayed as the two fight their mutual attraction. It is a fun, sweet romance which takes you through the full gamut of emotions as the drama unfolds. It is a great read and I have no hesitation in highly recommending it to anyone who enjoys contemporary enemies to friends to romance stories. I suspect this is the start of a new series and I am certainly looking forward to reading more about both these families in future.
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest review after choosing to read it and thoroughly enjoying it.
If you’re a fan of feel-good Hallmark-movie-style romances, this is the perfect book for you! It’s an opposites attract story, with the main characters slowly realizing that they have more in common with each other than they think. It was great to watch them slowly move together - and a relief when they finally did!
The characters are really well-developed and complex; you feel like you know them as you’re watching their stories unfold. The emphasis on family and loyalty created a really sweet story that makes it a feel-good story that is a perfect vacation read - the descriptions of the scenery will definitely whisk you away to another place.
This was a wonderful, quick read that I would recommend to anyone looking for a nice story with a wonderful setting and characters.
I thoroughly enjoyed this opposites-attract, small-town romance. I’m not sure that those classifications do it justice, though. The sparring between the two leads, Harper and Luke, grabbed me and had me rooting for them. The description of the family flower farm had me wishing that it was real so I could visit. The themes of family and dedication are woven seamlessly into the story. For a full review, please visit my blog at Fireflies and Free Kicks. Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for a pre-release, digital ARC of the book.
This was a fun, sweet story. It really enjoyed it and look forward to reading other books by the author. I gave it a 4 since it felt more like an intro to other characters than a stand alone book. The main story was nice, but I'm more interested in learning what was going on with the secondary characters.
This is a Netgalley ARC review. All opinions are solely my own.
The Magnolia Sisters by Alys Murray is the first book of her new series. I can't wait to follow the the Anderson sisters on their journey. This book really hit home for me because my sister is my best friend. I could really identify with all of the sisters in their different roles and that those roles change in a moment.
Harper and Luke are the protective siblings of the family but a little romance shakes all of that up. This book absolutely lives up to the title of "utterly perfect and heartwarming romance." I can't wait to follow these sisters and all of their antics!!
Ah the enemies to friends love story! Harper is a flower farmer who sees mini-mansions and other things encroaching on the land her family has worked for generations. Luke is a techie with lots of money who wants to give his sister Annie the wedding she wants. Problem is- the wedding isn't feasible from a farming standpoint and it's not worth the money Luke's offering. Luke, however, comes up with a deal for her and, over the course with working with her, finds there's more to Harper than it appears- and the same is true for her view of Luke. Readers of this genre know that the course of true love is not smooth. There are some nice characters here (I liked Annie even when I didn't). Thanks to net galley for the ARC.
The Magnolia Sisters is a story set on a flower farm with a charming hero and a strong heroine. Harper Anderson is devoted to her family and their farm. Her life is not simple but satisfying and full of love. When Luke Martin arrives, wanting to rent the farm for his sister's wedding, he and Harper do NOT get off to a great start. She makes some unfair assumptions about him based on his wealth. Ones she eventually admits were very, very wrong.
I loved the setting and the slow burn chemistry between the main characters.
This is the first time I have read this author and really enjoyed this story.Harper was one stubborn lady and she doesn't back down and neither does luke . Watch as her sisters May and rose and his sister Annie go out of there way to set them up. Good read.
The Magnolia Sisters by Alys Murray was a fun and enjoyable read. I absolutely loved the setting on the family's flower farm in Northern California. This is Luke and Harper's story. Two people who would probably never have met if it weren't for Luke's sister and her engagement to a man in the small town. I liked the main characters and the secondary characters in the story. This was a clean, sweet romance story. It moved at a slow but steady pace throughout the story. I recommend this book, and look forward to reading more from this author.
