The cat decides he wants two homes and this is how the hero, Theo and heroine, Lara meet. A cute book which is a must for cat lovers. A great romantic escape. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me review this book.

When Lara is dumped by Lucien in the middle of a jazz club the first thing, she does is call her best friend Siobhan, only to find out that it is her oldest gal pal that is to become her replacement. Utterly heartbroken she returns home to drown her sorrows with a bottle of wine in the company of her cat Fluffy.

A few streets away, Theo loves his job as a jazz musician. Playing with his band all night and unwinding in the early hours at home with his cat Satchmo.

What they don’t know is that it’s the same cat.

When a pyjama-clad evening cat hunt causes the two to meet, they realise they are co-parenting and the fur begins to fly. But will it turn out that Lara and Theo have much more in common then a cat?

Having never read anything by Tennant before, but having seen a lot of praise for her books, I requested this book for something light and easy, and that is exactly what I got.

I enjoy the rom-com genre for its simplicity and predictability. I often read them in between heavier novels as light relief, and this book was no exception.

The characters were likeable, although it did take me a good while to warm to Lara. She came across as quite stand-offish and quick to react hot headedly in simple situations, but about halfway through she seemed to mellow out. Fluffy/Satchmo was amusing, he had all the usual arrogance of a cat but Tennant wrote him in such a funny way he really became his own personality in the story.

If you’re after something easy-going, this book is a good choice.

Lara and Theo have been sharing the same cat, only they don’t know it! Lara has called the cat Fluffy, and Fluffy appeared when Lara was alone and really needed him. Theo calls the cat Satchmo and relaxes with him after playing saxophone in a band. When the penny drops and both Lara and Theo realise that the cat has been living with both of them, they also discover that they don’t really like each other! Can the cat play cupid and bring them both together?

I love this author and never miss one of her books. This one looked absolutely delightful with its bright, colourful cover and let’s face it, who could resist a book about a matchmaking cat! I loved Fluffy (or Satchmo, depending on who you are talking to!) on first sight, and had visions of what he looked like! I have two cats myself, so whilst I know how comforting they can be, I also know how fickle they are always changing their allegiances to who gives them the best food!

Lara is a great character and is dealt a low blow at the beginning of the book when her boyfriend dumps her for her best friend. Theo is devilishly handsome, despite being a bit difficult to get along with initially! They are both really likeable characters though, and whilst you always know how books of this genre are going to pan out, I love waiting to find out how it was all going to come together! The other characters complimented the storyline perfectly, although I really don’t think I’ll be giving up the day job any time soon to become a wedding planner like Lara – some of those brides and bride’s mothers were just horrible!!

This book was easy to read and had, on the whole, such a fun, light-hearted storyline. It did feature some important themes of trust, self-esteem, break-ups, friendships and of course, love! Following the characters, particularly Lara’s, ups and downs through life was heart-warming and the ‘will they, won’t they’ storyline was filled with lots of lovely moments and plenty to make you giggle! Of course, the star of the book award goes to Fluffy/Satchmo, whose antics brought both happy and sad tears to my eyes! A wonderfully romantic read, which I thoroughly enjoyed! Five Stars!

I adore Tilly Tennant’s writing and was really looking forward to this one, I was not disappointed: from the very first paragraph, which made me laugh out loud, I was hooked.
As alway’s Tilly’s style of writing is so easy to read with wonderful characters you can really warm to. The story flowed really well, following the story of Lara, who, on a stormy night when she loses both her boyfriend and best friend, is befriended by a kitten, who she names Fluffy.
A little bit like Six Dinner Sid, Flora discovers that Fluffy has more than one place he calls home, and more than one name. In her attempts to tempt Fluffy back away from the delights of his second home Lara encounters his other ‘owner’. The chemistry between them is high and it isn’t long before they can no longer ignore it and are drawn together, but their relationship, and car ownership is not without its problems.
I enjoyed reading the ups and downs of Lara’s love life, her life as a wedding co-ordinator and cat owner - but as all cat lovers know: cats don’t have owners, they have staff.
My one disappointment, and the reason for not giving it 5 stars, was the final chapter. It just seemed to fizzle out a little, and focussing on the renaming of the cat didn’t really make sense when the title of the book was changed from A cat named Cupid (in my opinion a better title than the one it was changed to). However, it is still a really great read & reminds me why I love Tilly Tennant’s books so much.

