Three Perfect Liars was one of my most anticipated reads of 2020. I loved Heidi Perk’s Her One Mistake, and loved the idea behind this one. I was so excited when I got my hands on this one.

This story is told through our 3 main character view points. I liked how the story unfolded revealing a little more through out. And I enjoyed the various twists as well. One of the characters was a little repetitive with her worries. Other then that I really enjoyed this quick read. I also liked how everything tied together at the end. Check this one out if you are a fan of Heidi Perks or domestic thrillers.

Decent psychological suspense novel. Kept me interested to see what exactly was going on, the secrets the characters were keeping, and the identity of the culprit. When all was said and done, it wasn't as surprising as I wanted it to be, but it was definitely worth reading.
My main problem was that I didn't really connect with any of the characters. I didn't like that Laura was so devoted to her job and so whiny about things when she returned from her maternity leave. Bless her husband for putting up with her because I certainly wouldn't have if it were me. Mia was too shady for me, I think if she would have tried to get some of the others on board with what was going on things would have been a lot more straightforward, yet it wouldn't have been as much of a story. And don't get me started on Harry. I know he was their boss/husband but ew, why do men like him get away with bad behavior? Even though he wasn't overtly slimy, his overall demeanor was just sketchy. However I can't give any of the women a pass because not one single one of them ever called him on his BS.
That said, this novel sure brings out the emotions so it is a good read in that respect. This would make an excellent book club choice.

The fire engines stop outside the offices of Morris and Wood. The beginning with the fire had me hooked. Then I got bored with the details and couldn't connect with the characters

What an interesting thriller this turned out to be. I wasn’t sure at first I was going to like it but the more I read the more intriguing the story became. The main characters are all extremely flawed but very relatable. This is really a story on how women treat each other in and outside the workplace. It’s a story about our choices and who we hold accountable when bad things happen. I was a little disappointed in the abrupt ending but other than that, I really enjoyed this novel.

Heidi Perks taps into water cooler drama on steroids at an advertising firm in a town south of London, its building standing like a giant glass beacon and blocking the view of the quay. Laura was a rising star at the firm, and is ready to get back in the saddle when she returns from her six month maternity leave.

To Laura’s dismay, the temp she hired before she left is still sitting in her seat. Mia has been offered a permanent position, and to rub more salt into the wound, the officemates seems to love her. Laura is the exact prim and proper opposite of bubbly and sweet Mia. Laura can tell that Mia is trying to edge Laura out by taking her most prized account. The story continues to show Laura’s rising stress and struggle with balancing life as a new mother and the pressure of keeping up at the office.

However, it is not all sunshine and roses with Mia, and she seems to be having problems at home. To top off the tension, the office building is burned down. Who is the arson? Laced through this look back at the recent history of Laura returning and Mia finding her place on the team, inspectors investigate and interview the employees. It seems like one of these competing women may be the culprit.

While this story was filled with juicy gossip, competition, the realities of being a working mother, and women pushing against toxic masculinity, it was not the most enthralling story. Even though I’m sitting at home while I work, I don’t have a huge desire to spend my off hours being reminded of more work. I couldn’t see much proof that Mia was taking Laura’s job other than taking one of her accounts, and I was confused that Laura could be so busy with work when the rest of her workload seemed like scraps in comparison to the account she had lost. And then, to know she wasted a solid hour and half cyber stalking Mia for dirt made me wonder if she really was working. Go home, Laura, you can dig up dirt from your couch!

All in all, not a bad a read, but not the most suspenseful thriller.

In this taut, well written whodonit thriller we have three driven women, each with their own tale to tell but their stories come together in the end for a surprising ending I didn't see coming.
Laura comes back to her job at a successful advertising firm after a six month maternity leave to find Mia, the woman she hired as a temp to cover for her, has taken over Laura's top client with no intentions of leaving the company. Laura's furious with this development and intent on getting Mia out. Mia has ulterior motives for worming her way into the company. The third woman in this story is Janie, the wife of the CEO of the company who feels trapped in her marriage trying to do what's right for their two daughters but struggling.
When a fire destroys the building that was built after the locals protested it's being built in the first place, there seems to be plenty of suspects for the investigators to interview about what happened and who might have set fire to the building and who might have been in the body bag that was removed from the building.
Written from the three women's POV's from both weeks before the fire to days after and also transcripts of the police interviews with the employees of the company, the story weaves a compelling tale filled with lies, deception and determination. I love a character driven novel and this one doesn't disappoint. If you're looking for a suspensefull story with a fairly quick pace I recommend giving this one a go.

Thank you Heidi Perks, Simon & Schuster and Netgalley for the arc to read, review and enjoy.

