A different kind of read for me as I'm not the biggest fan of cats but this was a really fun and lighthearted novel that I couldn't resist reading! The characters were enjoyable and relatable and I liked the storyline.
This book is a very meet cute fluff type of romance. It really is a romance book for cat lovers. It is the typical romance book that is fluffy, a bit unrealistic but it makes you feel warm inside.
Imagine finding love thanks to a cat? If you love cats, cute fluffy romance and a short book, i think you will enjoy this book.
Fluffy the cat walks into Lara’s life on the night her boyfriend dumps her for her best friend. As Lara is recovering from the break up, she meets Theo who she accuses of trying to steal Fluffy, but Theo thinks that the cat belongs to him. As they battle one another for the cat’s affections they realise they have a mutual attraction to each other. Can the cat bring them closer together?
A good, lighthearted book which was an easy and enjoyable read.
so this was super hard for me to finish... this isn't a bad book per se, it just wasn't for me. i'm so in the mood for romance that its just a shame that the last ones i've read aren't hitting the mark.
this novel is supposed to be about a girl and a boy who get together in a sort of enemies to lovers because they own the same cat, which i thought it was amazing at first but the execution isn't quite well. most of the plot of the book has little to do with the cat and their relationship and more about her ex boyfriend and ex bestfriend, her bussiness and her life in general, which isn't that bad but not really what i signed for.
honestly i was so tempted on dnfing this book but i didn't. the narration style was quite good, not gonna lie, but besides that i found it meh. the plot moved way too slow yet the realtionship of the two main characters moved way too fast and there wasn't much development, it was a slow burn withouth the burn.
i didn't believe the romance nor did i care for it, the conflict was super innecesary too. i felt like it had so much potencial, i don't know. i just didn't connect with it. betsy (lara's assistant) was my favorite character and even her didn't got much development.
i think this book would be good for people who like weddings (because there are a lot of them).its similar in that sense to 27 dresses (which is my favorite romance movie of all times) and maybe on the part that the love interest is also on the wedding industry, sort of. this just wasn't for me although i can see why some other readers might enjoy it.
Loved it. I must say it took me a little longer to get into it but once I got to 20% it flowed very easily I dont know if that's just me but I loved it. We have a very loved cat called cupid and two ownsers who hate each other, lara who is a wedding coordinator and theo a musician but they have an attraction yet cant stand each other.
Lara is busy every single day but shes recovering from the ex and her best friend... whilst recovering meets theo, their attraction is noticeable but not to each other so they keep bumping into each other. One day they are both upset when cupid is hit by a car.. poor kitty but does he bring the two together, can they workout their differences and be friends?
I loved lara and theo and their chemistry. I hated lucien but who would like a pig like that. The setting in Chester was pleasant and sounded like bliss by the river. Fay, her mother is a bit problematic but a helpful mother.
I loved it. Really enjoyable read.
The premise behind "A Cat Called Cupid" is that two singles meet when both claiming that a "stray" cat belongs to them. I thought there were many cute (mainly cat-focused) moments in this book, but the characters and romance were not as enjoyable as I had hoped. Overall, it is a very cute idea for a romance novel.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
I’m a fan of Tilly Tennant so I was delighted to be approved for this book. It’s a really fun read and I think any cat lover will adore this book. It’s a great little escapist read.
Such a sweet and comforting read, perfect for curling up with on a cold, wet day. I’m not a cat lover but this cat called Cupid (Flufffy to begin) won me over. He plays a key role in events and is definitely a key character!
Lara is a very relatable character who reacts in a realistic way to the ups and downs and misunderstandings she faces in life and relationships.
I really enjoyed this book and I’ll be buying as a gift for a cat lover friend!
"A Cat Called Cupid" could be described as a cozy romance. Is that a genre? It is now! We are immediately introduced to Lara who gets dumped by her boyfriend of whom she saw a future with and then gets a double slap in the face when she finds out he's been going behind her back with her best friend. Poor Lara! Lara decided to start a new life for herself and opens up a wedding planning business and finds herself a stray cat. Only this cat likes to wander the neighborhood, leaving a fellow handsome neighbor to believe he is also the cat's owner. Lara and Theo start off as enemies, but follow the romance trope of enemies to lovers.
The book was cute and overall moved along nicely. I felt the characters themselves weren't too deep and I felt some sections of the book (especially with the secondary characters) really were a bit pointless and bit of "filler". Did I need half a chapter of Lara talking about her sweaty feet in sandals? Probably not. Lara's mother Fay kept bringing up her past relationship to the point of exhaustion. Her business assistant Betsy was a perky, fun girl who stumbles into her own "problem" of which I thought Fay's reaction to was a bit old fashioned.
This would be a good book to read as a palate cleanser between books with "heavier" subject matter or if you are just a fan of light romance in general. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this review in exchange for an honest opinion.
I absolutely loved this book and couldn't put it down. Tilly Tennant books always warm my heart and always give me a giggle too.
With the wedding planning topic I think it would make a great movie. I loved the relationships and friendships and also the disagreements. It made me happy, sad and annoyed at times too.
The main characters are Lara and Theo, and a great supporting cast of characters in this story, some likeable, some not so much.
Siobhan, Lara’s best friend since schooldays, has let her down in the worst possible way. It’s actually a blessing in disguise but Lara just doesn’t realise it yet.
