Fabulous thriller that kept me eagerly turning the pages!! Fantastic characters and plot, could not put it down.
OOh that was good.
A good storyline, with good characters and an interesting read.
Nothing is as it seems and I liked that.
If you think you know you don't - thats my only spoiler!
Highly recommended.
I love the cover of this novel and the inside. "Some Days Are Dark" is an exciting novel by Miranda Smith. A page turner for sure.
Nothing is as it seems in this thrilling read. Just as you think you know if the wife killed her husband, then it throws you for a loop again. Highly recommended.
A great thriller for those that don't enjoy their thrillers too dark or upsetting. A promising new thriller writer Miranda Smith makes her debut with a thriller that opens with the line 'I'm glad my husband is dead. But I can't admit it.' The novel continues with enough pace and intrigue to excite and engage.
Really liked this one, loved the plot and kept me guessing as to did Olivia do it? Loved the backstory also and the few characters that were in it. I thought it was a quite convincing story and I really enjoyed it, I’m hoping to see more from the author for sure 😊
Olivia Miller didn't kill her second husband Dane, but most other people swear she did. A homeless man was found with his wallet and confessed to killing him, but just before trail the evidence falls apart and the confession is redacted. Suspicion once again falls onto Olivia - who sets out to prove who did kill Dane once and for all.
The novel alternates timelines throughout - before and after the murder. I enjoyed the backstory on Olivia, which provided details on her first marriage to Frank, her son Jake and the ultimate biggest mistake in her life - getting together with Dane Miller. I was rooting for Olivia throughout and felt her frustration. There were a few twists that I didn't see coming!
Thanks to Miranda Smith, Bookouture and NetGallley for the ARC.
I loved this book. At first, I couldn't get into it, I was confused, and I had no idea what the heck was going on. Who is who and what happened. But slowly all the pieces started fitting into place and I ended up LOVING it. I couldn't read fast enough at the end there. It really was a great book. And the twist at the end, awesome! I'm sure I could have guessed it, but I tried not to read too much into all the little things so that I'd be surprised. I already picked up another book by the author and can't wait to read it too. I will definitely keep my eye out for Miranda from now on.
I wasn't expecting some of the twists and turns and the ending did end up surprising me. I really enjoyed the writing, and will be looking out for other books by this author.
This book hooks at the very beginning with the opening line. Unfortunately, it does not keep the same pace throughout. It does have a dual timeline and I am unsure if it was that fact that threw it off or if it was just the plot in general. The idea was there, but I feel like it could have been a lot better. The story line is one that is recurring in domestic thrillers and it was not as strong of a plot as I would have expected after such an explosive beginning.
I've enjoyed other books by this author and this one did not disappoint. It has some unexpected twists and turns, the ending really surprised me, and overall the writing is fantastic! Looking forward to reading more from this author.
Olivia arrives home to find her husband on the sofa .. dead of a gunshot. They had argued violently the night before ... and the police look as her as a prime suspect.
But someone confesses to the crime .. a low level criminal. Olivia can now relax and admit to herself that she's actually glad her husband is dead. That solves so many problems in her life.
But then the man recants his confession and proof is found that he was nowhere the residence of Olivia. She's back on the post again.
No one really seems to believe that she had nothing to do with his death .. .not her first husband, his fiancee, friends and associates, the police, especially one very determined detective who literally stalks her every move.
So if she didn't kill him ...who did? and why?
The story bounces from Olivia's life before her husband was killed and then afterwards. Olivia becomes known as the woman who left her family, husband and son, to be with another man.
But if the police and the world think she’s guilty, there’s only one thing she can do—prove her innocence herself. Even if that means putting her own life in danger… And her own investigation comes across a lot of information about her husband ... secrets he never shared with her ... another life that he kept hidden.
This is a riveting thriller ... full of surprises with stand-out characters. Highly suspenseful, especially when a true crime blogger becomes involved. Olivia would do well to remember keep your friends close, your enemies closer. The double-whammy unexpected ending is like icing on the cake. Highly recommend this one!
Many thanks to the author / Bookouture / Netgalley for the digital copy of this Psychological Thriller. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
I requested an advanced copy of this book because it's published by Bookouture, and the premise looks engaging. It did not disappoint.
Miranda Smith does an exquisite job of taking on on a very an adventure. Olivia is a secretly happy widow, but she also has a cloud of suspension hanging over her once the confessed killer is released. She's a flawed person, but did she kill her husband, or is she just relieved that someone else took care of the job. The ending is perfectly twisty!
Many thanks to Bookoutoure and NetGalley for another wonderful read.
