Who knew cats could meddle as well as humans! Leave it up to a cute sneaky ball of fur to bring two people together! Lara finds her cute cat Fluffy on the worst possible night of her life! What she didn’t expect....he belonged to someone else as well! Theo and Lara are brought together when both happen to lose their cat! What they never expected; he was the same cat!
As old hurts from Lara’s past come out her and Theo find themselves even more at each other’s throats, but that doesn’t stay the case for long!
I enjoyed the quick wit and funny banter between the characters! A cute romantic story filled with some hilarious moments!
It is all over for Lara, her boyfriend tells her that it is over and that there is someone else and Lara knows exactly who it is. Walking out of the restaurant, Lara cannot get a cab home, its raining and then she is followed home by a cat who insists on being let in and making itself at home. It seems that Fluffy which Lara calls her is the only thing she can rely on.
Trouble is Fluffy is also known as Satchmo and has ben getting regularly fed and watered at Theo's house.
When Lara sees Theo and Fluffy/Satchmo a rather interesting dynamic develops and it seems that there is going to be a continual battle over the cat.
But as Lara is a wedding planner and Theo plays in a band - it looks like there paths are going to continue to cross and the issue about whose cat it is, is not going to go away.
It anything though the cat is bringing Lara and Theo together and no matter how hard they try, the organised Lara and laid back Theo seem the perfect fit if only they could be honest with each other.
An enchanting book which captures your heart and you can be swept along with the 'loveliness' of it all as the characters go through ups and downs in a "will they won't they" between Lara, Theo and of course the cat! Add in the backdrop of weddings and you have a booked packed with romance!
I enjoyed this light, easygoing, although a bit predictable novel. There was just a little too much detail and time spent on the wedding business and with Betsy at the office, but the dialogue was snappy and the plot thoroughly original.
Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This book started out on a sad note when Lara finds out her boyfriend, Lucien, was cheating on her with her best friend. But the book quickly turned around to a lot of positive changes took place in Lara’s life.
Lucien always put Lara down when she spoke of her dream career, so after the breakup, Lara decided to start her own business as a wedding planner. On the night of the breakup, a stray cat started coming by Lara’s house. Lara named the cat Fluffy. But it turned out Fluffy was a neighborhood cat and Theo, a jazz musician who lived in Lara’s neighborhood, also claimed Fluffy as his cat, only naming him Satchmo. The night Lara and Theo met, when Lara was looking for Fluffy/Satchmo, wasn’t a good first impression. In fact, they ended up disliking each other immediately. But as Lara and Theo found themselves working at the same weddings, they eventually began a friendship that soon grew into romance. Because Fluffy/Satchmo was the one who brought Lara and Theo together, he remained the center of attention and was an important part of the story.
This was a fun book to read, but it could be very emotional in parts. I liked the author’s writing style. She created believable characters with real life struggles and an interesting storyline. I admired Lara’s strength and how she handled the breakup and moved on to live her dream. I also enjoyed the relationship between Lara and Theo, through their ups and downs and misunderstandings, that eventually led to a happy ending. This book is a good one for anyone who loves romance and cats.
A Cat Called Cupid is Tilly Tennant’s latest novel. It’s a quick and easy read that I found to be most enjoyable. I found I really warmed to Lara. She was such a likeable character and had great relationships with her mum and employee Betsy. I would say this is a book you could totally immerse yourself in and read in one sitting. It covers love, romance, deceit and hope so will appeal to so many readers along with any cat lovers!
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the chance to review.
A Cat Called Cupid by Tilly Tennant a fluffy five-star read. This is sweet and romantic story, that will make you want to curl up with a book a hot cuppa and a cat (or a similar substitute). Lara and Theo will just make you smile, and Betsi will just add to the smiles as well, just in a different way. I didn’t know what I was going to write about this one if I’m honest as it did go on in a couple of places, and I did drift, and I just hated one or two of the characters, but in the end it was simply magic and it made up for the drops in every way.
