I love a good friends to lovers romance, but this book felt very light on the "friends" portion. We never hear how these two met and became friends and we also don't get to read very much friend-zone banter. At most, these leads seem like they are friendly coworkers.
When they go undercover, Isabelle is determined to prove herself as an Agent who can kick a** next to the boys at the security company. I was so disappointed that we never truly got to see her kick a**. We hear a lot about her gun skills and her karate prowess and the most we get is a knee in the crotch and later a "hold" on a bad guy. I wanted her to really rise to the challenge and show her stuff, but we never got to see it.
This is a sweet and steamy (and predictable) romance, but I wish the author really would have really let the heroine shine.
Isabelle works for as an office manager for Quade Security and Investigations, but what she wants to do is be an operative with the firm.and she will be as soon as she manages to convince her boss. The perfect opportunity presents itself when her grandmothers ex boyfriend asks for help to investigate some suspicious thefts at his resort.
It seems like a simple mission that requires Isabelle and her best friend and colleague, Jayden to go undercover as a married couple. What more could she want ?
Jayden is not happy with Isabelle being an operative, but what can he do when the boss agrees. Now he is undercover at a resort for married couples with Isabelle and participating in activities that makes it impossible to hide the attraction he feels towards her.
While you were spying in my first book by the author Stina Lindenblatt, and I am hooked. This book had me addicted right from the start and i enjoyed it immensely till the end. It is a romantic comedy that has suspense, intrigue, hot moments and some intense chemistry. I loved reading it and look forward to more in the series.
A fun and entertaining read!

She finally gets her chnce, but it means having to pretend to be married to her colleague Jayden. Soon what starts as a fake relationshop turns real, but do they have a chance when he is against her dream job?

Jayden and Isabelle are best friends who work together for a private security firm. Jayden is an agent, but Isabelle is an office manager. However, Isabelle feels like she has a lot more to offer and wishes to become and agent aswell. When she is presented with an opportunity for a trial case, she and Jayden pose as a married couple in a resort to get to the bottom of the case. There, they are abl to explore their feelings for each other. But is it possible for them to be together if Jayden is against Isabelle having a dangerous job? Because Isabelle is not willing to compromise her passions for a man.
I did like this story, albeit it was predictable. The mystery part of the story definitely did not interrupt the romance, so if you are more interested in a thrilling storyline, this is maybe not for you. It is definitely more romance heavy and lighter on the mystery. However, I liked the conflict between the two main characters and how it was resolved. Ultimately, I am interested in reading more from this author.
I recieved a free ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
This was a fun, albeit predictable, story. I really liked that the heroine refused to compromise her professional goals because of her over protective lover. The author's note at the end was really interesting post RWA implosion. Was that CIA class given by Damon Suede's husband? I've noticed he gave quite a few to various RWA chapters.
This was an enjoyable enough read, but it was a tad predictable. Jayden and Isabelle are best friends and the attraction they’ve both studiously ignored is about to be front and center when they take on a case as a bit of a favor to an old family friend. It’s just too bad that said family friend has a plethora of issues going on at his couples’ resort...in Huntington Beach. As someone familiar with the SoCal area, I would’ve found a resort like this to be more believable further south, like closer to the OC or San Diego. But I digress. So Jayden and Isabelle check into said resort, they find that they’re enrolled in some spicy marriage classes, and the predictability begins. There were a few twists that were at least somewhat interesting, but on the whole, this was an average read with some entertaining moments to break it up a tad.
Great book!I definitely enjoyed reading this book! I'm pretty sure it's a spin-off so I'm going to investigate more on that because i really liked all the characters! This book had a little bit of everything! It had action, danger, drama, and it was hot 🔥🔥! I can't wait for the next book in this series! I highly recommend reading this one! Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!
