This book is about two sisters who are both at a crossroads in their life. For both sisters it is finding the courage to move on. They are both a different times in their lives but at this moment they need each other more than anything. This is a good story about finding what motivates you to do what you really love and want. Adele's past "love" was annoying rehashing it over and over after 8 years and still not knowing anything. When ever she talked about it I felt like she was channeling a teenager again and it got old quickly. There is love in this book but it's more about the sisters then romance. Robyn does put a said and hard to read for some people and for others to who don't realize it happens more than we all think in the book. This book was still good and it shows that family comes together and woman can overcome anything.

I enjoyed this book. It takes place on the California coast and follows two sisters, Justine and Adele as they both make big discoveries and changes in their lives. I liked their relationship and could relate to their trials. This is a well written story of sisters, family, grief, healing, change, and love. I would recommend this to someone looking for a chick read, cozy read, or beach read.
Sunrise on Half Moon Bay by Robyn Carr is an emotional and sweet story of family and sisterhood. Justine and Adele are sisters, but with the 20-year age difference, they are not that close, but they do care about each other. Justine is a successful attorney, being the breadwinner for the family, and married to Scot, a stay at home dad, with two children.
Adele was planning to go to college, but when her father died, and her mother had a stroke, she dropped out of school to take care of her mother. Justine helped staying with the mom once a week to give Adele a break, and giving her money, as well as playing their expenses. 8 years later, her mother dies, and Adele needs to find a way to resume her life. At the same time, Justine’s marriage is falling apart, as her husband is having an affair, and spending his money on his mistress.
What follows is a change in both of their lives, with Justine moving forward with a divorce, as well as having to deal with her husband using the money to pay off his mistress debts; and Adele deciding it was time for her to find a job. It was nice to see Adele accidently fall into a job which helps people, and discovers she is very good at it. The sisters become closer, as they both must face the new challenges life has given them, and be able to be there to support each other along the way
.
Both Adele and Justine will also find themselves with friends that eventually would grow to a relationship, giving both the happiness they deserved. I liked the many secondary characters Carr created, which included Adele’s work friends and Jake, who was her best friend; as well as Justine’s friend who helped her through the divorce and a new job. I did not like Scot, nor his girlfriend, who both not nice.
Sunrise on Half Moon Bay was a wonderful heartwarming and emotional story line, very well written by Robyn Carr. It is a story that revolves around two sisters, in very different stages of their lives, who bond together to embrace their sisterhood and the changes life offers to bring back happiness.
A reader could not go wrong reading anything by Ms. Carr and this book is no exception. Justine thought her life was going along well when she finds out the life she knew would come to an end after finding out her husband has been unfaithful. Addie is trying to get back to life as it was before she took care of a mother who now has passed away. Both ladies sisters with a twenty year difference among them having never been close but some incidents in both their life brings them closer together and allow them to realize they had always had each other. Review on goodreads and eventually amaazon.
I was totally disappointed in this book. To me, the writing was choppy and some parts were not very realistic. During one conversation, one character's dialog was all exclaims! Every sentence!
Love Robyn Carr's work, but this book just wasn't enjoyable to me.
Sunrise on Half Moon Bay is a stand-alone by Robyn Carr set on the Northern California coast. It is the story of two sisters, 20 years apart in age, who both are at a turning point in their lives. Adele, the younger sister is not sure where her life should take her after spending eight years being the caregiver for her aging parents. Justine, a very successful attorney, is trying to deal with a husband who never contributed to the family besides being a stay at home dad. Lately he hasn't even been doing that very well. As circumstances bring Addie and Justine closer than they have ever been, both sisters find a way to re-invent their lives and become the family that they both need.
I truly enjoyed this book. The setting of small town America, the characters, and the important issues that Robyn Carr brings to the forefront make this a page turner.
Many thanks to Harlequin and Netgalley for an advanced copy in return for an honest review.
Robyn Carr gets me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It's almost like she lives in my head and heart. Because of my current real life, the caregiver part of the story really resonated with me and this book hit home! This book was a great read and I can think of so many readers that will clamor for this title!
Sunrise on Half Moon Bay is everything I expect from a Robyn Carr novel: Emotional, Heartfelt, and pure story-telling.
With the passiing of their mother, the two sisters born 20 years apart have to come to terms with their lives. Justine is a successful lawyer who has provided the funds for her younger sister Addie to care for their mother. In order for Addie to do that, she has had to drop most of her classes and is pretty warn down by caring for her mother single-handed.. Justine's marriage is rather rocky. She comes home to Half Moon Bay to sell the house and put her mother's thing in order. Instead, the two sisters finally become family and work out their differences, and forge new lives. As in all of Carr's book, happiness awaits!
Robyn Carr is a prolific writer of women's fiction; to name just a few there she has written the Virgin River, Grace Valley and Thunder Point series. Her many fans will pretty much always read what she writes.