Lucien is Lara’s ex, a self-centred label-loving posh boy who loved himself. Not a nice person and his snooty parents looked down on everyone. Lara is certainly well rid of him.
Fay, Lara’s mum. Totally tactless, clumsy and a bit of a hoarder. She made me laugh though.
After her break up with Lucien, Lara escapes her mundane job and sets up an office in a summer house in her garden doing her dream job as a wedding planner. She takes on Betsy, a keen 18 year old apprentice. I liked their relationship, built on coffee, muffins and a love of all things wedding-related. Just reading about the garden, watching the cat sunning himself on the patio, watching the bees buzz around their nest took me right there in the lovely summer sunshine.
The cat was the centre of the story. He brought it all together. He was why Lara and Theo had a chance meeting whilst they were both out searching for him.
The different weddings Lara worked on threw up some comical scenes, and Theo was a member of the live band that performed at some of the venues. Some awkward moments between the two of them, and getting the wrong end of the stick, causing Lara to unleash her quick temper.
Another lovely, heart-warming story by Tilly Tennant. A pleasure to read.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the review copy in which I give my honest opinion.
Funny, sad and happiness is how I would describe this book. About Lara, having been dumped by her boyfriend, and finding out her best friend is also his girlfriend who he’s dumped her for, one night let’s in a cat, who after a while goes wandering at night and she goes out at night to find him. She bumps into a stranger who says the cat is his, unfortunately she doesn’t find her cat. She’s set up her own wedding business. Where on one booking, she bumps into this stranger again.
As time goes on, they meet again, but with misunderstandings things don’t go to plan. With her past relationship still causing these and other matters they don’t meet up until something happens to the cat, and then alls good. They decide to call the cat Cupid instead of their individual names.
Lara is devastated that her boyfriend is leaving her for her best friend and when she gets home tearful and upset who should walk into, her life but a wet, hungry cat that she names Fluffy. Lara falls hopelessly in love with Fluffy but the cat is also getting food and comfort at Theo's house. Lara walks the streets on a night worrying when the cat is missing and Theo is doing the same - neither realising initially that they are looking after the same cat.
Lara starts her own wedding planning business In a summer house in her garden and I loved reading about the weddings she attended. She is a likeable character whose mouth often goes before her brain getting her into all kinds of trouble especially with Theo. Beth is her eighteen year old assistant keen to learn the business.. Theo, her neighbour, is also part of a band who plays at one of the wedding.s she is organising.
This is a lovely easy read romantic story with lots of laughs. The only part I found frustrating was when the story suddenly jumped a year but although the ending was very predictable I found I just couldn't stop reading.
I can't pass a book by that is either about a cat or has a cat on the cover. I'm a sucker every time. Plus I happen to have a long haired gray and white kitty named Fluffy ( I know we were very creative when naming him.) So how could I pass up a book where the main kitty was also named Fluffy, plus a lot of other names which were ridiculous. Fluffy was a perfect name, Cupid not so much.
I definitely enjoyed the book. It was a cute story. If Lara didn't want her cat running around at night, why didn't she make him a house cat? Siobhan and Lucien deserve each other. He was a horrible person and his parents would most likely be the worst people to have as in-laws. I would have loved to know how everything turned out for him. A year after their break-up, I wasn't sure why Lara allowed Lucien to get under her skin. She knew what type of man he was, so why bother getting upset. The last chapter of the book confused me at first, because I didn't realized it fast-forwarded a year.
Definitely recommend the book, especially if you enjoyed the author's previous books or if you love cats. I LOVED the cover. Look forward to reading more books by the author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bookouture through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I chose this book because I have enjoyed others by the author, but mostly because of the cat (obviously). The idea of a cat bringing two people together is an excellent one. The story is entertaining and enjoyable, though it contains a little more drama than I prefer. I was disappointed that Lara responded to Lucien’s trouble-making by jumping right back into the drama, after having avoided it for a year. However, it worked out well in the end, and is, I suspect, realistic to the way most of us would react!
The last chapter should really be called an epilogue as it takes place a year after the previous chapter. I found the jump in time very confusing, as there was no indication that a whole year had passed for quite some time.
A fun concept, amusingly carried out, just a little too much drama for my taste. I’d recommend it to anyone who likes cats and reading romances.
I was given a free copy of this book. My opinions are my own.
A great read, the story of Lara and Theo, who are bought together by a cat. Both of them think they own the cat, and often spend their evenings trying to find out where the cat has got to. Their first few meetings don't go so well, but soon they are spending more time together.
I would have liked there to be more from Theo's point of view, but enjoyed the book overall.
Following a disastrous relationship with her ex Lucien, who left her for someone she cared about, Lara Nightingale decides to turn a new page in her life and opens a wedding planning business. With the help of her assistant Betsy all is going well. However, Fluffy, Lara's cat keeps going on nocturnal journeys making Lara worry. One night when she is once again looking for her cat she meets Theo, who is also looking for his cat! When it turns out both are looking for the same animal, hilarious events follow.
I loved Fluffy and all the shenanigans he found himself in! It was great to see how a small cat brought so many people together, I always enjoy reading about animals. The people were less easy to like, I definitely enjoyed reading about Lara but her relationship with Theo was a little weirdly paced. The transitions were not really smooth between hate and love, so it was hard to believe that they had developed such strong feelings for each other during the short time they knew each other. I feel like there was so much focus on other issues in this story that the romance felt like an afterthought.
