I love cowboy romance stories and this interested me. I didn't know about the first book in this series but it not important to read to follow this one. But to know about Tyler and Lainey's story it's a good read.
These 2 have a difficult past and it affects them big time with this relationship. There is so much hurt they are each holding on to. It t as kes a lot to break through it. I think it was close to half way through when it really pulled me in and I was rooting for them to put aside their differences and be honest with one another (more so him) and try to have a real relationship. I felt like they built so much up to the very end I didn't want the book to end. I need more!
I hot a free ARC from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

I'm torn with this book. I loved the beginning. Sarah is sweet and naive but proven herself as a fighter. Cade hasn't had it easy but is a hard worker and willing to go the extra mile for friends. They seems liked they were headed in the right direction but these two really struggled to connect them before I knew it , it was the end of the book and they were falling in love.
I understand that the struggle was real for each of them but it got a little depressing at times.

Best meet-cute! I love the opening of this book. Cade and Sarah were well-written and completely likable. I love that Sarah is 100% in on learning to run her ranch. She's not about to let her medical issues slow her down and she doesn't mind doing the unpleasant and physically taxing jobs. She's tough and determined. Cade's had it rough and has done a great job of creating a good life for himself despite his childhood. He's got some issues to overcome though. Sarah has a life that appeared far better than it really was. She's got a lot of emotional scars too.

The growth and setback in their relationship are a good mix and give us plenty of insight to who these two are and their progressing relationship. There's a good cast of supporting characters as well.

I enjoyed this story.

Pretty good. Missing the fire and sizzle.

I have to say this book left me with many mixed feelings. On one hand the beginning was a bit humorous and started with a fun twist. On the other, I really had issue with Sarah’s character.

This book is the first one I have read by this author so I really had no idea what to expect. I do love a great cowboy romance and this one looked so promising.

Cade was a doll and even though he had his own issues, he had a lot going for him. He was caring and so sweet to Sarah. I loved his friends and several interactions within the book seemed to be the best part of the story.

Sarah, however, was not my favorite character and neither was her housekeeper. Sarah was so extremely sheltered that her character seemed pained about everything having to do with living outside her home. And her housekeeper does not help!

Sarah is awkward and such a huge virgin that she immediately falls for Cade. This was one Insta-love fest. Plus, she came off very un-trusting and way too pushy about his background. She was overly needy.

Unfortunately, I felt no connection between the two. There was some old fashioned romancing and a weird overnight trip, but basically it came off to be a connection of convenience. I wish James was able to sell me better on their blooming relationship.

Overall the story was strong and interesting. I just wish there was more fire and sizzle to seal the deal for me.

This was rather touching with both main characters damaged. Sarah’s brother had died when she was a child and ever since then her parents lived life in limbo while isolating Sarah on their ranch. After they died, she literally had no friends. She hasn’t done anything or seen anything in her life. She has finally decided to hire a new ranch manager and ask him to train her so that she can gain experience managing her own ranch.

Cade came from nothing and has worked hard all his life to make something of himself. He likes his new job working for Sarah and he likes her, but he feels that he is undeserving of any relationship with her.

These are both sad people and the author really lays on the pathos. It was almost too much as she makes both characters have such sad and lonely lives.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

Sweet & sad is how I think of this book. Author Victoria James has weaved a tale of sadness & pain from the past with the sweetness & hope for the future. Cade & Sarah are both damaged by the past & fighting to prove that it won’t damage them any further. The connection between them was great right f on first meeting. I enjoyed Sarah’s quirkinesses with her old sayings & I loved Cade’s determination to make Sarah’s life easier & better for her. I was saddened by how the loss of Sarah’s older brother at a young age literally tore her family apart. It went even further when learning the awful truth of Cade’s youth, but watching the relationship grow between them soothed it. It was definitely enjoyable to watch Cade fall hard for Sarah & realize that he loved her even when he was being a jerk. Definitely recommend this book & series. Thank you to the publisher & Net Galley for allowing me to read this book for an honest review.

After reading the first book I was wanting Cade's book, I had originally thought that Dean would come first, but I was wrong. In this book we meet Sarah Turner who was sheltered after a family tragedy. Now she is the only member in her family and needs to make the ranch successful. She ends up hiring Cade, who leaves the ranch he kind of grew up in, because he feels that his friend need to build his life with his new bride..Cade broke my heart his family were horrible people, and him helping Sarah get better acquainted with the world made me like all the more...Can't wait for Dean's story!!!!

Cade is hired to be the ranch foreman. Sarah was left the ranch when her parents died and she needs help learning to manage it. She has been sheltered due to a family tragedy. She has no friends and is intrigued by Cade. There are plenty of obstacles getting in the way of their romance, mostly themselves, but it is such a sweet story. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Although this book is the second in a series by Victoria James, reading it as a stand alone was fine. Sarah and Cade are well drawn characters with miserable histories that have held them back throught their lives. Can they come to terms with their pasts and put aside their differences? Pick up a copy of #CowboyForHire to learn their fate. You'll surely enjoy this sweet romance!
Thanks to #Netgalley for providing me with an ARC in return for an honest review.

