I just absolutely loved this book. It kept me guessing right till the end. I highly recommend reading this book. I could not put this down.

I really enjoyed the set up of the book which includes chapters interviewing the characters after the fire destroys the business. The remaining chapters include the lives of the main characters 8 weeks prior to the fire, to present. The interview portions made it interesting and feel more intense investigation wise, without being overly technical procedural wise. While three main characters all have reason to be upset with the owner Harry, and his company that is destroyed, this novel keeps you interested and guessing until the end. I enjoyed that it was not predictable. It held my interest the entire time and was a quick easy read and I wanted to know what was going to happen. The characters were multi-dimensional with adequate backstory on each of them so you knew personalities and emotions and motives for any actions for the most part.

I was hooked right from the start. Join Laura as she searches for the reason that Mia has stolen her job, and as she battles between her home and work life. Just back from maternity leave, Laura finds that her job has changed and Mia has taken away her main client. She is desperately trying to find out what's going on. Then tragedy strikes. Read on to find out what's next.

Heidi has done it again in her new thriller. She keeps you guessing from page one and doesn’t let up until the very end.
The story is told from the night of the fire back to weeks before it happened. In between chapters, detective Marlow is interviewing people from the office and trying to learn what really happened that fateful night.
Brilliantly written, with lots of twists that keep you wanting to turn the page.

A novel that begins with an advertising firm burning to the ground soon introduces the reader to three women who are directly associated with the inferno. Three Perfect Liars by Heidi Perks is a whodunit that aptly satisfies thriller-lovers’ need for surprises and unrelenting suspense. Laura, a wife and mother, returns to the world of advertising after being on maternity leave. Mia, the woman who temporarily filled her position, has taken over her accounts and her office and will not be surrendering them. It seems that she has an ulterior motive in staying with the company and Laura is secretely investigating her past. Janie, the wife of the CEO of the firm, suspects that either woman may be involved with her husband. And this sets the scene for lies and more lies. Each woman has her reasons for lying and the lies will lead to a deadly fire. The author alternates the narrative between the three women and a police detective who is investigating the crimes. All roads will lead to a shocking ending. I thorouhly enjoyed this original mystery. Highly recommended. Thank you to Simon & Schuster Canada and NetGalley for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Laura is returning to work after maternity leave and is furious to find that Mia, who was brought in to cover her post, has now been kept on permanently and given Laura’s biggest client but it seems Mia might have had an ulterior motive for wanting Laura’s job. Janie is the wife of their boss, Harry, and is unhappily married and carrying some baggage from her past.

The book starts with a fire at the advertising agency which connects the three women and the story then jumps back in time to show us (from all three perspectives) the weeks leading up to the fire, leaving us to work out both who started it and who has been killed in it.

I thought the premise of this book was really good but unfortunately it didn’t blow me away as it was just too much of a slow burner. It started well but the middle section felt repetitive with not very much happening, and the ending, which I was hoping would redeem some of the earlier slowness, felt anticlimactic after such a big build up.

This book was marketed as a thriller but to me it was more of an office drama with some suspense. It was missing a lot of the edge of your seat stuff that I expect in a thriller. I was looking forward to this one and while I didn’t dislike it, I didn’t love it either. Suspect this book might be enjoyed more by someone who is just trying out the thriller genre. Ah well can’t win them all! Thanks to Netgalley for the ecopy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I would give this book 3.5, maybe even 4 stars, but had to settle for 3. The story and characters made this one memorable and I would not hesitate to recommend it, but there were parts of it that needed more or could have been revealed earlier and actually added to the story that brought this down to a 3 star.

PROS: I really enjoyed that this was written from 3 different perspectives. I like seeing different sides of a story and hearing different narratives, especially when each of the 3 main characters all had great like and hate factors, meaning you like them in one scene and hate them in the next. There was no favourite. I thought seeing the event through the eyes of three different perspectives was a great touch and made this story memorable.

CONS: I think the mystery/revelation took too long and was unnecessarily dragged out. The first half of the book I couldn't put down, and then the story became a little repetitive and dull without any major reveals and just completely slowed down for me. When the reveals/outcome finally came out, I felt like the wow factor just wasn't there and it all could have been out sooner. The story would have been just as interesting and actually could have included more details about all the circumstances that led to the fatal fire which would have been so much more interesting. I wanted more background as the story behind it all was much more intriguing.

Overall good book, but should have been less mystery/thriller and more drama.

Thank you NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for the eArc.

