It was too quick for my liking, i mean it was cute and sweet, quick and easy read.
But it all in turn was too quick, too quick insta-love, not much building of characters or chemistry...
This is a sweet story of two people who aren't looking for love, in fact they are running from it, but find each other. Great characters who are memorable, funny and feel like old friends.
Good story. Not insta-lovey. Maisie was a cute addition. I liked both men in this story and liked them even better together.
Seductive, sweet, and downright salacious!
Carter is the sultry, heartwarming novel featuring the dedicated, talented, pastry chef Elijah and the hard-bodied, hunky, movie star Carter as they discover together a sense of purpose, passion, and fulfilment beyond their careers and the importance of family, friendship, and a place to call home.
The writing is provocative and light. The characters are devoted, supportive, and kind. And the plot unravels quickly into a tale full of sizzling chemistry, undeniable attraction, familial responsibilities, community, fame, tender moments, sexy times, and scrumptious treats.
Overall, Carter is a spicy, uplifting, sensuous tale by Salinger that’s another fantastic addition to the Twilight Falls series and a perfect example of why when it comes to writing racy banter and erotic M/M sex scenes she’s one of the best.
This is a sweet and extremely sexy book about two people figuring themselves and their lives out after some pretty major changes.
After the death of his sister and her husband, Carter because the guardian and caregiver to his young niece. Who, in turn, has been traumatized by the loss of her parents. With a career as a top-grossing movie star, This means some pretty major changes to allow his little family time to heal and not be scrutinized constantly by the media.
Elijah is a renowned pastry chef, returning to Twilight Falls to pursue his dream of opening a small bakery after a serious breakup. Carter and his niece move in next door right around the time Elijah is opening his bakery. Maisie's night terrors are keeping up the whole neighborhood and Elijah isn't sure what to think.
He and Carter connect after a little misunderstanding and both see something in the other that they've been missing.
I deeply appreciated the clear communication and openness between both Carter and Elijah. They don't try to hide things from each other - and deal with all the issues that come up openly and with their hearts in the right place. Carter is threatened by a really nasty producer - she threatens to out him as bisexual unless he starts a relationship with her again. Elijah is being actively pursued by his ex (who cheated on him). Each hurdle is handled authentically and with grace by both of them. Issues that we routinely break people apart in other books because of a lack of communication are handled beautifully here.
This is a quick read - with just the right amount of drama and lots of hot sexy-times!
I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are my own.
This is the second book in the Twilight Falls series. These are fairly short stories with a hot and heavy romance theme. This series focuses on a group of friends, known as the terrible seven. In the first book, we saw Alex find his 'one' through an arranged marriage. This time we have Carter, an international movies star and Elija, a pastry chef. Carter has a reputation for sleeping with just about every woman he comes across, but what the rest of the world doesn't know is that he is bi. When his sister dies he becomes the sole guardian for his niece. This is the start of a complete life change for Carter and when he meets Elija things change even more.
I liked this story and enjoyed the romance between Carter and Elija. It is a bit instant attraction and things do move very fast, but sometimes that's just what you want and what works.
I wasn't entirely sold on the idea that his career would suffer when he came out as gay, it seemed a bit of a stretch in this day and age, but maybe that's the case, I don't know. Overall I enjoyed it though.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
