Enjoyed the continual story of Lovie's family. The only negative comment I have to make about the book is the profanity.

I didn't realize that this book was part of a series, even thought I had read on of her other books.

The books starts with Linnea having to move back home to South Carolina. She lost her job and broke up with her boyfriend so she goes back to live with her parents who are going through their own issues. Linnea is happy to be near her family and participating in the annual turtle migration on the island.

Cara is Linnea's aunt and she is getting married soon. She has a young daughter she adopted after her first husband passed away. She is stressing about the upcoming wedding, and the new house her brother, Linnea's dad is building.

When there is an illness, the family comes together and it show its strength as people step up their game.

I enjoyed how the book engaged me right away. I wanted to know more about everyone. I was a little confused by how some relationships were not very well defined but now knowing there were previous books, it make sense. It is still very much a stand alone book.

I've been a fan of Mary Alice Monroe's books for many years and was delighted to receive an ARC of On Ocean Boulevard for an honest review. The story is the perfect read on a quiet day on a comfy couch with a cup of hot chocolate. I loved reading about women over the age of 50 preparing for the wedding of their 55 year old best friend, and the return to the Isle of Palms, the setting of so many of Monroe's books in the low country. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of the book.

Good book. Enjoyed the characters. I especially liked the interactions between the different generations.

Mary Alice Monroe never disappoints!!!!!!!!!!! I love her Lowcountry series and this new one was just as great and wholesome as the others!!!!!!! I love how you can fall right in love with her characters and fall right bck into their lives no matter how long it is between books!! She continues the series with Cara Rutledge and this adds in her grown up nieces story also. I give this one a definite 5 stars. Thank you to Netgalley and Gallery Books for my honest review

Another enjoyable read from MAM. I always love the beach setting, the lessons on wildlife and the environment.. the lovely little sea turtles. Sweet, if a bit predictable, but lovely nonetheless.

I love Mary Alice Monroe's beach series. On Ocean Boulevard can be a stand alone novel or a continuation of prior books as the characters (or some of them) appear in more than one story. This continuation from her other books brings the reader right back into the lowcountry. If you are a new reader of Mary Alice's and enjoy this book, I recommend that you read all of her others in this series, as well as all of her other books. Her characters you meet will follow into other books so you start to consider them family and cannot wait to see their next adventures.

Her writing is so descriptive you can almost see and smell the surroundings of the Lowcountry from her words.
A good example of this was at the very beginning when Linnea Rutledge was returning home to Charleston by plane from California. As she looked out the window as she came into Charleston, the quote is "From her vantage point, the rivers looked like great arteries, and the myriad creeks were veins. Saltwater coursed through them like a bloodstream. The tides were the Lowcountry's pumping heart."

The plot of this book follows actual happenings in todays world environmentally and the love of and problems of ocean life and the people involved. Sea turtles are a big part of Mary Alice's life and I especially enjoyed the snippets about sea turtles at the beginning of each chapter. It is a terrific way to educate new readers about turtles and fabulous reminders to those of us on turtle teams.

Each page of this book leaves you wanting more and before you know it the book is finished and you hope the next one is published soon!

3 1/2 stars- this is the 1st book I’ve read in this series and I enjoyed it as a stand alone novel. I thought it was a good “beach read”. I enjoyed the characters and the setting on a SE Atlantic barrier island. I also enjoyed the themes of the plight of sea turtles and ocean conservation. I am one of those beach walkers that carries a trash bag; but I thought the factual introductions to each chapter were a bit awkward. I also thought the storyline was a choppy, at times, jumping between characters. Thanks for the ARC

From the time that I read “The Beach House”, Mary Alice Monroe has been a favorite author. I love her family sagas set in the low country. That being said, this is book number six in the Rutledge family story. In this book we find Linnea returning from California, Palmer and Julia permanently residing in their beach house while also trying to recover from near financial ruin and selling the Rutledge family home in Charleston proper, Cara spending a lot of time commuting between her job at the aquarium, David’s home and her own beach house with four year old Hope in tow while also preparing for her upcoming wedding, and of course, the ladies of the Turtle Team around which the Rutledge family story centers. This book covers a lot of territory. One thing that I really love about Mary Alice Monroe’s books is the way that she weaves the characters from two different families (and series) together in her books. So while waiting on the next installment of the Muir family saga, we get a glimpse of what is happening in their lives in this Rutledge volume. While I always enjoy her books, I did feel that this one was a bit disjointed and fell a little bit flat, which is unusual for this author. I felt like there was a rush to tie up story lines, and there were a few unnecessary characters thrown in for good measure. That being said, I would still recommend this book for a great summer read (it comes out on May 19th) most especially for those of you who love this author as much as I do. Thank you Net Galley for allowing me to preview this book.