This book was just okay and here's the reason why:
I found the beginning of the book to be very slow paced to the point where it was boring. I couldn't care less for Lara's job (wedding business) and most of her dialogues with her mother were unnecessary and repetitive, always talking about how she was dumped and how she didn't like Lucien (Lara's ex-boyfriend) and blah blah blah. Honestly her mom's conversation were just filler.
Then when the male love interest is introduced I had some issues with him... I didn't like him, he's too pretentious and in the beginning when he keeps saying that the cat is his, it's annoying. Are you really that petty that you have to say stuff like "let's decide with whom he wants to live with and who he likes more" and whatnot when Fluffy/Satchmo obviously belongs to Lara (she mentions that she has him for 12 months which is longer that Theo). This is one really pissed me of because I own a cat and if a stranger came to me and kept claiming that my cat is his I would flip.
In a very short summary, the romance was okay and I did like the way it ended up developing even though I wasn't the biggest fan of Theo but it could have been better.
I stayed for Fluffy and Lara really.

One Cat graces two homes and two different owners, well at least two different owners. Who knows what this lovely cat gets up to. This is the story of two cat owners but only one cat.
Lara calls her grey cat Fluffy and she loves him dearly. He comes into her life when her boyfriend has just dumped her and left her heartbroken. He is there for her, he comforts her, loves her and tries to be indispensable through those early days after he stalks into her home and her heart from nowhere and stays forever. Lara’s life changes completely after ‘that night’, she literally turns her life around. She might have lost two humans and her dignity after her cheating boyfriend went off with her best friend, but she gained Fluffy and started up a fledgling business as a Wedding Planner, and in that first year after she was unceremoniously dumped she was successful enough to employ an assistant. Yes she was completely over that nightmare until one night when Fluffy failed to return home. Out she goes in her nightwear, unable to sleep and with an uneasy feeling in her stomach. Where could he be?
Theo’s life is also going well and his love of music sees him join a jazz group that is very successful locally. Life can be a bit of a whirl with gigs booked in pubs and even at private parties where the employers want a dance band. He loves the buzz of performances with their music being popular and greatly appreciated. There’s nothing better than seeing a roomful of people having a great time. It means late nights and the job can be unpredictable workwise, but he can always stay in bed late to catch up on his sleep and it is nice to have days off. Yes, he is a very happy man, renting his home and enjoying his handsome and friendly cat Satchmo. Then one night his cat goes missing so off he sets in the dark early hours of the morning. That’s when they meet, both looking in their local streets and calling for their cat. It doesn’t go well and I can tell you after that they do not get on at all. She thinks he’s a cat-napper when she finds out that her Fluffy is his Satchmo and he will not relinquish his cat to her. I wonder how it all ends. This heart-warming Rom Com story will tell you all about their laugh-a-minute antics, fiery arguments; passionate making ups and lots more!
I enjoyed this flowing and enchanting story with its pleasingly uncomplicated ‘will they, won’t they’ storyline and lovely storytelling. I liked both of the main characters; I loved crafty pleasure-taking ‘Cupid’ (as the troublesome cat became known by the end of the story) and I thought his actions were just the sort of thing cats sometimes do. I didn’t like Lara’s controlling and trouble-making ex at all and thought he was horrible to put her down so that her self-confidence and self-esteem was very low. I enjoyed the humour and the warmth of the storytelling as well. I received this charming novel through my membership of NetGalley and from publisher Bookouture, all in return for an honest review. This is my 3.5* review. All the opinions are my own with no influence from other parties. I recommend this as a light, romantic, and rewarding read.

