I really love this author so I was excited to read this book! I thought it was an easy read that held my attention the whole time. The plot line was interesting and the characters were awesome. This is the type of book I would purchase for my libraries YA collection.. Awesome book!
Like the original Trylle series this book was just ok. It felt more like filler than a continuation of the story. I will read the next one just to find out what happened but this one didn't move me like the first book did.
This book was just okay for me. I loved the trylle books so I was excited to go back to that world. I just didn't feel like this was as good as those. I will read the next in the series and decide from there.
I received this ARC from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
The first book was mediocre and this one continued that trend. I just found the characters flat and not relatable.

Honestly, I'm not sure if I will read the next in this series. Everything went a bit off the rails to me, and not in a fun, "omg this is crazy what's happening next?" kind of way. The characters have an awkward romantic thing going on that just doesn't work well . And the southern redneck swamp people thing just grated, especially as they were described as asymmetrical, tall, strong and generally cranky as features of their tribe- give them either a way to fit in like the Trylle or completely secluded like the underwater Skojare tribe. The interaction with the Omte tribe was weird but that was also tied into the awkward romantic issues. But when they get where they were searching for? It was fast and confused and then ended on another cliffhanger.
Love, the story! Going back to the Trylle world was amazing. I could not put the book down.. Ulla Tulin, was a great character, following her search and discoveries through out the book made it even more of a page turner. Can't wait for the next book.
This was a great sequel to The Lost City, which I also recently read! Returning to the world of the trolls is always very nostalgic for me, and I love learning more about the different troll communities, as well as references to characters from the Trylle or the Kanin.
I liked reading from Ulla's perspective: I like her personality a lot, as well as the fact that she isn't conventionally beautiful, but doesn't let that stop her from being empowered.
This book didn't have second-book-syndrome; in fact, I liked it better than the first book, since a lot of The Lost City was setting up things to happen in the following books.
I'm very excited to read the third book in the series, as well!
I can't decide if I liked this more or less than book one. It has the same extreme need for editing due to missing and wrong words through out. Some parts felt out of place and awkward. The ending was very abrupt. But overall I would have to say that I enjoyed it.

I'm sure this book would have been better if I had read the first one. Unfortunately, the author thrusts you into the midst of things without much explanation, and the book ends just as abruptly. It's really not the best way to do a series.
The romance was awkward and slotted in at moments that felt off. There was also very a very obvious dance being done with it. Oh ho, we kiss. But, someone has just walked in! Now we are not kissing. We shouldn't be kissing. But we will kiss eventually! It wasn't done well. There isn't really a question about the end game so much as the timing, which means it isn't really exciting or interesting.
The troll thing is an interesting concept, but I know nothing about them aside from vague mentions of the previous book. There seems to be some vague nordic mythology involved.
It wasn't a bad book, but it needs some polishing.

When Ulla Tulin took her internship at the MImirin, the only mystery she thought she’d have to solve was that of her birth parents. After a girl named Eliana gets kidnapped while in her care, Ulla knows she has to find out the truth of who Eliana really is - and the only way to do that is by travelling to the Omte capital, the place she suspects her mother is from.
Ulla didn’t expect that when she arrived she would discover the identity of a Skojare man who crossed paths with her mother- a man who could very well be her father. When the head of the Mimirin learns Ulla’s father is connected to the Alvolk, a secret society who believes they were chosen in protecting the FIrst City and the only ones who knows its location. He then sends Ulla and Pan to Sweden where they find him living among the Alvolk.
But all is not what it seems and their urgent quest to find the Lost Bridge to the First City leaves Ulla feeling uneasy - and possibly in danger.
I give this book a rating of 5 stars and highly recommend reading it. I loved this book and couldn’t put it down. The book was well written and the characters were well liked and you really got to know them. The cover was amazing as well. I am also hoping there will be another book to this series!
