Adele and Justine have never been close. Born twenty years apart, Justine was already an adult when Addie was born. The sisters love each other but they don’t really know each other.

When Addie dropped out of university to care for their ailing parents, Justine, a successful lawyer, covered the expenses. It was the best arrangement at the time but now that their parents are gone, the future has changed dramatically for both women.

Addie had great plans for her life but has been worn down by the pressures of being a caregiver and doesn’t know how to live for herself. And Justine’s success has come at a price. Her marriage is falling apart despite her best efforts.

Neither woman knows how to start life over but both realize they can and must support each other the way only sisters can. Together they find the strength to accept their failures and overcome their challenges. Happiness is within reach, if only they have the courage to fight for it.

My thoughts:
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I'm a huge fan of Robyn Carr and her novels. She creates great characters and realistic situations.

I really enjoyed the story here, of sisters reuniting and working together to overcome tough times. Watching each of them find out what they want for their next stage of life was so satisfying. Very well written, a quick read, great setting details. I loved the description of the town, the beach, the coast. And a little touch of romance didn't hurt either!

I love Robyn Carr.

Now that we got that out of the way. I did not enjoy this novel. It was very slow. I wanted to enjoy the characters....but I found Justine to be very problematic. All in all, at the end of the day, this novel was not a good fit for me 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Robyn Carr tackles the real life issues and doesn't shy away from the messy part. I am 20 years older than my sister so I could relate to the sister’s relationship. Thank heaven we don’t have any of the cheating husband stuff in our relationship, but this was a realistic relationship between the girls. I started reading it last night before bed so it was a long night for me. I should know better by now that I can’t start a Robyn Carr book and do real life. I need to see what happens next and before you know it you have an hour to sleep before the alarm goes off. This book was worth every minute of lack of sleep

The Review
A fantastic, emotional, and engaging read, author Robyn Carr’s “Sunrise on Half Moon Bay” is a great story of family, relationships, and finding your true self. The harsh circumstances these two sisters find themselves in are truly emotional and heartbreaking, but the journey they go on with one another leads to changes that many readers will be able to identify with as moments in their own journeys in life.

This novel’s greatest strength is character development, as the protagonists, Justine and Addie take readers on two very different yet similar experiences of getting out of stagnant, debilitating situations and taking the dive to find the things that make them feel whole and complete again. Surrounding them are new romances, good friends, personal and professional rivals, and at the heart of the story, family. The setting does a great job of tying the story into the character’s journey perfectly, really giving the readers a clear picture in their mind of the events unfolding.

The Verdict
A wonderful read, author Robyn Carr’s “Sunrise on Half Moon Bay” is a must-read contemporary romance and women’s fiction read that readers are not soon to forget. An average length read this story keeps the readers engaged on a personal level throughout the entirety of the book, and will be the perfect read for anyone looking for that perfect escape. Justine and Addie are sisters who love each other, but don't know how to really relate. They were born 20 years apart. When their parents needed care, it was the younger Addie who became the caregiver while Justine supported the family. Now that their parents are gone, Addie doesn't know how to live for herself and Justine's relationship issues have thrown her into a tailspin. The two sisters have to rekindle a bond that was never very solid.

A truly touching story of two sisters who deal with life in different ways. Robyn Carr has a way of grabbing the reader's attention and not letting you go. I couldn't put this book down. I laughed and cried, which in my opinion is a fantastic read.

Adele and Justine are sisters who are 20 years apart. They have never really been close. When both of their parents pass away after Adele has been caring for them for the past eight years, both sister find a big change in their lives. Adele has only been a caretaker for the past 8 years since she dropped out of school to take care of her parents and now she doesn't have any idea what she is going to do with the rest of her life. For Justine, her job is going through a merger and she's not sure she even wants this job anymore, plus her marriage is in trouble. Will these sisters be able to get back on the right path?

Thank you to NetGalley and MIRA books for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I really enjoyed this book. It hooked me from the very beginning and I enjoyed the story from start to finish. This was a family you were invested in and you wanted to see what was going to happen with these ladies.

Being a caretaker is a hard job and Adele has dedicated the past eight years of her life to doing just that. She left school at Berkley because of other issues she was having and didn't look back once her parents got ill. Now it's time to start her life and even though she and her sister aren't close, maybe this is something to bring them closer.

Justine seems like she has it all together, putting on a brave face for those in her inner circle, never letting her emotions getting the best of her. At first, I didn't like Justine, but in the end, she won me over. She is the bread winner in the family and when she finds out her husband is having an affair, you would think she would show some type of something, but it takes a while.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I've only read a few of Robyn Carr's books, but I look forward to reading more.