I like Tilly Tennant's books, this one has such a beautiful cover, and it also features a cat as one of the main characters. I absolutely love cats, when I'm not reading books, I'm often found watching cute cat videos. This was the perfect book for me.
Lara is having the worst day of her life, when a stray cat appears, and decides to move in and comfort her.
A year later, she discovers that her cat also belongs to a neighbour Theo, who she hated at first sight. A battle over ownership takes place.
This is a fun and charming read. The romance is slow burning to begin with, it would have been nice to have more of the romance, but it was enjoyable and heartwarming.
The characters were well written, and the story flows well. If you are a fan of Tilly's books, then you will love this one.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC.

What a beautiful book this is! I wasn’t sure what to expect at first but once I started reading I couldn’t stop. Would definitely recommend

The night Lara finds out her boyfriend and best friend have been seeing each other is easily the worst of her life. It's also the night a stray cat walks into her life bringing her unexpected happiness. Naming him Fluffy the have an instant bond that helps Lara deal with her heartbreak.
He also brings Theo into her life, Theo who believes that he is the owner of the cat he calls Satchmo.
Lara and Theo argue over who is the cat’s rightful owner.
Although Lara no longer believes in Happy Ever After she runs a successful wedding planning business and in spite of trying to avoid Theo their paths keep crossing.
Could they end up sharing more than a cat?
Really enjoyed this, Lara and Theo are great characters and the story line was lovely. Perfect to lose yourself in for a few hours!

This book is about a cat, but not just about a cat. It's more what the cat does and the consequences that are the start of this great story.

When you went through something devastating, an animal can often give you the comfort that you need.  At that moment it feels like he is the only one you can trust and the only one that stands by you. In return you would go through tick and thin for him.

After a period of grieve, it's time to turn things around. Everything works out, but Prince Charming is still missing. Sometimes you need a little help from your friends. This time it's a furry friend that makes wishes come true.

This is a lovely book about love lost and found, betrayal, friends lost and found, lies and trust written in a nice and fluent style.

I love weddings and I was in for a treat here. There were parts that broke my heart and parts that made me smile.

Every cloud has a silver lining and even if those clouds sometimes are very grey and filled with a lot of rain the sun will always break through to warm your heart and fill it with love. 5 stars

Thank you, Tilly Tennant and Bookouture

A Cat Called Cupid
by Tilly Tennant

Such a cute, fun book! Who doesn’t love a sweet romance with an adorable kitty added in as a bonus? Well written, likable characters (well most of them ...), and a hopeful storyline with a happy ending.

Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.

When Lara splits up with her boyfriend after finding out he has been seeing her best friend behind her back she gets home to find a cat on her doorstep. She tries to find out who the cat belongs to with no joy and decides to keep him. When the cat goes missing she tries to find him, she bumps into Theo who is also looking for his cat. What they don’t know it both their cats are in fact the same cat. What will happen between Theo and Lara when they realise this.

Another brilliant boom by Tilly Tennant.

Initially attracted by the cover of this one, the story inside is equally as stunning.
This is such a magical and heartwarming story, I have absolutely adored this and I'm really sad that I will never be able to experience reading this for the first time again.
I have loved the characters in the book, the development of the love story is just utterly perfect. This is such a gorgeous read, I definitely recommend this one, it should be on everyone's TBR list.
I cannot say anything negative about this one, it has been the perfect book to switch off with at the end of a busy day.
This is most definitely a five star read, I only wish I could give this higher. It is truly deserving of all the stars and is magical.