2.5 to 3
Well I just could not for the life of me get into this story. It just felt bogged down to me. I just didn't feel the chemistry between the main characters. I think Harper had more fun with Annie then with Luke and that not saying much. Luke just seemed like a huge stick in the mud. I also didn't like the scene in the bride salon. I paraphrase here: Here try this on because it is plus size and I can see how it looks on you because you know I am so thin and you aren't... it that a snide comment about Harper or what. I just wasn't feeling it. The sisters felt off too. They just didn't seem to gel. Something is missing and I just can't put my thumb on it. The main characters always thought the worst of each other so how can they say they loved each other. If all assume is the worst from them what really do you like about them?
I know I am in the minority here everyone seems to love it, I just can't say I did. I received a copy from the publisher for an honest review. I believe my review is.

SYNOPSIS: Harper Anderson helps run her family flower farm when some rich out-of-town brother & sister duo try and use their L.A. charm and money to have her wedding there and ruin the harvest. Harper doesn’t halve time for arrogant Luke Martin, but Luke will do anything to make his sister’s dreams come true so he’s not giving up that easily.

REVIEW: I thought this was such a light hearted and fun read. Very clean small town romance that highlights family bond, friendship, and love. The author really made me feel the shift in emotion between Harper & Luke throughout the book from out right despise to love and longing for one another and everything in between. I also thought the relationship between Harper & Luke’s sister Annie was a surprising and sweet addition. I appreciated how of course there was turmoil, but not because of a mean girl. Overall this book has a very Hallmark-esque quality that I found very easy and enjoyable to read!

Author Allys Murray is a genius wordsmith. Her words in the prose carried so much passion that I had tears just reading them. The way the main character Harper described her flowers made me look at them with a new eye.
Harper hated the townies, especially the rich ones. Luke was one of them. He wanted her flower farm as the venue for his sister's marriage, even gave Harper a blank check for it. When she refused, he approached her dad and came to work on the farm. Attraction sparkled, a secret brought the tension between them. Would love happen?
I don't read many romances, but this book pulled me in with the first word, the first chapter. Love between the family members and their obvious bond brought a smile to my face. There were so many things in this book that touched my heart, from the cover to the prose to the emotions. I was so thankful that the author's writing to give me a world filled with the Anderson sisters. They were different, yet so loving to each other.
Attraction and love soon enveloped the story and swept me away in its warmth. The words in the book made me forget that my boring real life existed. I connected with Harper right from the first sentence of the book, and that continued on until the end. Luke tried to buy her off, and hence he took some time to warm my heart. I was completely a Harper fan. Thus the gushing. Interactions between them were fun and humorous.
Lyrical prose in its descriptions, there was something so entrancing in the story, that like a magnet it pulled me in. I couldn't stay away until I finished the book. This was a complete book of feels and fun, family and love, where the complex and varied characters made the romance come alive.
I loved the book wholeheartedly, and it loved me back.
I found this book hard to get into at first the characters seemed choppy and disjointed. Our female lead did not come off as likeable in the beginning and her male counterpart seemed to have a split personality. But as I read more I enjoyed their interactions and the story, they became more realistic
The setting was beautiful and as a flower shop owner I found the flower farm just dreamy..
A light and fast read perfect for a rainy weekend or a trip to the beach.
Well written.
Good plot
characters and
settling. I highly recommend this book. My thanks to the publisher for my advance ebook. This is my unbiased review.
Harper has worked since she was a teen at the family flower farm, all the way up to managing most of the operations after her father’s accident. She, along with her two sisters all live at home, and deal with their mother’s pushing them to marriage, their father’s kindly acceptance and their own hopes for the future. But none are even dating, and living and working in the small town has none of them thinking in that direction. Except to provide the flowers or do some arrangements. So, when an “obviously” LA couple arrives and demands to hire the farm as a wedding venue, her hackles are up and things aren’t that simple. For the woman is engaged to Harper’s youngest sister May’s ex – who broke things off with no warning and she’s never quite recovered.
Luke has spent years caring for his sister Amy, from dropping out of high school to work and provide the basics, to working all the hours sent to make a splash and millions in tech. He’s determined that Amy will have everything she wants, even if he’s not that hot on her intended, and to that end, he’s going to spend time working on the farm to convince Harper to give in.
