LOVE LOVE Cassandra Claire and everything she writes, I was unable to download this excerpt but will be reading the entire book when it comes out.

I didn't know quite what to expect when I started this book, as this is not the genre I normally read...

I was BLOWN AWAY!!! Holy moly. The characters were incredible, the story was beautifully written, and I found myself feeling like I was right there throughout the whole thing.

Adored it!!!!

Chain of Gold is the first Cassandra Clare book (exerpt, in this case) I have picked up in a while and it has made me remember why her writing is so spellbinding! The other works I have read by this author are The Infernal Devices trilogy, which center around the parents of the main characters of this book--Lucie and James Herondale. This excerpt was the start of a new novel set in Edwardian London, which is what I think Clare does best. The book is already so vibrant and exciting, just like its beautiful cover. I cant wait to dive back into this world!

I am incredibly excited to read the full book, and I think this snippet made me even more excited than before! Will and Tessa were my favorite parts of TID, Will being my favorite male character of all time, and getting the opportunity to read about their children, as well as reading about Shadowhunters in the 20’s (I am SO excited for this setting!!) is soso cool!! Absolutely cannot wait for March 3rd, thankfully we are so close to it being here!! Can’t wait to hold this in my hands.

While fantasy isn’t my usual genre, I really enjoyed this excerpt and would love to read more. Keeping track of all the characters was a bit daunting, but I’m sure with the whole book, they’d fall into place. The opening scene was especially magical and intriguing! Thanks to NetGalley for the excerpt.

I really enjoyed this! This is only the first chapter but I haven't read a book anything like this is such a long, long time so I loved getting back into fantasy. My only problem was keeping up with all the characters and their names, I found myself having to flick back to remember who they are/where they fit into the story but I think this might also be because I haven't read any of the Shadowhunters series before, so I had to try and understand the stuff that mentions those worlds. Clare has been on my TBR for so long and now her books are getting pushed to the top! I can't wait to read the full book!

Well the author who brought the Shadowhunters to glorious life is back and this quick excerpt was very interesting as it introduced the central characters. Obviously as its just a quick snippet so its difficult to guess what will happen next but the cover is absolutely gorgeous . Also if you enjoy something with an historical element then this will surely hit the spot as the characters face off against more demons whilst trying to negotiate through society.

Cassie Clare continues to outdo herself with the first novels in her series. I was hesitant that this book would struggle to make the stakes as high, seeing as it is set in 1903 and so we know the Shadow World can't break apart or be destroyed, but I can tell with this first book that the stakes will still be plenty high. More than that, I can tell that this is going to be a wonderful, character-driven series with more Cassie Clare characters to love than ever before.

Absolutely love the progression I've seen from Cassandra Clare over the years. I do have to admit I struggle at times to re-read her older books, but The Infernal Devices is one of my favourite series so of course I can't wait for this series!

This has gotten me super excited to read the full book!

I love this excerpt so much. This was one of my highly anticipated books. I can't wait to read more of this world.

My feedback is based solely on this excerpt, because I've been meaning to read one of the Shadowhunter books that take place in the past, but never did.
It wasn't confusing to understand, since the author explained the terms and concepts very briefly, and it seems to be a nice mix of adventure with the elements of romance, humor and friendship. I also liked the period details that made the setting very interesting without disrupting the narrative.

Great beginning for what appears to be a fascinating novel on Shadowhunters at the turn of the 20th century.

Well first off James is probably going to be a favorite, because we're all suckers for black hair cuties. The first look definitely leaves you asking so many questions, because you know something is going on if demons are being scarce because come on Shadowhunters are good, but come on there's a bunch of demons! And you know something is going on with miss Daisy's dad. BUT WHAT!?!
Also James can slip into hell but what can Lucie do besides be very very pleased about things. Ooo I need to know all these answers!!!

I wasn't going to get sucked in to another Shadowhunter series. I'd love to see Cassandra Clare create a new world with completely different characters. Nevertheless, this short snippet left me wanting more, I need to know what happens next.

Curiousity got me on this one since I barely managed to read any of her other books, but this one was good; the narrative is so inmersive and detailed.