Same cat, two names, two owners then a calamity,. One very successful career, one not so, Will things work themselves out, well you will have to read this lovely book to find out. I enjoyed this from the very first page and I am sure you will too. I wont give you any more spoilers but I will give this 5 stars. I recommend this to all, a very well written novel so get it and enjoy it.
As a huge fan of anything written by Tilly Tennant, I was really excited to find that she had a new book out and couldn’t wait to get started reading. As I anticipated, the story had me drawn in right from the start, laughing and crying with its characters right to the end.
On what she feels has to be the worst night of her life, wedding planner Lara arrives home to find a bedraggled kitten begging to be let in out of the rain. Although never having planned to have a pet cat, Lara takes him in, and Fluffy soon becomes her new best friend and confidant. However, while searching the streets for him one night, she discovers that Fluffy has been two-timing her with musician Theo, who believes that the cat (known in Theo’s house as Satchmo) belongs to him. The argument over cat ownership rages on for some months where Lara unfortunately can’t seem to stop bumping into Theo, but her feelings of annoyance are gradually changing to something else, perhaps even attraction. Meanwhile, Lara’s business is growing nicely, some of her experiences with weddings being hilarious, but others horrendous. Lara’s young assistant, Betsy, and her mother, Fay, also add humorous episodes to the narrative.
I very much enjoyed this light romantic comedy. As well as a nice balance of romance and humour, the story covered quite a range of emotions as Lara suffered betrayal from one direction, found real friendship from another and picked herself up from despair to success in a new venture; a really heart warming tale. I liked all of the main characters in the story, with the obvious exception of Lara’s ex and her difficult clients. I’m not sure I could deal with people like that and remain professional. I was a little worried about Theo and how he could make a living with his casual approach to his music; perhaps he was working more than came out in the story. The only thing that did disappoint me slightly was that the book came to an end quite suddenly. I felt that there was something missing between the last two chapters. That said, I think that this is definitely another Tilly Tennant book that would make a nice addition to anyone’s collection.
It is always painful to read about a woman suffering from a controlling partner who doesn't appreciate her. So I think Lara was lucky when her sorry excuse of a boyfriend dumped her for her best friend. However, it was still a heartbreak for her and Fluffy, the stray cat she took in that awful night, right after the breakup, helped her heal. It is little wonder Lara is attached to the cat and is horrified when someone else claims Fluffy (or Satchmo) as theirs. Luckily, after a stormy beginning there is a happy ending of course.
I loved this story. Lara had a dream and she was not afraid to make it happen. Her new love interest Theo was also a likeable characterand so were the supporting characters too. I loved the loving connection between Lara and her mum. It was also very interesting to read about the wedding planner's job, the "bridezillas" and so on.
All in all: It is a lighthearted, fun read to make you smile. I definitely recommend it.
The premise of this book is really cute and sounded really fun. A romance between two people who discover they've been sharing their cat? Sounds great, right? But reality was a bit of a let down.
The writing felt rushed and holey, and there were some weird time jumps for seemingly no reason. I would have preferred to have read about the character development instead of skipping ahead every time. The main character, Lara, was a very immature and unrealistic. Most of the times she behaved like a spoiled teenager even tough she was supposed to be a grown independent woman. Her relationship with Theo was also kind of unbelievable. They went from hating each other to a serious relationship without ever getting to know each other. It was strange.
Sweet cat story with human servants.
As cat owners know, many cats will tour neighbours and wander quite long distances. If, by any chance, someone starts to feed them, then they will visit regularly.
Cupid aka Fluffy (aka who knows how many names) is such a cat. Starting life as a stray means wandering was already in his behaviour patterns.
Fighting over who owns such a Wanderer is also common. The simple answer is don't feed cats that are in good condition.
This was a very fun read as two people are brought together when a cat decides to alternate his time between the two of them. They move from being enemies to lovers. The book starts off with the typical story about a woman whose boyfriend cheats on her. But a stray cat helps her get over her sorrow and rebuild her life and start a new career as a wedding planner. She’s just ready for a laid-back jazz band musician. She’s uptight and he’s relaxed, but attraction sometimes doesn’t make much sense. But it all works here.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.