I appreciate the opportunity to read this book. Unfortunately I think there were just too many characters in the book, I couldn't keep up with who belonged to who and gave up about 1/2 way through the book. Thank you again for the opportunity.

It’s so nice to be able to continue to read about the Rutledge family (although this book could be read as a stand-alone).

The book picks up again in the lives of Cara (with David and Hope), Palmer and Julia, Linnea, and Emma, along with a few new characters. Ms. Monroe does such a nice job of immersing the reader in the real world of the Charleston area, including continuing to start each chapter with a few sentences about the area and loggerhead turtles. She reminds me that I really need to visit the aquarium the next time I’m in the area.

This book is great if you like lots of descriptions. In my opinion, it gives so many descriptions that it's hard to find the story within them. I really don't like to review a book that I haven't finished, but I am obligated to give an honest review for Netgalley allowing me a copy of it. There are too many books on my "to be read" list to take the time to finish this one. The over abundance of descriptions bogs down the speed of reading and the speed of the story.. When you stop and think, "What has happened so far?", it's hard to come up with an answer that would justify the 60% that I've read. Since I haven't read the previous books in the series, I had no ownership in the characters.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. If I had nothing else to read, this would be a pleasant, lazy summer day kind of read.

Mary Alice Monroe returns to the beach so beloved by her readers. This story focuses on Cara's niece Linnea, returning to Sullivan's Island to start over after a disastrous time in California. Cara herself is about to be married, and the rest of the cast of characters are also in a state of flux.

Her books always feature the natural world around us, and the characters are as familiar to her readers as family.

Mary Alice Monroe did it again! I want to move to the South. I loved how the story picked up from her last book. It started a bit slow but then I could not put it down. I loved the description of the beachy area and the islands. Of course, the turtles were center stage! I had to keep "googling" info; they are so interesting.

A delightful conclusion to a great series. The characters have real lives and real problems are are totally realistic. Cara plans to remarry, but is afraid of loosing herself. After much soul searching, she is able to move forward into the future. Her niece moves back from California after a breakup and needs to build a new life. The beach, the sea and the turtles help with moving forward.

Another winner from Mary Alice Monroe! I always enjoy the author’s stories, and her topic of conservation of our oceans, without coming across as preachy about it. Although this is the latest in her Beach House saga, and it is definitely helpful to have read the others, don’t be afraid to dive in if you haven’t. But read the others; you’ll be glad you did.

I always enjoy Monroe’s books. I especially love books taking place in Charleston and Sullivan Island. She always includes stories about growth as a family and new beginnings. Love and tradition are a central theme.

It was wonderful to go back to Primrose Cottage on Isle of Palms near Charleston, SC , and catch up with what's going on in the Rutledge family. As I read this book, I felt like I was spending time with old friends at the beach. This is a story about love - love of family and love for the world that we live in.

The Rutledge family was an old and respected family in the history of Charleston. Cara is living on the Isle of Palms in her mother's old beach house. She in learning how to be a mother to her adopted daughter and is in the process of planning her wedding to David whose main goal in life seems to do whatever he can to make Cara happy. She is fretting over the wedding, over the time she gets to spend with her daughter and over family issues. Her niece Linnea has just returned from California after losing her job and ending her relationship. She is unsure of what she wants to do next and how she fits into her family. When a terrible illness affects Cara's daughter, it makes everyone re-evaluate their plans for the future and make changes to help them all become happier. This is a season of return, rebirth and growth for Cara and Linnea as they face the future.

This is a beautiful story of love and family, new beginnings and learning to live in the future instead of the past. As with all of Mary Alice's books, her love of the environment shines through her novel. In this book, it's the loggerhead turtle and every chapter starts with a fact about sea turtles. There is also a lot of information about how pollution - especially plastic - in the ocean hurts the turtles and other sea animals. So along with my mental trip to the beach, I was able to learn more about sea turtles! I highly recommend this book!
