This cookbook had some really great recipes. The recipes were easy to understand and not too complicated for the average cook. I enjoyed the illustrations and look forward to making these recipes for years to come.

I love my slow cooker, and I've been using it even more than usual during quarantine. It's such a convenient way to make big meals without too much effort. This is a great cookbook for that – very few of these recipes require you to do additional work on the stovetop or in the oven, which is a thing that annoys me about many a slow cooker cookbook. In addition, I really appreciated that Epstein actually includes recipes from all around the Mediterranean; so many books extolling the Mediterranean diet rarely venture outside of Italy and southern France, with maybe a little bit of Greece thrown in. Here we have recipes for paella, falafel, chicken shawarma, Moroccan fish stew, kofta, and more. The recipes are clear, simple, and there's a *lot* of them. An all-around great cookbook!

Fantastic, easy to follow recipes for those looking for "set it and forget it" meals. Healthy meals that you can throw in your crockpot, and use that time to relax and find other ways to make a healthier you.
Recommended for libraries wanting to build their cookbook collection.

Very accessible, simply designed, and packed with fantastic recipes that yield complex flavors without asking the reader to spend hours prepping and chopping and driving around to find ingredients - the closest thing to, well, an unusual spice is za'atar which may not be in Safeway but could probably be purchased online (and is well worth having around!). I also enjoyed that Ms. Epstein emphasized using the slow cooker during the warmer months - these light recipes are perfect during this hot CA summer when you want something more than a salad but would rather drink hairspray than turn on the oven. A strong recommend!

The health benefits of the Mediterranean diet paired with the convenience of a slow cooker. What could be better? Lots of delicious recipes to choose from.

Fantastic recipes and easy to follow. I love using my slow cooker and I often am trying to find new healthy recipes to try and add to my main dishes.

I love Mediterranean food and I was very excited about this book. Some recipes are honestly easier to cook by other methods but the recipes are still tasty and overall I like the book. I do wish the book had more photos but many of the recipes are easy to prepare. Many are fairly basic as they are meant to be tailored which is both good and bad. I do like to customize favorite recipes. However, I don't necessarily want to start out with something I need to create... The entire point of a recipe is to make it as it is and change what could be better not rework it before I try it. None the less it is a solid cookbook and I like it. I would recommend it to others that like the ease and simplicity of a slow cooker and the flavors of Mediterranean food. I received this book from NetGalley and Callisto Media and Rockridge Press.

Mediterranean food is already heart healthy. Add slow cooking : you eat even healthier because the pot does cooking for you.
What I liked : recipes. Diet recipes. Different recipes.
What I wished for : more photos.
Overall good book for those who want to eat healthy and not cook so much.

This is the author's fourth slow-cooker cookbook, so you know she's had lots of experience with it. That said, I still can't see why someone would want to make some of these dishes in a slow cooker when they could be done in a traditional oven for much less time. For example, there is an egg/spinach/feta casserole that would be awkward to set up in a slow cooker--maybe the night before, but it might be too long in a traditional slow cooker. There are other really interesting dishes that I'd like to try in a slow cooker because it beats frying (e.g., falafel). So, I have mixed feelings about this cookbook, even though many of the dishes look tasty! Also, there is so much white space on the 2nd page of recipes. Why not include a few more photos?

I know the Instant Pot is all the rage, but I am still a huge fan of my slow cooker. I'm also trying to eat better and in that regard, I've been on the lookout for a good Mediterranean cookbook. I liked this one so much that I bought a copy. I like that the dishes aren't things I'm totally unfamiliar with but they elevate them and change things up. They are also family friendly and that is a plus.

I was excited to check out this cookbook and review it. I'm a big fan of using the slow cooker and am trying to eat healthier and the Mediterranean diet is right up my alley. I thought this cookbook was very well but together, the recipes were easy to follow, and there was a good variety of dishes. My only recommendation would be for more photos, but I'm a very visual person.

Almost everyone nowadays is on a perennial diet or trying to stay with healthy eating these days, and it is well known and proven that a diet rich with Mediterranean foods is not only healthy, but diet friendly and delicious. While Mediterranean Diet Slow Cooker Cookbook: 100 Healthy Recipes , by Shannon Epstein, isn’t specifically designed to be for losing weight, it is a timely reminder that Mediterranean food can also be low fat, diet friendly, and delicious.

With the popularity of the Instant Pot, many have abandoned their slow cookers, thinking that they are obsolete. However, even though Instant Pots have slow cooker functions that work reasonably well, regular slow cookers are easier to control, have been proven time and time again over the years, and are still the best appliance for certain dishes, and especially for cooking over a long period of time unattended. Epstein has included dishes that work well in the slow cooker in this excellent cookbook, and the recipes are easy and good. Chicken Artichoke Rice Bake is excellent, as well as Beef Meatballs in Garlic Cream Sauce, Osso Buco, Mediterranean Roasted Turkey Breast, and Shrimp Risotto. There are also several good desserts.

The only drawback to this cookbook is the fact that there are very few photographs of the delicious dishes contained in the book. With modern technology, this is inexcusable. The cookbook is still recommended, however, because the abundance of good recipes outweigh the lack of photos, and it would be a shame to skip this cookbook because of it.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.