As thrillers go, this one had lots of twists and turns, but what was more surprising to me was that I was actually less focused on who did the thing, and more interested in the lives of the three women the story followed. So I'd say this is the kind of thriller that works for those looking for that traditional twisty goodness we've come to expect from thrillers but also will speak to those who get caught up in character development such as myself.

Laura is about to return to work after her maternity leave comes to an end.
Mia is the one that was covering Laura's maternity leave but is now staying on at the company permanently.
Janie is the wife of the ad company executive that Laura and Mia work for.
All three women have connections to each other that they don't know about. Their actions and motivations are about to collide in a spectacular downward spiral.

The story will keep you guessing to just what these three woman could possibly have in common.
A fast read that will hold your attention till the very last page.

Three Perfect Liars was a dramatic, domestic thriller that keeps you guessing throughout the entire book! It gave me Pretty Little Liars vibes initially but the ending was something entirely different! This book tells the story of three different women, Laura, Mia and Janie. Three very different women at that. You will become sucked into the office politics and drama between Laura and Mia as well as Janies lifestyle as a rich housewife (but former prominent defence lawyer). You will learn things along the way that you don’t expect as the twists and turns get you! Also, the cliffhanger ending is perfect! I will definitely be reading more of Heidi Perks after this one!

TW: mention of rape, sexual harassment

This novel has a central feminist theme that focuses on discrimination against women in the workplace. Specifically, this novel talks about how women have to work harder than men for the same achievement, and once women start to have children, they are expected to focus more on their family than their career. I’m glad that the author brought these things up because as a society, we need to recognize and correct this disparity and unfair expectation on women. But that’s all I really liked about this book. The sections with police interviews were unrealistic, I didn’t like Laura’s personality, and none of the other characters had much to offer. The plot “twist” came out of nowhere and really didn’t make sense considering the first half of the book had no connection to it. Although the author brings interesting and relevant viewpoints for discussion, the actual story didn’t work for me.

My first Perks novel and definitely not my last ...

First just let me say, her writing is excellent! Love a book that pulls the reader right into the pages. I often felt as though I was right along side the characters. Though I do have to admit, I'm still not sure if I really liked or connected with any of them. Usually unlikeable characters aren't a win for me but they definitely worked here!!

The story is an interesting one that will hold your attention. The three women, Laura, Mia and Janie are all connected through a successful advertising agency. All with their own stories and agendas. A devestating fire sets the tone for the story with alternating chapters between a police investigation and each of the women. The advertising agency has been destroyed and everyone is a suspect.

I really enjoyed this book. It will keep you guessing! Huge thank you to Simon & Schuster Canada - Gallery Books and Netgalley for my review copy.

Secrets, lies revenge and arson make for another compelling read from this talented author. Three very different women but all equally unlikeable to me, someone knows the truth.

The story is told by the three women's POV and police interviews. I liked the interspersing of the police interviews and thought it was quite an inventive way to keep me invested in the three women. The ending was good and the twists believable.

Thank you so much to Simon and Schuster Canada and Netgalley for my copy of this book. This was a fast paced, enjoyable little thriller with a great plot and some twists that got me!

It centers mostly around three women and is told through their different view points, which I enjoyed. Laura is a star at her company and is just coming back from mat leave and is feeling the pressures of work. She also feels as though her temp has replaced her completely and she isn't happy about it. She will go to every length to find out what that woman's problem is. That woman is Mia, the temp who has taken over Laura's job while she had her baby. Mia has some secrets in her personal life and her reasons for wanting this job aren't clear, especially since she appears to have lied on her application. Then you have Janie, the Boss' wife who is jealous of Laura and her close relationship with her husband. All three women have secrets, all three women are hiding things and eventually, all three women are suspects for murder and arson when the office building burns to the ground.

This book had quick chapters, which I'm always a fan of. I liked they way it all came together and the story did manage to keep me guessing. The ending did surprise me. I thought I had it figured out and I was almost correct, but not quite. I love when a thriller can trick me! Overall, this was a great read and fans of secrets, lies and office drama will enjoy this one!

Three women, a fire & office Drama - I'm in!
Laura returning to work after mat leave and struggling with work home balance discovers that the woman she hired to cover for has no plans to leave. She feels blindsided, and untrusting towards her replacements motives to stay. (Her husband is an angel and so forgiving)
Mia, the supposed temp has become the star employee and everyone’s friend except for Laura ...
Enter Janie the wife who gave up everything to support her husband and his successful agency. But it seems she has secrets to protect ...
Three Perfect Liars is a quick office drama suspense read written in POV’s and alternating timeline. I enjoyed the writing style but the police interviews fell short for me. I found “the whodunit” to be predictable but ended up with a bit of a surprise in the end. I really enjoyed the entertaining office drama and how the three women’s stories developed.
This was a first read by the author and I look forward to adding more to my shelves.