I was offered an Advanced Copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I accepted the ARC since I had already read the first book in the series. I hesitated on requesting a copy from NetGalley because I didn't know if I would care for it. I...was...WRONG! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and couldn't get enough of it. I took my tablet everywhere with me and stole every moment possible to read a little more about Sarah and Cade.

This was such a fun story and it was pretty tame as far as romances go. Cade comes to work for Sarah as the foreman of her ranch and they both have so much emotional baggage from their youth that they have a lot to work through. They just need to realize that they are stronger together!

Definitely worth the read!!!!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Entangled Publishing via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

I fell in love with Wishing River with the first book of the series, "The Trouble with Cowboys". OMGosh, I couldn't read the story fast enough. This story is no different. I devoured the pages and I didn't want to stop reading. Ms. James has been a fantastic job of story-telling. She masterfully crafted a tale of two damaged souls coming together to overcome their past.

Sarah is a young lady who lost her brother when she was ten and her family was never the same again. The ranch was a place of hiding from the world. Cade is a young cowboy who has never received love. He had to prove his worthiness in order to not be discarded.

This story just totally grabbed me right from the beginning. There were moments that were hilariously funny and others that were poignantly heart-wrenching. This story is written in my favorite dual POV format. I can really connect to the characters so much more easily this way.

I was completely saddened to see the story come to an end. It is like saying good-bye to friends until the next book in the series comes out. Ms. James did a great job of included the first couple throughout the story along with the other two from their group. I looking forward to reconnecting with all of them again in the next story.

This is a really sweet, clean romance. I highly recommend this to anyone who love to see two people overcome past hurts and find love.

Cade and Sara are to broken individuals who come together for the good of keeping her family ranch running. Cade comes from a dysfunctional home and feels he has nothing to offer in terms of relationship material. Sara was a sheltered woman brought up with rigid rules. When her parents dies he is left with the ranch a newfound freedom. Hiring Cade was the first step in learning how to run a ranch but she gained a whole lot more. Can these two broken individuals find a common ground to build something into a happily ever after? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.

**I received a copy of Cowboy for Hire from Entangled Publishing and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review.**

Cowboy for Hire by Victoria James is the second book in her Wishing River series. I do have to say that I liked the first book more but this addition did have its moments. There are two damaged souls, a overprotective housekeeper, Mrs. Casey, who tells it like it is and loves her glass of whiskey (This is my fav), a troubled past for both Sarah Turner and Cade Walker and of course the ad that ran for a "Cowboy for Hire who loves long walks...hmm you can imagine how many showed up for interviews but who put the ad in wasn't really answered. But all in all I admired Sarah for standing her ground and being stubborn enough to prove to the hired hands and Cade that she could run the ranch.

Sarah Turner has to prove that she can run the ranch after the death of both her parents but first she has to find a new foreman. Little does she know that Cade Walker from a neighboring ranch is very interested in taking what he's learned from the Donnelly ranch and be a foreman at the Turners. But first she has to learn how to fix fences, go on a cattle drive and also learn the hard truth of how bad the finances for the ranch are after her father's death. But it's turning out to be a lot harder than she thought.

Cade Walker is ready to become a foreman and ranch manager but he didn't think he'd be teaching Sarah as well. She'll surprise him with her determination to learn as well as know all aspects of running her families ranch. But when he starts finding discrepancies in the books he'll have to break the news to her but when he learns the story behind the loss of her brother and parents he'll understand her reason behind learning everything. When he starts to fall in love with her will they be able make it last?

This was such a sweet story, both main characters came with baggage from their childhood and reading about them overcoming their issues together was really cute. At times they frustrated me, especially Cade, but as in real life, people make decisions for those they care about, regardless if it’s what the other person needs

****Cowboy for Hire is an entertaining story about two damaged individuals. Sarah has been isolated from any kind of personal relationships except family since her brother’s death 16 years ago. Cade’s family left him with a significant distrust of any kind of loving relationship. Sarah needs help learning to run the ranch she’s inherited. She has decided that living a life in isolation and by rules she never set is no longer the life she wants. Hiring Cade as her ranch manager is the first step in her liberation. Watching Sarah step out of her comfort zone as written by the capable hands of this author is very enjoyable, albeit somewhat angsty. Watching Cade re-evaluate his life lessons and learn to trust also is enjoyable. These two have chemistry, but she is an innocent and he is her employee. You know there will be a happy ending...this is a romance novel after all...but this reader is sure you will enjoy the journey as much as I did. This book is filled with subtle humor and witty dialogue. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Highly recommend.