Ambitious and talented Laura Demming took six months maternity leave when her son, Bobby, was born. Preparing for her first day back at Morris and Wood, she’s both excited and nervous, though she’s spent the past two weeks reviewing her accounts. When she arrives and sees her desk occupied by Mia Anderson, the temp she hired to cover for her, she realized her anxiety was misplaced: she should have been worrying about Mia.

Though Mia had professed to wanting only a temporary position, she was made a permanent employee and given a directorship, putting her on par with Laura. Laura is certain that Mia is harboring secrets and that if she doesn’t defend her position, she’ll be squeezed out. But at the same time, she must balance responsibilities to her husband and son.

Watching the events at her husband’s agency, Janie Wood knows Harry has made mistakes, but she’ll do anything to protect him and his company—as long as it means her daughters are provided for and the true reason she agreed to step back from her law career and leave London remains hidden.

The arrival of Miles Morgan, a potential new client, exacerbates the tension among the three women and leads to a fiery confrontation.

WHAT I LIKED
I liked that three ambitious, successful women were the focus of the book, but that they were complicated and struggled with balancing career and family responsibilities. The narrative was interspersed with transcripts from police interviews that ended on mini-cliffhangers, and I liked those because I am a fan of mixed media and also because they helped push the story forward.

WHAT DIDN’T WORK AS WELL FOR ME
The pacing of the book was a little slow for me, and it seemed though critical information about the characters’ pasts, instead of being presented organically, was instead offered in a more manipulative way, to obscure the reader. And while I generally like a character descending into paranoia, I felt like I need more context as to why Laura might be susceptible to this tendency which was a bit contradictory to her success. Finally, I wish that there had been more characterization of figures like Nate, Laura’s husband.

Readers looking for an entertaining, quick-read focused on office drama and relationships among women should look for this at their favorite bookstore.

Three Perfect Liars was a perfect weekend read. It was a fun and complex thriller that left you guessing until the very end. I loved it. Told from every perspective it gives the reader small clues along the way but you are left turning the pages as fast as you can read to figure out what will happen net. I loved this one and would recommend to anyone that enjoyed little fires everywhere or Miracle Creek you’ll love this one. Thank you to @gallerybooks and @netgalley. All opinions are my own.

My Review:⭐️⭐⭐️/ 5 stars

Thank you to Gallery Books and @netgalley for my advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

This a mystery/thriller I could not wait to read - the cover is so eye-catching. It revolves around the devastating fire and destruction of advertising firm, Morris & Wood. Three women (Laura, Janie, and Mia) were at the scene after the fire and all considered possibly a suspect that left someone dead. Laura had just returned to work after a 6 month maternity leave to find Mia (her temporary fill in) trying to sabotage her and steal her job. Janie is the wife of Harry Wood (owner/head of Morris & Wood) who also had her own reasons. I really enjoyed the police interviews of the 3 characters and the co-workers, building up the mystery of how it all led up to the fateful night. It was killing me to find out who Mia was and what her true motives were after going after Laura’s job. However, I was not crazy about the ending, a bit lackluster for me...The grand reveal was what I already figured out early on. I almost felt that Janie’s character was not interesting, and I did not care about her one bit. I wanted to like this more, but found myself thinking it was so/so.

3.5! This was a good beach read. Told by alternating perspectives, it keeps you guessing. I enjoyed this one although not as much as Heidi’s previous book! Thank you!!

An office building on fire, 2 bodies removed, 3 women under suspicion. This is an enjoyable page turner that unfortunately becomes a little too long, however it’s a must finish to see how it all ends.

We think we know our co-workers, but how well do we know them really? Three Perfect Liars begins with a body being pulled from a burning office building. Who is it? Who set the fire? Throughout the book we meet the main suspects: Laura, Mia, & Janie. Laura has just returned to the office after maternity leave to find, Mia who covered for her while she was out, still making herself at home at Laura's desk. Laura soon learns, Mia is staying on at the company & has also been given Laura's biggest account. When Laura starts digging into Mia's past and her resume, things aren't adding up. What's Mia hiding? Then there's Janie, the wife of Laura's boss who's basically been forced to move away from the city & leave her job to be a stay at home mom. Did I mention she's heard the office rumors about her husband having an affair with Laura? Needless to say Three Perfect Liars has so much drama, mystery, & suspense! I had trouble putting this one down and definitely did not expect the outcome! I really enjoyed the characters & how they all had qualities that made them like-able & hate-able at the same time! Definitely recommend this one and it gets a solid 4.5 stars!

This book was fun to read, but I felt the plot was a little unoriginal. Also could use some editing - saw a good amount of typos. I was a little disappointed with the resolution, I felt like none of the characters learned a lesson or grew at all.