I am a huge Robyn Carr fan. I typically read her series but am learning to love the stand alone books as well. This is a stand alone and does not tie into any of her previous books at all. Part of why I love the series is because Carr has a way of bringing the reader into the story and making you feel like you are in the cast of characters so I love being able to stay with the characters for several books.

In Sunrise on the Half Moon Bay the reader follows two sisters that are both experiencing major changes in their from divorce, death, new love, and job changes. The sisters find a way to reconnect and help each other through these big life changes while growing into their own. I would love to see more of Addie and Justine and maybe even Scott.

I would recommend this to anyone that loves a romance but its not a hot and steamy romance! I would categorize this read as women's fiction/romance.

I received this book as an advanced reader copy through Netgalley from HARLEQUIN-Trade Publishing asking only for an honest opinion in return.

Robyn Carr really knows how to tug on your heart strings. I’m definitely someone who can get emotional easily, but Robyn Carr really got me with this one. This was a feel-good story about love, loss, and sisterhood.

First, Addie and Justine have a very interesting story. At 20 years apart, they never really had a sisterly relationship. Justine is a successful lawyer and her husband stays at home with their two daughters. Adele dropped out of college when she had a relationship go wrong and then she became a caretaker for her parents. This relationship was believable because there really are instances like that where there are significant age gaps between two siblings. The relationship that they had were more friendly than sisterly and I could really could see that happening in real life.

Now that Addie is done being a caretaker for her parents, she is in a panic of what to do with her life since that took up all of her time and she doesn’t have a degree. Justine’s life is falling apart around her as well and needs to decide on what she wants to do with her life. As they are going through similar life changes, the sisters really rely on each other. I loved the fact that this was a sister-friendly story. It was nice to see sisters relying on each other in such a hard time in their lives, especially because they are so far apart in their lives. Robyn Carr made both Addie, Justine and her daughters extremely relatable and I really liked that.

Robyn Carr did a great job identifying the issues in this novel and showing an ending to every single one of them. I didn’t have any questions at the end of who went where or how a situation ended up. This definitely was a feel-good novel about overcoming obstacles. There were many problems shown in this novel, but I didn’t think it was overdone or too much.

Finally, Robyn Carr wrote about something that isn’t mentioned enough. I won’t spoil it or give it away, but I was surprised to read about this situation. It was definitely unexpected, but a good surprise. This situation isn’t talked about enough and almost holds a “stigma” for it. I’m glad that this was written in here because it made this story that much more interesting!

The only reason why I didn’t give Sunrise on Half Moon Bay a five-star rating was the fact that there were somethings that seemed repetitive. There were somethings already explained or talked about, and they got repeated throughout the novel. I understand the concept of really driving it home, but this kind of took away from the story.

Overall, this was my first Robyn Carr novel, but definitely not my last. I fell in love with the way Robyn Carr writes, and how she makes everything in her stories come to life.

4.25 Hearts I would have picked up this book no matter what because it is Robyn Carr and I love her work, but when I read Half Moon Bay and it was set in the coastal town not far from where I grew up I knew I had to read it. I can picture every scene Carr writes. And I loved it!

This is a story of Addie and Justine. Sisters who love each other but, as I tell my son, don’t necessarily like each other. But life is changing for both of them so now they need to turn to each other.

I have always loved the way Robyn Carr writes but something about this story was special to me. Maybe it was the location, or the fact that I just found out I have a half-sister but this story just really hit home.

I loved Addie and Justine and all they have and all they want to have. Another great story worth every hour Robyn Carr put into it.

All of us have times in our lives where things seem to pretty much go on as "normal" and, unfortunately, times when change is forced upon us. Even when the change ends up being for the better, most of us would rather call the shots than to have situations or other people make us change.

Adele has been living her life for others for her whole adult life. She dropped out of college and moved home to care for sick parents. Her life hasn't been bad, and she could have chosen to leave, but she didn't. However, she's never been in a position where she felt she was making career, school or relationship decisions. Now her parents are gone, and she plans to make plans when she decides what she thinks she wants--yea, she isn't doing a whole lot.

Her sister, on the other hand, has a full life--a high-flying career, two kids, a husband, etc. Until that implodes. Now both sisters are trying to put their lives back together which, in part, means deciding what they want--and yes, WHO they want is part of it too.

As with many of Robyn Carr's books, the characters are the strength of this book and through their eyes we see that even people whose lives appear perfect often have problems the world doesn't see. I cheered for these sisters as they charted their new lives an believe you will too.