This title is a standalone. It tells the story of Justine (in her fifties) and Addie (in her thirties), sisters who, due to their age difference, were not especially close. Addie, for reasons that the book makes clear, left her degree program to care for her parents while married mother Justine went from success to success with the support of her house parent husband.
However, as we all know, novels often have an arc. Characters have experiences, struggle, grow, learn and, if they are lucky, find themselves in a better place. As Justine's marriage implodes and Addie tries to figure out what to do with her life, what will happen? At the end of the novel, will the sisters be closer and happier? (Readers will hope so).
In following the Justine and Addie's stories, Ms. Carr explores social issues including women who return to the workforce insecure after years away and men who face partner abuse. The author clearly wants her readers to know that there is help for those who suffer.
This book is an easy read that fans of the author will welcome. The small town setting is very appealing.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.
Robyn Carr is back with a heartwarming story of two sisters, separated by an age gap and vastly different life experiences, who come together to rebuild their lives. What they learn about themselves and each other is a second chance journey worth taking. Recommended.
Sunrise on Half Moon Bay was such a little gem of a book! I was able to read it in one day! It's a story of adult sisters finding their friendship, and discovering who they truly are! It's a quick mindless read, perfect for this time of year!
What a great story about second chances in life, and learning you really are a strong woman! Great positive message to send to the women of today! 5 Strong stars for this one!
Two sisters, Adele & Justine, born twenty years apart and never really close. After the death of their mother, and circumstances that catch Justine out of nowhere, watch how these sisters find their way back and become the best friends that sisters should be.
Grab this one asap, I loved it!
Two sisters born many years apart try to start over. While one stayed behind to be a caregiver the other went Into law school.
This book resonated with me from the caregivers point of view. A great book that really spoke to me !
Two sisters, one in her early 30s and the other twenty years older, find themselves in the life reset position. Addie, 32, was caretaker for her parents at the end of their lives. She left college and for the next eight years stayed mostly in her parents’ home caring for them. Now she is in a position of reassessing her goals. Justine, 52 and mother of two teens, shockingly finds out her marriage wasn’t as strong as she thought. She’s faced with major decisions and a future she’d never imagined. Robyn Carr’s story of new starts is just the story I’ve come to expect from her. With emphasis on empowerment, family, and moving forward these two sisters will find out how good life can be when they figure out exactly what they want and go after it. Recommend to fans of the author and women’s fiction.
I haven't read a lot of books by Robin Carr but I know that she is a wonderful writer and has a huge following. So I was excited to read this book!
This is the story of two sisters who are completely different and far apart in age. One is a high powered attorney with the perfect husband and children. The other gave up her education to return home to help with her ailing parents. Neither is aware of the changes that will face them upon the death of their mother.
This book has a lot to offer any reader. I was a little worried that it would be a silly romance but it wasn't and dealt with several pertinent issues. Grief, adultery, lies, and single parenthood. It was very well done and I highly recommend this book.
This was a quick read for me. I’ve enjoyed many of this author’s books previously and enjoyed this one too. It’s always hard to start over or move on but having family and friends always helps. I liked how the closeness of Justine and Allie evolved.. Her readers will definitely love this book too! Thanks to the publisher for the early copy
2 sisters having to start over. This book grabbed me from the beginning and was a quick read. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review. To be pubished April 14, 2020.
Sunrise on Half Moon Bay by author Robyn Carr is a wonderful story about two sisters who face unexpected transitions in their lives. Justine is twenty years older than Adele and has a fast-paced career and a busy family. Adele is at a crossroads after leaving college to help care for her parents for eight years. Since the death of her mother, Adele has been unable to reconnect with life outside of daily caregiving and feels at a loss in her plans for the future. Adele's best friend, Jake, tries to encourage her to learn to live her life again. One evening when he takes her out for pizza, Adele is shocked to see Justine's husband kissing another woman. Adele meets with Justine and tells her that Scott was with another woman. This begins a season for change for both of the sister's lives. The story proves that life can change in an instant and it will be our choices and decisions which will make a difference in how the story ends.
I enjoyed reading Sunrise on Half Moon Bay very much. I was a caregiver to my mom for six years and once it was over, I did the same as Adele. I felt as if I had lost a part of myself, but I was glad I had given those years for my mom.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.
I thoroughly enjoy getting lost in Robyn Carr’s novels and Sunrise on Half Moon Bay is the perfect example of why! Centering around sisters Justine and Adele (Addie), I was completely hooked from the very first chapter! Justine and Addie are sisters but being that they are 20 years apart in age they weren’t super close. Adele is in her early thirties and Justine in her early fifties, so the sisters are obviously in different stages in their lives, but they both find themselves going through major life changes and turn to each other for a shoulder to lean on.
I know there are a lot of readers looking for a great Women’s Fiction/Romance novel that’s a standalone and I am here to say this book is for you! I loved how Robyn Carr always organically develops characters /relationships and I really felt that with Sunrise on Half Moon Bay! This 5 star novel would make a fantastic beach read! As per usual, I already look forward to reading Robyn Carr’s next book!
