This is a great resource for anyone that works with or has children that suffer from anger issues. I will be using some of these activities with my students.
This is such a great book to help kids with their anger and emotions. It teaches them how to control their anger in different ways. I think every kid should read this!
Engaging activities to help children become more self-aware and learn how to manage their emotions.by using a various techniques. The activiites were presented in an accessible way and there was a great choice of exercises to make sure that there is something suitable for everyone. A very useful resource for any parent/caretaker or educator.
This book contains so many different activities for helping a child identify and begin to manage some if the difficult feelings around being angry. There are explanations for both the child and the adult, so an older child may be able to do some of the activities independently, which can be good especially if a child is self-conscious. The only reason I have said that I wouldn't use this book in the classroom is that I feel it would be better used 1:1, perhaps at home with a parent/carer or with a Learning Mentor, where the child can have their own book and work through it.
As a clinician, I am always looking for tools to use with clients to address their needs. This workbook offers fun and engaging activities to help children identify their emotions and learn strategies to manage their reactions to their feelings. This a great resource for parents and providers alike.
Loved this! Easy and fun to use, informative for adults, although it didn't cover all aspects for me. I think more could have been done with this and I am hoping it will be a series. I could definitely see how this could be a huge help!
Loved this! Easy and fun to use, informative for adults (whether it be as parents or working with children) and for children.
A book that shows kids ways to control their emotions by working with them, not their parents.
The activities are easy to understand and fun to do. The book begins with identifying emotions and where they come from. It discusses emotions such as anger and where it comes from. It is helpful for children to understand if they are angry because they have to go somewhere they don’t want to go, that someone hit them or because they are having problems understanding something. Later, the kids are taught how to compromise using techniques like brainstorming. Empathy, making amends and identifying who you can trust with your feelings are also covered.
I will be purchasing this book for my 6-year-old grandson. It will definitely help him to navigate new school and home issues as they arise.
I received an ARC from Zietgeist/Z Kids Publishing through NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion or rating of this book. I am voluntarily submitting this review and am under no obligation to do so.
We used this workbook the past several weeks with my very intelligent and sometimes irrational 6 year old. The activities definitely helped. I have already sent information to several of my mommy friends who deal with similar outbursts which are normal but often unsettling for parents. Thanks for this amazing tool.
This complete workbook is a brilliant tool for kids to work through their anger. The exercises are engaging and explained well. While it is definitely more geared towards older kids who can read and write themselves, it’s not a bad workbook for younger kids to utilize alongside their parents.
3 for neutral, didn’t download, but will buy a copy eventually. I was looking forward to trying it with my oldest son.
This is a way to help children. We all learn our emotions and how to control them, or we at least try, and childhood is a major time to learn many things. Childhood is also a major time full of experiences including starting to understand feelings and anger is something we have all dealt with from early childhood to elementary school as we start school and spend more time with children our age. This is mostly what this book is geared toward elementary age children. It is designed to help children deal with their feelings and relationships with family as well as peers, perhaps friends. The end of the book includes some practice including games related to the lessons of the workbook. There are 40 activities focusing on six important skills. It is to help children learn the healthy skills they need for throughout their life to cope with and calm down when they feel anger. It is a good book for teachers and parents. Even though it is for elementary age it could be helpful giving ideas for younger and older children too perhaps. It is nice to see some of the way to help whether anger is an issue or not because we all feel anger sometimes and having ways to overcome it beneficial.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
This is a bright and colourful, engaging book for children to not only help them control their anger and frustrations but also to help them understand it and find their triggers too.
This is a fantastic resource for anyone with a child or working with children, to have.
This book is aimed at younger children under the age of 9.
There are plenty of topics and activities to do in the book to help keep the child's attention and keep it interesting for them to work through.
This book is very well done ! The way the kid is addressed (not guiltying or condescendent), the activities (I think they would be apealing to children) etc. I think it is a very good guide for kids, it makes them explore themselves and their feelings, but also other's. I don't have a kid but I myself had anger management issues when I was one. The techniques in this book are comparable to the ones I've learned to use myself and that work !
The tips are also good to take for the parents !
I love that it guides the child to express their feelings and helps improve comprehension !
Learning to manage difficult feelings can be quite challenging for young children. This book offers some age appropriate help for kids roughly between the ages of five and ten. Some of the chapters include Say Hello-and Goodbye-to Your Anger, Create Calm, Learn Self Control, Feel Great and more.
The author notes that this book is not appropriate for all kids, citing those who are having larger behavioral or mental health issues. For many children however the activities in this book may be very helpful. They are presented in an appealing fashion with many colorful illustrations.
I liked the way that the author spoke directly to her readers and her encouragement of doing these activities with a trusted adult. I recommend this book for families and it may also be useful for schools and therapists. You don't have to wait for anger to become an issue; the activities in this book can help children to recognize and name their feelings and find ways to cope.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.
This is a great book for parents to complete activities with their children to help them gain skills with grounding, calming down their emotions, ways to cope and gain a better control on their anger and emotions. The activities are set out in an easy to navigate and understand on how to complete with children. This book is certainly one that I will use for my autistic boys.

I was curious about this workbook because my 8 year old daughter has been dealing with anger lately.
I didn’t want to buy something without seeing it first so I am glad I was able to see an ebook if this workbook.
I really love all the different ways kids can work on their anger without boring them. That was my biggest fear with things like this.
I more than likely will purchase the print version if this. It’s perfect for children
Anger Management Skills Workbook for Kids, written by Amanda Robinson, is a colorful, fun, & informative book for young children. The activities have clearly been created with young hearts in mind. I can easily imagine sharing this with my 7 year old son, as mid- to late-elementary seems to be its perfect audience.
I've already preordered a copy for myself, my oldest son, and will pull particular pieces out for my soon-to-be Kindergartener.
Thank you to NetGalley & Zeitgeist for this digital copy to review.
One of my boys is having a tough time working through his anger in a productive way right now and he requested that I find him something to help. He is 10 but incredibly smart and mature for his age in many ways so he knows he needs some help. He is working through the workbook right now and I think he is finding it useful although it takes some time to change behaviors. I found that the exercises were very reminiscent of cbt (cognitive behavioral therapy) and since I think his anger issues are really anxiety issues disguised as anger that the exercises will be helpful to him. We are thankful for a book like this to come along right at a time when we really need something like this. I think it could help a lot of kids.
I was not able to read this in it's entirety due to some wonky formatting on my app, but it looks really useful from what I could see. I think both my son and I could benefit from working through the prompts.
