Well Mary Alice Monroe, you have done it again. Once I started this book, as usual, I could hardly put it down. MAM writes to vividly I could feel the ocean breeze, smell the salt air, hear the waves and see the turtles hatching. Her characters are so real, I feel like they are my friends and I am a part of their group living right next door, showing up for the turtle walks. Her books are just as complicated as life with ups and downs. The dialogues and emotions are true and you laugh and cry on cue. I dont want to write a spoiler review but this book carries on with the legacy of Lovie, Cara and the rest of her family. You dont have to read the other books before this one, however, I think you will want too once you read this one. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced read and thank you Mary Alice Monroe. She’s lost her job, her boyfriend, and her home. She feels like a failure. Cara Rutledge, her aunt, is again at a crossroads in her life. She is working at the SC Turtle Hospital and trying to spend as much time with her daughter, Hope, and her fiancé’. She feels like things are moving too fast on the wedding planning front, and then something happens to make her slow down. This book like the others in the series feature strong familial roots, a couple new characters, and more sea turtles. :) I can’t help but think that this novel came in the perfect time. Released during the Covid-19 pandemic, this books teaches us that we have to listen to ourselves and adapt to the happenings around us, just like we are all having to do with this pandemic. His is the perfect beach read, as are the others in this series, and I cannot wait to have my hard copy. Do yourself a favor and read this novel. If you haven’t read the others in the series, this one can be a stand alone, but having read the others first will make the backstory make a to more senses. Happy reading!

When you see the name Mary Alice Monroe you know you will be reading a wonderful book. Having said that, "On Ocean Boulevard" is no exception! So now we return to Cara and the Rutledge family in Charleston, South Carolina. It's like going back to old friends. Reading this book now during the pandemic takes me away to places I have come to know and love through Ms. Monroe's stories. Absolutely love it! Cara Rutledge is overwhelmed with trying to plan her wedding, look for a bigger place to live, and try to balance the work/home life, and now it is turtle season! Cara’s niece Linnea has just returned to the island from California after she and her boyfriend John decided to call it quits and the place she worked unexpectedly went under . Linnea is jobless and homeless, and turns to her Aunt Cara for advice. As the summer rolls on, people fall in love, a wedding gets postponed, financial problems come knocking and a life-threatening illness rocks several members of the family to the core.
This is the quintessential beach read. There is a good storyline, and a great combination of general fiction and romance (with a lot of facts about sea turtles thrown in for good measure). I highly recommend it!

This is the sixth book in Mary Alice Monroe's Beach House series, however; all of the books can be read on their own. But believe me, once you read one, you will want to read them all. MAM has never disappointed me with any of her books that I've read. This one was no exception. It is not necessarily a light-hearted beach read but deals with a few complex issues, whether it be illnesses or environmental. I like reading about these issues because of the educational aspect, this book has a few. I feel like every Beach House book I read I am being taken farther along with the entire Rutledge family and into the next generation. This story seemed to take me back to how much I liked the very first book, The Beach House. The Beach House was my favorite so this can be added to a favorite now too. A very enjoyable read.

Mary Alice Monroe does not disappoint in her lowcountry story. While reading it I felt as if I were actually there - part of the story. The story moves flows quite nicely and in fact I can't wait until the next story. I have followed the turtle team since the first story characterizing them and thoroughly enjoy the inclusion of the turtles in the story line

"On Ocean Boulevard". Authored by a favorite, Mary Alice Monroe. Reading this , feels like going home. Characters, who those of us have come to love in previous books of this author welcomes the reader back to Rose Cottage and the ocean. Follow the ladies of The Turtle Team and the centuries old pilgrimage of the loggerheads. It should be noted that one does not have read the previous books in order to just thoroughly enjoy this one. It is an easy read and the reader will not want to say goodbye as the story ends.

This book is an excellent beach read for 2020. It explores a new relationship for an old favorite, Cara Rutledge, and delves into the love of her niece, Linnea while focusing on environmental issues and a desire to encourage readers to help keep the ocean free of plastics. On Ocean Boulevard is a great book! Know that you can read this as a standalone, though it is part of a collection series. I love Mary Alice Monroe's writing style, her realistic and likeable characters, and her descriptive beach scenes that make you yearn to stroll barefoot through the sand searching for signs of turtle life. There is so much I love about this book and I breezed through it quickly and eagerly. A perfect beach read!

Like meeting up with an old friend you see every summer. The Rutledge family continues to change and grow and struggle, just like everyone else. There is the beach, Mount Pleasant and of course the annual pilgrimage of the sea turtles. A perfect kick off to this season’s summer beach reads.