Arson ... murder ... a career driven mother back to work from maternity leave ... a young ambitious woman in the office .... the boss’ jealous wife at home ... secrets... and lies.

This book had a few things going for it... and a few things not going for it.
There was way too much mom/career woman dilemma that just didn’t appeal to me ... the two women fighting for the one job in a male dominated world just didn’t really sit well for me either especially at the beginning of the novel

The arson and the way the story unfolds was a bit different than most M/T I’ve read recently and I enjoyed that .

Book rating :3.5 ⭐️

Three Perfect Liars by Heidi Perks is a thriller that will keep you guessing. Told from three different perspectives of the suspected arsonists along with interviews conducted by the detective on the case, this book is a page-turner. It is a novel that not only looks at motive for setting a building on fire, it also digs deep into the roles women play in society.

This book starts off at the scene of the crime and then winds its way back to how it all began. The concept is intriguing and the snippets from the detective’s interviews add an interesting element to the story. At times it seems obvious which woman is responsible for the fire. However, the story yanks you down a new path just as you start to piece things together.

❀ FLAWED MAIN CHARACTERS

Each of the main characters is flawed and very relatable. Not one of them is all that likeable, yet their life choices are defining and it is enjoyable to read each of their perspectives. Laura is a new mom trying to make her way back into her career, while Mia is just starting out. Janie, on the other hand, is a successful attorney taking a step back to be at home with her kids. I really appreciated how the author was able to present these women with different backgrounds and show the importance of supporting women and their life choices.

❀ A TWISTY THRILLER THAT KEEPS YOU HOOKED

If you enjoy a twisty thriller that keeps you hooked, Three Perfect Liars by Heidi Perks is one to try. The concept is exciting and the characters are intriguing. I am looking forward to what this author has in store for us next.

Suspenseful and outside my normal read but was hooked and surprised at how into it I got. Definitely a binge read, which is why I'm so picky about reading this genre. The idea of having to know what happens NOW is a high bar to set and easy to be disappointed. This had enough pull to keep me interested and of course a twist that was surprising.

Well-kept secrets will eventually be exposed. And when you have three women, each holding tight her own set of lies, you know that there is going to be a twist or two that will force the truth to the front.

The controversial advertising agency burns to the ground one night, and our three main characters watch as a body bag is removed from the debris. Who knows what happened? Who died? And what was the motive? Was it Laura, just returned from maternity leave and concerned that her juicy job has been given to the temp? Is it Mia, the young temporary, who is outgoing with her coworkers, but shares nothing about her background and family? Or is it Janie, the owner's wife, who is conflicted about playing second-fiddle to his job?

Told from the perspectives of the three main characters, the story is balanced and intriguing, with twists and turns along the way. And the ending puts the tale to rest in a satisfying and fitting manner. The story dragged a bit in the middle, and was a bit predictable as it progressed. While I am absolutely okay with characters that I don't like, I still need to be invested in them, and I didn't find that I was captivated enough with any of these women to truly root for, or hate, them.

A quick read, with plot twists and deception galore. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced reader copy, in exchange for my honest review.

Laura, Mia and Janie are three perfect liars but the truth will always come out.

Laura has completed her maternity leave and is returning to her job at Morris and Wood, an advertising firm. She’s not impressed to find Mia still sitting at Laura’s desk on her first day back to the office. Laura had hired Mia on a temporary basis to cover her mat leave and she fully expected Mia to be gone on her first day back. Instead Mia is not only still sitting at Laura’s desk but she has finagled a permanent job at the firm and has also poached Laura’s biggest client. Now Laura is determined to uncover what Mia is so desperate to hide.

The other liar in this story is Janie, the wife to Harry Wood who is the owner of the advertising agency. Janie has given up her prestigious, lucrative job as a Barrister to be a full-time stay at home mom to their two children. Things are not always as they seem and Janie is also hiding from the truth.

When an arson fire burns down the advertising agency one evening, fingers are pointed at these three women. Did one of them set the fire, and if so, which one and why?

I enjoyed this story and I felt that the author did a good job of keeping me guessing right to the end. One thing the novel really made me think about was with respect to the storyline of Laura trying desperately to get her biggest client back from Mia. At the end of it all, it made me wonder if sometimes we fight so hard for the win not necessarily because we want it so badly, but because we don’t want the other person to have it.
