This novel is very new user friendly. I love how it gives a list of characters and how to read a graphic novel. It will help young readers get into a new form of literature. It’s a nice version for children around 5-7 years old. The novel can act like a picture book, but also a novel that they can read on their own when they are ready. I also love the diversity and inclusiveness of the novel. It is important to show different people in novels so every kid can see him or herself in novels.

It is not you Disney Beauty and the Beast. It’s more along Grimm’s Fairy Tales, but it isn’t graphic or scary. It shows Belle having sisters and there is no Gaston character. While reading, it would be helpful to have some Beauty and the Beast background knowledge, but it is still very easy to follow if the reader does not know the story line. Children will be able to grasp the concept of not judging anyone based on how they look.

I loved how at the end of the novel there was writing prompts, discussion questions and a craft! I have never seen a novel that has that and I think it is truly unique. It allows the reader/readers to keep discussing and enjoying the novel long after they finished reading. I will definitely recommend this novel to people at the bookstore I work at.

I enjoyed this graphic novel as the story of Beauty and the Beast is my favorite. I think it is appropriate for the 5-7 year old because it doesn't big down the story with too many details that would confuse a child. What a great introduction to Beauty and the Beast.

I received this graphic novel, in exchange for my honest review.

To start with, I read all the reviews on here, and saw that 95% gave low ratings and don't know why.

1. This is a YA graphic novel. The illustrations are cute, and the story literally follows the original story in 34 pages. This is a fun read for young readers starting to get into graphic novels. BOOKS HAVE NO AGE REQUIREMENT, ANYONE CAN READ IT, STOP BEING SO SENSITIVE. (rolling eyes)

2. I love how they gave this version of Beauty and the Beast, the "ethnic" look. I applaud it. I respect it. This is for the little girls who are of color, who can now haves something to call their own. Its relatable, because society always "white-washes"everything.

3. Middle sister Petty my favorite, just the name alone. Lastly, Beast after he transformed, he was white, and I loved it even more. Interracial relationships. Love is not defined by color.

I 100% recommend

I was very excited to read this graphic novel because Beauty and the Beast was one of my favorite fairy tales growing up. Unfortunately, this was a disappointment…

It felt like it was written by a 5 year old rather than FOR 5 year olds. The “story” was more of a poorly written summary. It was rushed and it skipped very important themes that could be discussed with a child. I honestly don’t think I would even bother giving it to a kid because there isn’t much that they could take out of it.

I don’t have much to say about the art. It’s average. The beast reminds me of James P. Sullivan from Monsters, Inc.

I really wanted to love this…

I will post my review to Goodreads around July 18th, 2020. Two weeks before the publication date.

I think I was mistaken because I thought this was YA. This seems more like middle grade or even lower. I’m not sure, but it seemed to simplified. I do love the diverse characters though

It was very short but cute story that we all know so well.
I really loved the artwork that they used in this grapic novel.

Thank you to NetGalley and Capstone for access to this arc.

What stood out to me initially, and still stands out to me the most, is the beautiful artwork. It was also lovely to see a Beauty who looks so different from the Disney version that has so permeated a lot of society and culture.

This version is written for younger readers, so the story is simplified and shortened. However, I think sometimes it feels a bit 'dumbed down' and there are some omissions for simplicity that result in the next part of the story does not flow quite as well as it might. But, overall, a nice retelling for younger readers.

While I recognize this was a children's book there was still no depth to this retelling. There just wasn't much in the way of meaningful conflict and character growth which is one of the most amazing things about the original Beauty and the Beast story! I did like the little added Cinderella twist that Beauty had two older cruel sisters, although I feel like that could have been explored more. I think that the story could have been made a little bit longer overall in order to add content that demonstrates some sort of life lesson or character growth.

Very cute and quick graphic novel of Beauty and the beast. I like how this one was more like the original short story and less like the popular Disney one. The diversity is great. I loved the colors and illustrations.

Such a fun read,I only wish it was a little longer.

Cute but very simplified retelling of Beauty and the Beast. This would be a good book for an early reader.

The bright and bold illustrations in this Beauty and the Beast graphic novel will instantly draw your eye. It was refreshing to see diversity in these beloved characters, and the mix of BatB crossed with a little Cinderella was a fun twist. The targeted age group will absolutely love this story! - I did wish for more pages and a bit more depth to the narrative and characters (and I think younger readers will too). Having writing/thought prompts at the end were a great add-in. I could definitely see this book bringing joy in libraries, classrooms and on bedroom bookshelves. Thank you so much to Capstone Publishing and NetGalley for an e-arc.

I received a copy of this graphic novel from netgalley for the copy in exchange for my honest review!

This is the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast but for a VERY young audience... even for the targetted age range, it seems far too dumbed down. I think a lot of the story has been left out which is a bit disappointing. I did like the art style though, and how Beauty was a person of colour to add diversity into the story. But like I said, I wish that the story had gone a bit more in depth.

I love all things fairy tale related. This graphic novel is the story of beauty & the beast with a little bit of Cinderella mixed in. I enjoyed this book though I wish it were a little longer with more of Belle & beasts story.

This is an adorable children's book! It's great to see this classic fairytale with some representation in it. The art style is super cute and it would be great for young kids who love the movie!

An odd mix of the classic Beauty and the Beast story with Cinderella's step-sisters mixed in. Loved the art style but overall a fairy superficial read with no depth to the characters.
A quick and pretty read.

3.5 stars

This Graphic Novel of a retelling of Beauty and The Beast is aimed for young readers.

I appreciated how they had instructions at the beginning for those who are new to these kind of books and it showed readers how to read a graphic novel. It also made it to be a bit of an activity book with questions you can answer at the end. The lllustrations were well done and I especially liked how the characters weren't white skinned. We also get to really meet Belles sister's and in a way, this is very similar to the story of Cinderella. I also really like the cover. The colours and the arrangement of the words and pictures are eye catching.

The part that I wasn't a huge fan on was that this is really simplified and what I would class as important bits, were missing. But by saying that, it is aimed for a young age group and this is how books for that age are written so I do think it was probably focusing on enough of the story to make it work.

Overall, I do recommend this for those beginning to learn English or are new to Graphic Novels or just wanting to know the basics of a well loved story.

A cute, diverse retelling of Beauty & the Beast, with elements of Cinderella in it. I understand that it's a graphic novel for little kids, but I do wish there was more dialogue. The whole thing went by so fast, I know younger me (even present-day me) would've appreciated getting to know more about these characters. The art is beautiful!

This is very simple, graphic novel version of Beauty and the Beast for the youngest readers. Pictures are vibrant and the story is straightforward and familiar. Perfect for kids beginning to read.

Simple mix between the Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast fairytales. I enjoyed the artwork greatly, but the storyline was over simplified. Very young readers will find the story enjoyable, but it will not appeal to a larger age range.
