Jane and Adam are lifetime enemies stemming from a feud that goes back 70 yrs. When they both end up at their creditors at the same time, they can't imagine why. The man they both own money to had called in their debts, but neither can pay what is needed.
The feud started with the disappearance of money, if they could only find it, their problems might be solved. What neither knew, was that they each held a key to finding the missing money. If they can let their animosity go and work together, they might be able to save themselves. But the terms of their lender mean that the money can only save one of them. Who will be saved and who will be left in ruin?
I enjoyed this story but it took a little while to warm up to. But once I did, I really enjoyed it. The riddle of the letters that both Jane and Adam had, intrigued me and kept me wondering where the story would lead. Throughout the story our H/H retell things that they did to one another as the hated enemy and they are quite comical. There is a part in the story where they are sharing math puns that had me laughing out loud (the math teacher in my really enjoyed that!)
This book is what I would call a sweet romance, they only kissed once and relations were not even spoke about.
This was a sweet enemies to lovers romance! Jane & Adam have had a family this for seventy years. The two are in debt and find out they must pay or suffer the consequences. The two embark on a journey through northern England for a treasure of coins that belongs to them in hopes to save just one of their family mills. This book had lots of landscape descriptions, getting to know the real Jane and Adam, and what it’s like to fall in love! It was an adorable sweet read!
Fair Weather Enemies by Sawyer North is a sweet and intriguing historical romance. A story of forbidden love, enemy families, and a difficult treasure hunt through the lake district of nineteenth-century England. The characters are well-written with witty banter and a slowly building romance that will sweep you off your feet. I look forward to reading more from the author
I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is a new author for me and decided to give it a shot. This an enemies to lovers story. In this story we have two feuding families that are forced to work together in order to save their families. I did enjoy the story but at times the journey the character took seemed long. I did enjoy the growth in the characters. I will have to look for more from this author.
As Jane and Adam embark on a trek throughout England they plan to hate their adversary, no matter how attractive, generous, and kind they are.
Sometimes, plans change...
This new to me author didn't impress me. The book read like something fantastical rather than romantic. This isn't what I like in a romance.
I gave it a rather low rating for me, 3 of 5 stars.
I received a complimentary copy to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book and all opinions are my own.
A family feud between the Hancocks and Ashfords has lasted more than 70 years and brings Adam Ashford and Jane Hancock to the brink of ruin. Their only way out of an egregious contract with a vile solicitor is to find a long sought after gold bounty. They must follow clues in two separate letters to understand the full impact of the clues. Thus begins the adventure that will change their lives forever.
Sawyer North is a new author for me and I must say had me intrigued with his story from the opening pages. It was delightful watching Adam and Jane go from enemies to more than friends in 30 days while on the hunt for the gold. Jane's aunt Hester and Mr. Barlow accompany them and keep them moving toward the end of the clues. I absolutely loved the witty banter between Jane and Adam, first with insults and then with the retelling of all the pranks they have played on each other throughout their lives to their final declarations. I couldn't wait to see how they would get out of an ironclad contract that had one winner and one loser. Adam would lose her ancestral home and Jane would go to debtors prison on the toss of a coin. Needless to say I couldn't put the book down until I had read the final page. The writing is well done and the plot moved along at a good pace. I just sorry there aren't any more novels from Mr. North. I definitely look forward to his next one.