When a body is pulled out of an office fire, three women are first in line for questioning. All of them have reasons for wanting revenge against the company’s CEO.
Laura returned to work after her maternity leave and found that her maternity cover took her place. The CEO insists he’s doing what’s best for the company, but is he telling the truth?
Mia, brought in as temporary cover for Laura, quickly made herself indispensable – and popular with her colleagues. But if people knew why she was so desperate to keep her job, they might not welcome her so freely.
Janie, wife to the CEO, gave up her courtroom career to support her husband and his business. She has her own secret to protect – and will go to any length to keep it safe.
None of these three perfect liars are safe, and the book unfolds their stories one piece at a time. I couldn't wait to start the next chapter in order to find out what was going to happen next. The plot kept me guessing until the end, and numerous plot twists and the thrilling end totally made the book worth reading!
I appreciated the author's take on maternity leave and working mothers. It's a tough decision for women, and Heidi Perks featured the angst women feel as they decide whether or not to return to work and how they handle their emotions, work-life balance and obligations as they live with their choice.
I would have preferred bigger font for the police notes. Also, there is some profanity, sexual content, and alcohol abuse in the book.

It's been a couple years since I've read a Heidi Perks book . This one is a psychological tale about motherhood, ambition and female rivalry. This book was an nice surprise and I inhaled it in one sitting. The book is broken down into a countdown to the fire with police interviews after each section. I know this may seem complicated but Heidi Perks manages to do it coherently. It was quite expertly rendered, as I was never confused about the characters or timeline. In fact, the characters were beautifully fleshed out, their actions and desires ultimately making all three quite sympathetic.

What really made me love this book are the questions that this story asks, especially about secrets, lies and motivations. It's the type of book you want to read with someone else and then discuss and I really enjoyed that about Three Perfect Liars. I wasn't expecting that sort of book and it was a pleasant surprise. I'm still thinking about Laura, Mia and Janie's actions. To me, that's the sign of a good book.

The Morris & Wood Advertising Agency is a towering inferno. On the opposite quay a woman watches and watches as a body is carried out. Who is the woman? Who died? The author takes us back in time to eight weeks before the fire when Laura Denney returns from her maternity leave to discover that her temporary replacement, Mia Anderson, has been given a permanent position. Awkward! Harry Wood, charismatic head of the agency, was once Laura's biggest fan. Now he seems to be on Team Mia. Laura also struggles to balance work and home while her husband stays home with baby Bobby. Harry's wife Janie chose to leave her job as a high profile defense attorney when they built the new agency away from London five years ago. She also struggles with the mommy life. All three women give their perspectives in alternating POVs. When they cross paths at a company party three days before the fire, a confrontation erupts affecting all three families. Interspersed between chapters are transcripts of interviews that the detectives are conducting regarding the arson investigation giving us additional insights into the Morris & Wood office politics and motives of our three main characters. I found this to be a compelling read with a satisfying finish. If you like this one, you should also try "The New Girl" by Harriet Walker.

Heidi Perks puts an interesting question out there with "Three Perfect Liars." How far would you go for your loved ones? It's framed in the story of several women trying to find their way in the work place - one is returning to work after giving birth, one has an ulterior motive for working, and one is overshadowed by her working husband. When the company's new building burns, fingers are quickly pointed, but who is to blame?

Each woman's dilemma is fleshed out nicely, so it's easy to identify with the struggles each has. Pay attention, though, to those in the background. No one exists in a vacuum, and how they react to others is fascinating to watch unfold.

A fire has burnt down an office building and the police are looking at three different suspects.
Laura who has just came back to work after maternity leave and is extremely unhappy that her temporary replacement is still working there.
Mia who is happy to take over Laura’s job and obviously has an ulterior motive.
Jamie the wife of the company’s director who is unhappy about the time her husband spends at the office.
A slow moving story told by numerous narrators and in different timescales.

I found this story to be a bit too much of a slow burn for my taste - the last 25% or so flew by, but the first 75% was slow enough that I had a hard time getting into it initially. I appreciated the character development of the three women, although I wish we had gotten to know more about Mia's background earlier in the book as it made her a difficult character to understand. I enjoyed the story as a whole and the multiple POV set-up, but overall this was a like not love book for me.

Who set fire to the building housing the Morris and Woods advertising agency? Well, three different women all have something they are angry about and all three tell their stories in this twisty tale with, of course, lots of lies. Although it starts with the fire, the novel then circles back eight weeks (and sometimes moves further back in time) to lead you to the crisis. Janie is the wife of Harry Wood and she's filled with resentment over giving up her own career in order to help him. Laura was out on maternity leave and while she's conflicted about coming back, she's also not happy that Mia, who was hired as a temp, hasn't left. Mia, well, Mia's a challenge. You might like one of these women more than the other- and then change your mind. You might guess early on who did it but don't be so sure. No spoilers from me! Perks has a good storytelling style and a sense of pacing. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A page turner than kept me guessing.