"A Cat Called Cupid" by Tilly Tennant is a cute story about a woman, Lara, who's boyfriend, Lucien, dumps her for her best and childhood friend, Siobhan. She finds out in the middle of a date at this Jazz club and proceeds to dump her drink on Lucien head and walk miles home in the pouring rain crying her eyes out. Bad enough finding out your boyfriend dumps you, but has been cheating on you with your best friend. So she numbly walks home soaked to the bone only to find a stray cat, soaked as well, there when she gets back to her home. Well she bonds quickly with the cat, she calls "Fluffy", and feels he's all she has now, and decides to use this time to bury herself with a new career as a wedding planner. Now cats being cats, Fluffy loves to roam the neighborhood at night and sometimes forgets to come home. It was during one of these times she has a "run-in" with a man out looking for his cat "Satchmo" and they find out it's the same cat and a feud begins over who's cat "Fluffy/Satchmo" is... well the cat becomes the matchmaker of these two who at first can stand each other, but "Cupid" aka "fluffy" aka Satchmo" has other ideas. A cute story with a lovely ending, but to be honest, it really drags the first 10 chapters or so, but hang in there the story does pick up and is worth reading. Tilly Tennant is a new author to me, but I've heard and read some nice reviews about her so I will try and read some of her other books to see. I've given this 3 stars, I would of given it 3 1/2 if I could, but because the first third of the book dragged on so much this is all I could give.

It was a horrible day: from finding out that her boyfriend had dumped her in some ‘hipster jazz bar’ to walking to her best friend’s house and discovering just WHO she had been thrown over for, to getting sopping wet in the rainstorm that hid her tears of frustration, anger and hurt – it just wasn’t great. And then, half-dressed and fully in a state she meets a bedraggled cat who seems to have settled right in. She’s shattered by the breakup, but Fluffy and her pushing the Go Button on her wedding planning business have her busy and focused.

But Fluffy is a wanderer – often you’d find Lara out looking for him late at night, dressed in pajamas and a jacket, whisper-calling his name. Until she flips Theo on his back – also out looking for his cat, Sachmo, and the sparks start flying from there. These two are chalk and cheese, with an underlying current of attraction that is hard to ignore, despite them both giving it their best shot. Even worse, at a wedding that she’s coordinating, it turns out Theo plays a saxophone with the band, and the ‘leader’ is also a friend of her ex.

And the fur flies on this one: from her dealing with Bridezillas, to her ex trying to manipulate the situations and perceptions around him to the problems of communication and cat-sharing between Lara and Theo. But time and hard work, a bit of scare and plenty of good intentions, for Lara is simply one who is a bit of a control freak but truly wishes the best for others, the story reads quickly with plenty of moments to laugh and want to shake everyone in the room. Tilly Tennant manages to build characters and tell stories about people who you want in your corner or on your speed dial….complete, flawed, vulnerable and human: just the sort of people we all are, and that makes this a purrfectly delightful story. . And when you find everything works out for the best possible options for everyone in the end, you can’t help but smile after reading in an afternoon hideaway with a cup (or three) of tea, some biscuits and a kitty curled up as only they can.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

The cat's name is Fluffy. Or is it Satcho? He answers both to two different owners. The true fact is that he owns two humans. Fluffy/Satchmo has it all. A place to hang out during the day, and a place to hang out at night. And, a very full belly to boot.

One day the cat doesn't turn up at neither residences. Lara and Theo are about to meet as they scour the neighborhood for their missing cat. Roaming about in the neighborhood they keep calling out. While Lara is calling for Fluffy, she is approached by a man, and she reacts quickly and effectively, flipping him on the ground. That is how they meet.

When it becomes clear that the cat they are both seeking, any chance on kindness quickly dissipates and they become instant enemies. They find the cat are both grabbing at the him, who, in rather quick fashion, takes off again. Things are not going well for either of them. The cat, on the other hand, certainly has no worries.

Lara is especially affected. Hurt by a man who cheated on her, she decided to start over again as a wedding planner. She may never find happiness, but she will go to whatever means to start happy couples on their journeys in life. Finding Fluffy gave her something to love at a difficult time in her life. Since Fluffy always came back, she never worried he would actually disappear, so she is heartbroken. And now that she almost had him back, a sexy stranger is declaring that the cat is his. Lara cannot help but wonder why she is drawn to the man, despite the fact that she hates the fact that he is claiming Fluffy to be his, and has even given him a name of his own.