Cowboy For Hire, is a really sad romance novel. Sarah is strong to have made it through what happened as a kid. But also shows us what grief can do to destroy a family. Cade is so gentle with her. He has his own demons to overcome.

This second story in the series, is worth your time.
The story centers around Sarah Turner and Cade Walker.
Sarah’s happy childhood changed when she was 10. Her brother’s life came to a tragic end and from that day on, her life was one of sadness, no love, sheltered and lonely. After the death of her parents, she is left to run the family ranch. Something she always wanted to do, but has no idea how to do. An ad brings Cade to her door.
Cade, whom we met in book one, is a complex man who believes he is not worthy of love. His childhood left him with feelings of worthlessness and certainly not good enough for Sarah.
As not only a working relationship but also a friendship develops, both of their lifes are enriched. As he sees Sarah blossom, Cade’s feeling intensify. But when Cade tries to protect her, Sarah felt betrayed and their fragile friendship shatters.
Will they be able to mend it? Will Cade realize that he is worthy of love and can be not only good enough but also he can mean everything to someone special? Will the trust be mended?
This thoughtful and at times heartbreaking story will touch your hearts. Aside from the plot it’s also a reminder that the experiences of our childhood, and family or lack thereof , will definitely affect the individuals as an adult.
I am looking forward to the next story in the series. Will it finally be Dean’s and Holly’s?
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Entangled Amara. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Where to begin with this book? I should start by saying it has its moments.

That said, I did expect more from it. More conflict, more tension to keep me turning the pages. On their own, the characters were super likable and both had so much depth. I could see the story unfolding in real life, but a story is not supposed to be like real life. It's supposed to have a conflict. I guess this is what bothered me the most.

These characters really grow throughout the story

I can't complain about one dimensional characters here. Their backgrounds are quite sad, and they clearly need the emotional support. Sarah learns to stand up for herself, which I applaud so much. She does it even when it means antagonizing Cade, who she cares for very deeply. At one point when he makes a mess of things, she doesn't inmediately cave in but makes it clear he made a mistake.

Cade too is super well defined. Perhaps knowing exactly what his problem is makes him a bit dull, but I appreciate that at least he's got a story. He's got motivations and fears. They're a very important part of this story. And you gotta appreciate a vulnerable male lead.

Fine, okay, there is a conflict, but...

I don't want to spoil anything, even though there is little I can say to truly spoil the book. But there is something our cowboy Cade is keeping from Sarah. That does work and has you wondering what will happen. But it's something that is so in the back of your mind, it doesn't really matter throughout the book, until Cade begins to think about it more and then the conflict actually comes into play.

For a book to keep me hooked I need more. So we get these scenes between our leads, which are nice, I guess. But they're a teeny tiny bit dull. It just feels like there's a lot of talking, and yearning, and pining, and not enough tension, spiciness... I don't know!

I probably wouldn't feel like this if the word 'cowboy' wasn't in the title. It built my expectations, and I was expecting a different kind of story. I expected more banter between the characters. Not that I wanted sweet, responsible Cade to be an asshole. No, I like him as he is. But while he got know Sarah, I really would have appreciated them arguing more, and seeing them work on ranch problems together. Really see how they pushed each other's buttons.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to see that here.

Overall, I'd say this is a nice book. It lacked that added oomph that would've made it awesome.

Sarah’s parents sheltered her from everything in life after the death of her older brother, Joshua. After her parents’ deaths, Sarah becomes determined to lead a full life once again. That includes running the Whiskey River ranch that she inherited from her parents, despite their wishes to the contrary.

Cade has been the foreman for a ranch neighboring Joshua Ranch for several years, but decides to apply for the open position at Joshua Ranch. He is instantly attracted to the beautiful owner of the ranch, but knows that she is off limits. After a horrific upbringing, Cade only values his worth based on how hard he works.

Cade and Sarah become friends, but Cade fights the attraction despite Sarah’s willingness to have a relationship. Can Sarah find the independent and full life she desires and can Cade overcome his reticence to have a relationship and his desire to be overprotective of Sarah?

After tragedy hits Sarah Turner struggles to find her way not only in her personal life, but also on the family ranch. Losing her parents leaves her at a loss on all fronts, she doesn't have a clue how to run the ranch, but knows she better figure it out quick or she runs the risk of losing it. She desperately needs help!

Which leads her to place an ad for a ranch hand, and winds up getting far more than she bargained for when Cade Walker answers it.

With it's delightful story line and charming characters Cowboy for Hire is certain to warm your heart! Upon meeting these two it was evident that they had chemistry, but with Sarah being innocent and shy, and Cade hesitant to get involved it took a bit for them to see what was in front of them. I enjoyed watching the progression of things between them, it had a natural feel, and their feelings for one another were quite palpable... it was a slow burn kind of romance. If you like sweet western romances then I have no doubt you will enjoy this one, the words are captivating and the characters will steal your heart upon first meeting. Highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, via NetGalley request, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
