So this book made me sad....sad for humanity, sad for author. Well worth a read.
Thanks to author, publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book. While I got the book for free,it had no bearing on the rating I gave it.
This book was powerful and brought out off of the emotions. You follow her through a momentous turn in her life and she reemerges a stronger, independent woman. This book was so good!
A memoir of the dissolution of a woman's marriage and her many affairs during the half dozen years after. She runs through the gamut of emotions regarding her husband, and they create an amicable relationship mostly for the benefit of their young daughter. They buy houses across the street from each other. They continue to sleep together. (Who she is sleeping, how often, and when are very intrinsic to the story).
After the separation, the woman embarks upon affair after affair, pining for commitment and monogamy from men who have no desire for either. Many one-night stands, much alcohol, holding torches for men who discard her. This goes on and on.
It seems the one thing this woman cannot do is be alone with herself. She is constantly looking for another lover, another distraction, someone to share her bed. She seems unable or unwilling to be with herself without seeking solace in someone else's drama.
This book could have been half the length it is and made the same points.