Theo has his own feelings about Satchmo. As a busy jazz musician, he enjoys being able to relax with his new fur buddy. As far as he is concerned, Satchmo belongs to him, and the beautiful Lara can go find another cat. Lara and Theo continue to cross paths. Despite their rocky beginning - and the fact that at least one of them might end up giving up their beloved cat - sparks fly.

I have to admit that I am a sucker to romances with pets, and A Cat Called Cupid is just the perfect book with a beautiful, wise, rather matchmaking cat. The book cover works too, showing a house on the left and one on the right with the cat in the middle. How could I not read this for review?

This delightful tale (pun intended) by Tilly Tennant is a very sweet read - all of her books are. I was drawn into the story from the very first page and happily sat and read it from cover to cover in one sitting. I truly enjoyed the fact that Lara got another chance at love and her own happy future. The story progressed on several levels as Lara and Theo found love, with a lovely tabby along for the ride.

Many thanks to Bookoture and to NetGalley for this ARC to review. This is my honest opinion.

I love cats (and dogs too), I love romances where two lost souls find each other when they least expect it, so my interest was raised right away and the cat playing such a big role in the story as a catalyst bringing people together was the big fat bonus that really sold it for me. So while I don't read romance novels very often I simply couldn't resist A Cat Called Cupid when I saw it. I can't believe this is my first novel by this author, even though she has written 30ish books now, but yes... the cat did it!

This novel was very engaging and easy to read. The friendship between Lara and her employee Betsy is warm and sweet enough to make you jealous as well as making you want to work for Lara yourself. I'm not sure I'd have the patience and professionalism Lara has when problems occur on a couple's wedding day. A big part of the story shows Lara organising weddings (some couples book her only for the day, others ask her to organise everything herself from start to finish) and I quite enjoyed reading about her work.

Time and time again her path crosses with Theo, the man who tries to snatch her cat Fluffy away from her, claiming it's his cat and calling him Satchmo. I could easily identify with Lara's feelings towards her pet and what Fluffy meant to her. She would do anything for that cat and I could only cheer her on to fight for him. Can she win this fight though? The little naughty furrball has a cattitude and likes to play both fields. It is a game of push and pull that ensues between both cat owners but it is the cat himself who ultimately brings a truths between them, even though it wasn't his intention. Can it hold, who will get sole ownership, and will these enemies turn into lovers, because you'll wish for it right away when you meet them and they meet each other. You'll have to read and see :-).

A Cat Called Cupid is a a warm read and perfect escapism. If you're a cat lover you'll want to read this purrrrfect novel!

This was a book that I was extremely eager to pick up! I love books that their main focus is on the romance. They make for nice, fluffy, stress-free reads.

Tilly Tennant wrote a super-sweet story featuring an enemies-to-lovers couple who just needed a little push to realize they were right for each other. The writing was just what I was hoping; the pacing was solid, and the story was engaging.

My only complaint was that I just didn't love the characters. And, I think that's just because they felt a little flat to me. Like I couldn't quite connect with them.

I do love a story where the girl with the broken heart gets the (right)guy in the end. I will definitely be reading more from Tilly Tennant!

I'll read just about anything where a cat is somehow a focus, so reading this was a given. Unfortunately, it was just...okay. I'd like to return to this book at another time. I think I could like it more on a second read, but this felt rather slow-moving. It took much longer than I expected to meet Theo, and I was hoping to get back-and-forth points of view. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice romance (and a fluffy cat).

According to my friends I am one cat away from being the stereotypical crazy cat lady, appparently I need to have three first. It therefore was inevitable that I would make a beeline for this book and it didn't disappoint. The plot wasn't complicated, it was just a nice well written romantic comedy and that was exactly what I was looking for. I really enjoyed reading about several of the peripheral characters just as much as the main ones. I loved Lara's slightly ditzy mother Fay as well as trainee wedding planner Betsy. Not forgetting the bridezillas who really do range from the sublime to the ridiculous. Who's for a Frozen themed wedding with just one thimg missing, a groom. Not forgetting of course the star of the show, our very own matchmaker Fluffy/Satchmo.
