Let me start with: i love, love, loved this book. Every once and a while i find a cute love story that i enjoy the whole story from start to finish and this was one of them. It was so realistic or maybe so dreamy that i enjoyed it.
Adin loves Lilly. He has since they were in college and he was just her bestfriend. Finding out she is newly divorced gives him courage to pursue a relationship he never tried before. In every attempt he made i could feel his love, his determination and his fear. For some reason i was always on his side.
The dedication of flying from one state to another to prove yourself. Jumping feet first into the unknown. We have all done something crazy for love and sometimes its not always reciprocated.
I loved the writing style, the plot and the characters in this book. Everything was so simple to relate to. The story didnt always portray happy times and that made it more relatable.
This story follows Lilly and Adin, best friends from college who become something more in adulthood. The story is told in a mixture of first person, emails, and text conversations. It starts slowly and I struggled a bit to get into the story. I think my biggest concern about this book was the frustration I felt from each character's perspective. So many things would have gone better if they just would have had more conversations!! Both of them just retreated at times that they should have used challenges to pull together. I also felt that some better background on how Lilly and Adin met and the development of their college friendship would have been very helpful to my investment in their adult relationship. I was satisfied with the ending but just felt the little struggles were so excessive to get there. I would definitely recommend reading this one as opposed to listening to it in audiobook - I think it would have been very hard to follow without being able to flip back and forth.
I will admit that everytime I read the the title us, in pieces I burst into a rendition of Snow Patrols You're all I have! Sorry if you are now singing it too!
I really enjoyed this story and both the characters. I liked that we got the story from both points of view both of which is wonderfully written.
Would love to read more from these authors.
I really wanted to like this book. I love the Title and the blurb. Unfortunately, I have to agree with some reviewers about the format of the story telling which made it a pain to read. However, I know the authors have exerted much effort in writing this, and that I truly appreciate.
This book was written in letters, text, and emails. There was only a little paragraph description and dialog. These were new authors forme to read; both have a start/stop way of telling the story. This starting & stopping made this reader feel very much like an observer that was frustrated with the wishy-washy emotions of the character. This book did very little in entertaining me and I finished it only so I could write an honest review. This reader found the book shallow and average.
What an interesting way to tell a story! Especially a cowritten book. Well done by the authors.
This book is comprised of emails, text messages, current povs and flashbacks. At first I wasn't sure if it would work but it ended up being fine.
Lilly and Adin met in college and developed feelings for each other but the timing was never right so they kept their feelings to themselves. Present day is 10 years later and they reconnect. What follows is miscommunication, misinterpretation, misinformation and misunderstandings. Just a lot of misses. Most are relatable but that's the danger of not speaking in person. Lol I really liked Adin. He loved so freely and was open to a fault. Lilly was a tougher nut to crack. There were times I wanted to shake her to snap out of it. In the end I liked them both plus the supporting cast.
I'd recommend it if you enjoy back and forth and push and pull. It's well written and had depth and growth.
This book is awesome! I loved the way it was written. Shifting the perspective between Lily and Adin was a great way to write this book but it was infuriating at times when they were leaving things unsaid. I just wanted to shoutout so they could hear me. It was great and almost felt like I was looking back at my own college years and relationships. It also made me wanted to take my camera out the closet and explore. So good I couldn’t stop reading and when all was done I wished there was more.
This was a great read in part due to the writing style the authors chose to use. I think alternating between Adin and Lily really helped the reader feel invested in both characters vs rooting for just one of them to be happy. I thoroughly enjoyed this one!
I love that this book is a romance with substance. It really draws you into the characters and you become emotionally invested. The past lovers to current lovers theme is done so well and you just want to keep reading and rooting for them to have their happy ending. This is a wonderfully written book!
A romance book that I was unfortunately able to get into. It’s a typical story. I could not get into the characters unfortunately.
