Sometimes Daddies Are is a great story to read to children. As a school teacher, I would love to read this book to my class before we write our Father's Day letters to our dads. It would remind my students of some of the wonderful ways daddies are silly, fun, and loving. Sometimes Daddies Are is a very cute and quick picture book read.
his book with lively illustrations is for the youngest listeners to hear. Told from a child's point of view, it shows in a comic way, some of the things that dad do not do perfectly. At the end of course, the most important thing is that the dad loves his child.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review
I thought this was a fun, light-hearted read for young kids. The illustrations are cute and colourful and the text is very simple and easy for beginners.
We generally love books about daddies. My husband is a wonderful father and it delights my daughter to read books about dads. This book has incredible illustrations and is a beautiful picture book, however the actual text is simplistic and did not draw us in.
I read it several times wanting to love it and I just didn't. I think with a little tweaking this could have been a 5 star book!
The publisher provided an ARC through Netgalley. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts
A silly and quirky book about the lengths dads will go to in order to bond with their kids, this story is easy, sweet, and fun. Age demographic feels to be anywhere from 1 to 3.
I read this book with my two year old and he seemed to really enjoy it! The illustrations are lovely and I will definitely add this to our little library.
A lovely story about dad's. Dad's can do anything. They are superheroes!
This book will make a wonderful Father's day gift
Thanks to Netgalley and Clavis Publishing for an early e-arc of Sometimes Daddies Are.... I really enjoyed this book. I can’t wait to read it to my students when it is released. It is amazing to see more Dad books being published.
The relationship is so sweet between the father and son. I love the scenarios they experience together. I can’t wait to buy this book for my husband and son. It will such a great bonding experience for them.
The illustration style is my favorite aspect of this book. The drawings are colorful and engaging for young children. On the other hand, I dislike how the book portrays the father in a stereotypical, one-dimensional manner, rather than capturing the complexity of a father-child relationship. The dad in the story is presented as silly, rough, and distracted, while the mom stands to the side, shakes her head, and takes care of the domestic duties. The story would have been much more compelling and realistic if it pictured the dad as more than just a male stereotype. It is wonderful when dads are goofy and strong but they also can be compassionate, gentle, thoughtful, and caring.
I find this book sexist. I would not purchase it for my child because it reinforces stereotypes about men and dads being incompetent idiots when it comes to parenting, rather than just as capable as being a parent as mom. One part that really stood out was the dad being messy—leaving his clothes around the house like a child—with the mom standing in the background with her arms crossed. But it’s okay, because “daddies just do that”. Not the message I want to send to my sons or daughters—especially not in the year 2020.
Daddy are generally rough when it comes to handling little ones.
They can't dress or feed them as expertly as their mom's.
But nevertheless they are the daddies that kids wait for at bedtime.
This picture books paints funny and realistic moments of a dad and his kid working their way through daily life.
Hippo father and hippo son, love each other and find each other doing weird things.
Dad sometimes becomes kid but he is always a spark when around little kid.
There are few books that endorse role of father, so get this one for your little kid as a reading primer.
Artwork is very good, wide and light backgrounds with fine drawings of background things.
Thanks netgalley and publisher for review copy.
This is the cutest! I read this to my children and they enjoyed every part of this story, silly and reminds them of their dad as well.
A twee little piece, with a rhinoceros family standing in for father/child relationships everywhere. The text just tells us they act a bit silly at times, they're a bit inept or forgetful at times, and they fart at times, and that's it. There's no real plot, just an affirmation of what some children get and what many do not.
Cute children's book about daddies and their imperfections. About how they can be silly and not always perfect. But there's nothing better than daddy. Great for small children.
This was a very cute story for kids to read and think of their dad. Every kid needs a book like this one.
This was a cute book, but all of the pages were out of order. This will be a good book for little ones when in order!