Monroe’s last book, The Summer Guests, was set in the foothills of North Carolina and missed the mark for me. I am so happy On Ocean Boulevard takes us back to Charleston and our friends, the Rutledges. We get reacquainted with our old friends and make some new ones and of course the Turtle Team is still featured. Cara is the main character and the book follows her as a her like changes a in preparation for her wedding. There are interesting subplots. That weave through the story and hopefully lay the groundwork for a book featuring Linnea.
My only complaint is that ai couldn’t read it at the beach!

Mary Alice Monroe's on ocean boulevard is part of a series but reads well as a stand alone. Set on The Isle of palms near Charleston South Carolina, this book is the story of coming home, new beginnings, new friendships, family, and love. A story of Hope. It's a perfect summer read! I also loved reading and learning about the loggerhead turtles and as a self-proclaimed "green queen" I really enjoyed the environmental side notes in this story and the characters commitment to cleaning up the beaches and the oceans. Personally, I'd love to go back and read more in this series ️😊

Mary Alice Monroe has a knack for writing a low country setting. The Rutledge family has long been a well to do family in Charleston and on the surrounding islands, but each member of the family has had something to overcome. Cara is planning her second wedding, after losing her first husband. Her niece Linnea has just returned home after losing her job and her boyfriend. Her parents Porter and Julia are trying to rebuild after bankruptcy.

This is a charming southern family story and you will fall in love with the Rutledge family. The setting is ideal. Each character is facing their own challenges but is able to persevere. Monroe is also able to tie in some hard hitting issues such as vaccinations and environmental conservation which she is known for. This is the perfect book to usher in summer.

Mary Alice Monroe’s newest book, On Ocean Boulevard, has brought us back again to South Carolina. The beauty of the isles outside Charlestown with the sandy beaches and turtle nests always calls to me, but most importantly we are back at Primrose Cottage. It is turtle season and time for the turtle ladies to help protect the future of the species.

Cara and her daughter Hope are living with David out on his island. Cara is still working at the aquarium and planning her wedding. Linnea has returned from California after the loss of her job and her boyfriend. Eddi is taking care of Flo who is becoming more confused. Linnea’s parents are focused on building a cottage at the beach in order to start over again. Into this storyline we are introduced to new characters and reintroduced to characters we know and love. As always there are hurdles to overcome and with all those strong characters difficulties.

I love these novels. Each time Mary Alice Monroe brings me back to the Primrose Cottage and to the beaches, I am drawn back into the stories with such happiness. I love the writing and the characters. I love how each chapter begins with information about the turtles. I love how she teaches us about taking care of our world without sounding preachy. All the information is built into the story so wonderfully. On Ocean Boulevard by Mary Alice Monroe is an awesome read.

My Thoughts: When Linnea Rutledge returns to the island in On Ocean Boulevard, she has much to work through. Will she restore her faith in herself after a failed relationship and job in California? Will reuniting with her family be a burden or a gift?

Having enjoyed other beach books in this series, I was glad to rejoin Cara Rutledge, Linnea’s aunt, as she planned for a big change in her life, too. A new man, an adorable little daughter, and the joy of watching her niece find her niche as she immerses herself in environmental issues.

The beach houses were lovely to visualize, as the descriptive prose invited the reader in and gave an opportunity to learn some of the history of the family and the Charleston area as the story unfolded.

The narrative skipped around quite a bit, but I did enjoy the journey. I would have liked a more in-depth peek into their lives, but I did enjoy how dedicated they all were to the environment. Each chapter began with snippets about the sea turtles that are a recurring theme. 4 stars.

The setting was familiar, and the story took me to the warm sandy beaches of SC. This book ties together a little tasteful romance, past and present, with current environmental issues to make for an interesting read. This is one of a series but reads well as a stand-alone. Another excellent book from Mary Alice Monroe! This book was a return to the beloved characters in her Beach House series and the setting in the low country is a favorite with me. Monroe combines telling the story of the Rutledge family and their relationships along with environmental issues and the loggerhead turtles. This book picks up as Cara is preparing for her second wedding. The Rutledge family have been living in Charleston SC for generations. But as all good southern books show, family is not necessarily what they seem. This book continues with the sea turtles, devastating illness, family troubles and coming together as a family. I adore The Beach House series and will read anything at all that Mary Alice Monroe writes. But as much as this book continues from books 1-5 this can be a stand alone book. You do not have to read books 1-5 to understand what is going on but I would encourage you to go back and read everything that MAM has written. You will be happy you did.
