I am somewhat of a fan of T.D. Jakes so I was excited to read this book. However, I just could not get into it. While there are some excellent points made throughout this book, it seemed to go on and on and not really keep my attention. If you've already read Crushing, this is pretty much the same thing with the same ideas.

This was my first T.D. Jakes book but it won't be the last! He does a lovely job presenting the reader with accessible information that can be applied immediately and as their relationship with God grows.

This book was another excellent read written by T.D. Jakes. His style of writing is always so engaging and challenging and this book was no different. Planted with a Purpose offers so much hope to us in our suffering as Jakes encourages us that God uses ALL things, even the most difficult experiences to bring unexpected blessings in our lives. I would recommend this book to anyone going through a rough season because it will inspire them to have hope and trust that God is still in control and leading them in a good path.

Planted with a Purpose is exactly what you would expect in a devotional from T.D. Jakes. His words are powerful and bold. If you have read his books you may not find anything new in this devotional-- but if you are new to TD Jakes, this might be a good introduction! A daily devotion is a nice, quick and easy way to deepen your quiet time. This is one pretty much as expected, well organized and clear.

The publisher made a copy of this book available on Netgalley. This is my honest review.

In Planted with a Purpose, T.D. Jakes explored the topic of discovering your purpose amidst having to face crushing experiences along the way. Even in your pain, you can still find unexpected blessings. Jakes opens up about how he had his own crushing circumstances and one of these was when he witnessed his mother dying. Around this time, he was also speaking at other churches more, his books were becoming best sellers, and even getting a movie deal. He also shared close to this time his daughter become pregnant at thirteen. Critics was spreading their opinions and he felt depressed and crushed along with losing his mother. He shared how during these crushing times we may feel crushed and broken and we may question our suffering and where is God during it. In the book, Jakes looks at biological growth of a human and how the seed becomes a human. He revealed how no person remains a fertilized ovum and how we each grew to something greater. He shared how the Word discussed all seasons of life and how it has a beginning, middle, and the end. He explored the seed in Abraham and how the promise was found in Jesus and how we apart of the vine and how fruit eventually grows. This in turn is to illustrate our fruit bearing from our lives and God can use for our greater purposes. Throughout the book, Jakes also looked at the process of wine making and crushing the grapes, fermenting, and collecting the wine. He explored how our life is like the process of winemaking. He discussed how we have to wait and how with each generation we hate having to wait for things, such as marriage, babies, good job, eating, texting, and much more. We want everything now. Jakes shared in his own life how he had to wait seven years before he preached and he already had many messages worked on. During this time, God was working on building his character, nervousness, heart, and wisdom.

I would recommend this life changing book to anyone who is ready to discover their purpose in life and they may currently be going through a crushing season. But Jakes encourages readers to hold on to hope and he explains how God will use everything in every season of our lives to help us find our true purpose. I immensely connect with how transparent Jakes was in sharing about the pains he felt his life with losing his mother and with his daughter become pregnant and getting thrown a curve ball in life. He shared how God used both of theses to help him find his purpose in life and how God doesn’t waste anything in our life. I liked how he looked at Jesus life and how He took our sins and how during his crushing season, He was preparing us for when we will meet Him in Heaven. I also was encouraged when Jakes reminded readers of the righteous found in Christ and God already sees us as He is. If you’re looking for a book on discovering your purpose, then read this book!

In Bishop Jakes latest release, his goal is to show you how God is with you even when things don't seem to go right. The book seemed very deja vu ish, as it appears to follow along the same line of one of his previous books, Crushed, Which I read and have physical copies when it first came out. If you haven't read Crushed, then you should glean a lot of spiritual insight in this book.

This is a great book to read to transform your outlook . The author uses metaphoric language to appeal to the reader describing the winemaking process to reflect our own growth and development as human beings. He writes of stages of life and how in our broken times we can apply the teachings of God. . If you read this thoughtfully with a open mind you will find much here to take in that is helpful . The author included questions at the end of each chapter.

Thank you to the author and the publisher for the opportunity. I recommend this book with a four star rating.

When I began reading Planted with a Purpose I was apprehensive about the ability for one to connect with what the author, Bishop T.D. jakes, was trying to communicate. The terminology used in the opening of the first chapter made me distant. I believe that some of the terminology used could have been avoidable. As I continued to read, however, his oratorical skills shined throughout this book as he used imagery to instill the point that neither difficult or joyous occasions are happenstance, but are rooted in purpose. The author carries the reader throughout the winemaking process, from seed to wine, to depict our own growth and development as we transition through each stage of life.

Planted with a Purpose is not a book you can rush through. This book should intentionally be read slowly so you can digest the wealth of information Bishop Jakes is providing. The questions at the end of each chapter pulls the reader into tending to the areas that are bruised and broken and apply God’s truth to them. The questions also causes the reader to remember God’s goodness.

This book is not one that I will read once and never pick up again. It had me reflect on the different seasons of my life well after I completed it. It gave me a fresh perspective and reminded me of God’s never failing and never ending love. Thank you to FaithWords for providing a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

What an inspirational read that is perfect for what we are all currently going through. I had not previously read anything by the Bishop but will certainly be seeking out his books from this point forward. I believe this will be added to my list of books to suggest to others right now. Definitely an easy read and even worth a second read as situations in your life change over time.

I Love this book. I think whoever reads this, should read this now and take their time. When I first picked this book I was happy to get a chance to read one of T.D. Jakes new books. I watch his videos and have read many of his books in the past. This one I love, because he gives spiritual advice, and shares his personal stories along with it. He is always positive and truthful. This is a good book to read now for those that are going through a hard time. I am thankful that Netgalley and the publishers let me read this in exchange of an honest review.

I was able to read Planted with a Purpose by T.D. Jakes for free from Netgalley for providing me with an advanced ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was my first book by T.D. Jakes and it was quick easy read. It was the perfect read during this time. He reminds us that if we are experiencing bad moments is not because of anything we did or did not do but because God is setting you up for bigger and better things. He reminds us how we should remind in faith, be patient and to not rush things. God has a plan and we should wait for it. We need to stay United, Strong and Healthy.