This book was a lovely, light-hearted read that I enjoyed and would definitely recommend. However, I believe the cat wasn't mentioned as much as I would have hoped and felt that their relationship blossomed more because they wanted to hate each other, knowing that they actually didn't, not so much because of Cupid himself. I also wished there was a little less dialogue and more romance, but all that said, it is still absolutely worth the read.
Really cozy lovely book.
Theres a cat called cupid fluffy and swatches or whatever it is. He has tuned up on Lars step when she needed someone and hasnt left ever since but every now and then cupid disappears and one night Lara goes in search of him... she puts Theo on the ground with her martial arts moves to prevent him from mugging her but it is infact his cat too but both of them want the cat solely.
Lara opens up her new business as a wedding coordinator and has a young apprentice with her,Betsy. Everytime lara is working so comes across Theo in the capacity of work and its driving her insane because theres an attraction but they hate each other...
Lara's ex Lucien is a pig who had an affair with her best friend and is usually at these weddings too so shes completely overwhelmed by these men who just irritate her and all she wants is to go home and curl up with fluffy or cupid. One fateful night cupid is hit by a car and end up in surgery.. she throws in her work and goes to him, theo joins her but can they fix what theyve done to each other.
This is a mixture of love and hate, recovering from an ex and the pure love you have for the pets we have. It is set in the beautiful city of Chester, many sequences are serene by the river and I loved the character.
A cat playing matchmaker is a new one for me! But, honestly, the cat who has multiple names visits several people in the community and provides friendship. There's quite a bit of angst and sadness in this book but there's also romance and hope. I enjoyed this book and the characters a lot.
I really liked the chemistry between Lara and Theo. I would have liked to see more interaction between them and maybe a little less of the day to day with Lara and Betsy. I disliked Siobhan from the beginning. I felt like she took her friendship with Lara for granted and Just her flippant attitude "I know," Siobhan said. "I'm sorry, Lara. I do hope it doesn't come between us--' I was flabbergasted by this. She cheated with her best friends boyfriend and then told her the reason she hadn't said anything was because she just knew Lara was going to take it badly. How is it meant to be taken? I mean I feel personally I would take something like this much better if my friend came to me and said she has fallen for the person I am seeing. Then i could evaluate the relationship and not have the devastation of being dumped and then finding out my best friend was going behind my back. I felt that Lara took quite a few hits in this book. Siobhan was not at all nice to her, Theo couldn't figure out what he had said and why asking if the baby is his was the wrong thing to say. There was no trust. I felt like if we had had a little more time to get to know these characters and they had had more time to do the same then things would have gone just a little differently, but in the end you still need that big falling out in order to express true love. I enjoyed the book it was just a frustrating read and I found it difficult to really like or relate to any of the characters.
This sounded like an absolutely brilliant premise for a book (and no cat lover would ever be able to resist); however, for me, it fell short of the mark.
Lara came across as a pathetic little girl - despite trying to get her life back on track, everything seemed to revolve around how other people perceived her, or her relationship status. As a result, I just couldn't warm to her.
Not enough was made of the relationship between her and the cat - it therefore felt more like a hook to get people to read, but in the end was just a standard RomCom that featured the occasional mention of a cat.
Equally, the relationship between Lara and Theo was so over the top. One minute they hated each other (why?), the next they were madly in love (why? and more importantly how?) after spending one night together, then they argue over nothing and … yeah, it just didn't make any sense at all.
I can see how this would appeal to a certain audience, and it definitely has a place, but I'm sorry to say it just didn't do anything for me.
Very cute romance novel! It felt very different from some of the others I have read. The characters are cute together, and the progression of their relationship was believable. I would recommend!
After the worst night of her life, getting dumped by her boyfriend, and finding out he is dating her best friend, Lara heads home crushed. Hearing a noise she opens the door and finds a cat, who she takes in and gets comfort from. While looking for the cat later, she meets a man on the street who is looking for his cat too. Needless to say it is the same cat. Fun story, and hard to put down. Enjoyed this one a lot. Highly recommend this book and author.
It was a super cute read and the premise of them sharing a cat was hilarious! It was super enjoyable and quick and I definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a cute romance!