Oh this was so sweet – between the flowers, the sisters and Harper’s utter inability to see that she’s attracted to Luke in some very basic ways. And you can’t help but enjoy Amy and her determination to get Luke out of directing her life to find his own. When you add in the tension and the fears of both Harper and Luke, May’s depression about her breakup, and Amy’s determination to make everything work for Luke -and you come out with a story that is hard to put down, full of emotion, and with plenty of feelings to go around.
I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Alys Murray's The Magnolia Sisters offered a slice of Americana and illustrated the importance of family. The Anderson's farm is rooted in the community and their existence is in toil. Brother and sister duo Luke and Annie Martin's luxurious lifestyle, soils the Anderson's values. When Luke steps in to make a better life for the family and secure his sister's future, Hope begins to see him in a new light. Will love bloom or the fluttering romance be left budding?
I will leave a review on Amazon or B&N on Mar 5, 2020
I received an Advanced Reader's Copy from NetGalley and the Publisher, and this is my fair and honest review.
The Magnolia Sisters by Alys Murray was a very sweet read. This was my first book by this author and I found it to be well written, and I really enjoyed the chemistry between Harper and Luke. The story is full of family loyalties and misconceptions that take awhile to work through but it was certainly worth it in the end. I would definitely recommend this book to those that enjoy a good clean romantic read.
I simply loved The Magnolia Sisters by Alys Murray. From the opening paragraph, I was hooked. The story surrounds three sisters that help run the family flower business. From growing to selling, they do it all. This particular book focuses on Harper Anderson. She is responsible for growing and harvesting the flowers but she feels the burden of a failing business. Harper believes maintaining the traditions that have succeeded in the past is the only way. She has no time for a spoiled, rich girl or her handsome brother. To assume her working farm could be used as a wedding venue??!! Harper is determined to turn the family business around without interference from Luke Martin. Luke is determined to give his sister the perfect wedding and Harper Anderson isn't going to stand in his way. Let the games begin!!
The Magnolia Sisters is a fun book filled with beautiful descriptions, well-written characters and an enjoyable plot. I am assuming this is the first in a trilogy. At least I hope so!!
I voluntarily received a copy of this book from NetGalley.
This was truly the PERFECT sweet romance! I fell in love with Harper and the other Andersons immediately, and could almost smell flowers blooming around me as I read. Rarely have I stumbled across such poetic, breath-stealing descriptions of love. Alys Murray created an adorable, quirky small town that felt like home, and a cast of characters as loveable as they were frustrating sometimes (just like family!)
I adored the family dynamics of the Andersons, and appreciated that the love between them was just as important as the love story between Harper and Luke. Murray did a fantastic job of highlighting this, never straying from the plot but adding enough backstory and "background noise" to let me believe I was sitting around the kitchen table with everyone else. Every character was given...well, character, and I enjoyed learning that Luke and his sister, Annie, had much more to them than meets the eye.
The Magnolia Sisters was full of humor and heart, family ties and friendships, and quotes so heartachingly beautiful I'm considering getting them tattooed so I can carry them with me always. I cannot WAIT for more from Murray, and can't wait to tell my husband that he makes me feel like "a forest of flowers blossomed in [my] heart." ❤
Many thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this incredible book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What started out as a quest to secure a wedding venue turned into love found for the most unlikely pair. Harper and Luke seem like polar opposites on the outset. Harper comes off as a hardworking, prickly flower farmer who can't see past the end of her nose; Luke an entitled techie holding a silver spoon while wearing a suit. Their first impressions of each other couldn't be further than the truth. As we get to know them, we see that their layers are around them for a reason and looking at different perspectives helps to unravel those layers.
I loved this story! The characters are well-developed and the relationships Harper and Luke have with each other and their families are well-thought out. Ms. Murray gave us complex characters, but still managed to weave a tale of determination and endurance. I cannot wait to read more about the Anderson family!
