A beautiful masterpiece! I honestly don’t know how to feel. My emotions are all over the place, I’m happy, hurt, and scared for Mo. I have no idea what I would do in her shoes. Mo has dug a hole and it’s filling up quickly. I loved this one! I highly recommend it!
This was a great addition to Ashley Antoinette's series. I was really caught up in the whole story and didn't even realize I had read all the way through the night! It's an easy book to get into and the character building is really well done.
Very good follow up to the first book in this series. I really enjoy the author's writing and storylines. Picked right up where the first book left off. Anticipating Butterfly 3. Good series. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest review. Receiving the book in this manner had no bearing on my review.
The Queen of Street/Urban lit does it again. Ms. Antoinette has made a career of penning hard-hitting, attention grabbing, page turners. This one follows in that very tradition. Though this is a follow up to a previous novel, it doesn't require reading the first one to follow the story. Very well done.
I feel like I can’t this a full review because I didn’t finish it. I knew it was part of a series but the description was interesting to me. I made it 30% through and decided to not finish. I felt like I had missed too much not having read previous books.
Ashley Antoinette has added another great addition to the Butterfly series.. I featured this book as Book of the Day on my social media platforms.
Morgan...I don’t like being in her mind. It feels risky and emotionally unsafe.
That aside, the book is well-written and will be a hit with lovers of the Ethic series.
Recommended for readers looking for the sweet spot between street lit and contemporary African-American fiction. It is just the right mix of hood, class, and all the drama in between.
Ashley Antoinette has once again taken real life situations & applied them to pages. As Messiah struggles to fight his demons to love himself, he must first realize he loved Morgan wrong, before he can actually expect her to forgive him. I love the way the author shows how the proper use of love can heal, Meek shows Morgan that love can heal & be patient & kind. The only issue I had is the prolonging of the character Bash, what is his true purpose & reason for being with Morgan, why does he continue to stay with her & the kids. He's been around for 2 years, however his relationship with the kids was not well developed like Meeks are the author hasn't gone in depth to reveal that side to us. Overall a great story & I enjoyed the life lessons that author throws in every now & then.
The book Butterfly 2 is the second novel in the series. The book continues to follow the life of Morgan Atkins which becomes more and more complicated. She begins to figure out who she should be with, but she is always faced with many roadblocks. Her heart tells her one thing, but her mind does not cooperate. She is not sure what she should do about Ahmeek Harris because she is constantly debating with giving her fiancé Bash a real chance. Butterfly 2 will make you laugh and cry all at the same time. This book will keep you captivated from the beginning to the end. The book ends in a manner that will have readers shocked and impatiently waiting for the next book. I highly recommend reading this book. I received this book for my honest review from Netgalley.
Like anyone else who’s a fan of the series, I was not-so-patiently waiting for the second book in the Butterfly series. While it may have frustrated me at turns, it surely did not disappoint.
Sometimes I have to suspend disbelief when I’m reading this series. To me, it simply is not plausible that a 19/20 year old would go through the things that Morgan and her friends do. So I have to push that out of my mind a bit when I read. However, once I do that, I’m able to really get into the series and hang on for all of its twists and turns.
Reading this book is like watching a movie. I find myself yelling aloud at some of the decisions I don’t agree with or that make no sense. I find find myself laughing aloud at other parts. I find myself swooning over some of the male leads, even though they are men I’d never choose in real life. But isn’t that what a good book is supposed to do? Take you away from where you are and transport you to where the action is taking place? Each of the books in this series has done that thus far. I’m looking very forward to the next trip.
Butterfly 2 is the highly anticipated follow-up to Butterfly ( spinoff of Moth to a Flame + The Ethic Series) by Ashley Antoinette. It picks up shortly after the events of book one. Morgan is a woman torn between two men. If that wasn’t hard enough…well, you’ll see. I could not get enough of Isa and Aria. They definitely cut through some of the tension that this book contained..
Ashley Antoinette has once again crafted an emotional story that will leave you on the edge of your seat the entire time while reading. I went into this book torn about who was right for Morgan… I closed the book with one name in mind . The pacing of this book was perfect. It didn’t feel rushed or slow paced. The characters were well developed. I loved seeing the characters from Ethic make appearances throughout the book, not to mention a blast from the past! I cannot wait to discuss this book in-depth. I cried, laughed, got angry, and more. It was definitely an unpredictable story and I cannot wait to read the third installment. The playlist Ashley provided fits perfectly with everything that happened within the pages of this book.
*I received an advanced digital copy of this book from NetGalley and St. Martin's in exchange for an honest review. *
At the beginning of the novel, the author provides a suggested playlist to enhance the reading experience and it does. The playlist is a mix of new and old school hip hop music. Like the playlist, the novel is a mix of old and new school. The new school elements of the story are the designer brands, character names and song choices. The story is old school in that it is story of complicated relationships and the fallout from those relationships.
Butterfly 2 is the second novel in the follow up series to the Ethic series by Antoinette. The book continues to follow the life of Morgan Atkins and her complicated romantic life. The complications extend into business and loyalty. The author writes to make you feel the conflict in each character. The reader will find themselves pulling for or disliking a character.
The novel ends in a manner that will have readers anticipating the next in the series.
Ashley Antoinette has blessed us with Butterfly 2! Due out in June, trust, she did not come to play with us this time around.
The quick rundown: Morgan is torn between two men: Bash, her fiance (she seems to forget this small detail lol), who is Mr. Boring and stifles her, and Meek, the man from her hometown who makes her feel alive and free. Problem is, they aren’t the only ones vying for Morgan’s love, as the one who gave Morgan butterflies has emerged from the shadows of death (I’m serious lol) and wants what’s his back.
You still with me? Ok, good.
Whew chile! Ashley brought it with this round of the Butterfly series. I was highly entertained and was left wanting more! The pace was steady and easy to read. The usual characters are back, including our forever boo, Ethic, and our girl, Aria. Listen, if my friends aren’t like Aria, I don’t want them. Spoiler alert, there will be a book 3, and I hope in this one we readers see a grownup Morgan. I love her but she needs to figure out who she is as a woman and a mom and make the right choices for her and her babies.
So I won’t spoil this for my fellow readers, I’m going to stop here and leave you with these words: If you liked book 1, you will love book 2. I know I do!
I was provided an advanced readers copy (ARC) from Netgalley to read and provide my honest review. A BIG thank you to the publisher, St. Martin’s Griffin (St. Martin’s Press) and Netgalley!
My heart 💔. I need more info on the brother of Messiah. Bash turned out to be a gangster of a different kind. Can’t use and not expect.... Meek Meek! 🥺 Dude can’t catch a break. Messiah is just one whole mess. Need to go back and learn about Epic and Alani WTH? Who wants them dead 💀. Kidnapping and shooting... who’s behind it? I have an idea.
I read this in one sitting. I couldn’t look away. A page-turner for sure. Ashley is a writing beast. While reading Butterfly 2 I see the growth from her earlier books. Her words just flow. I felt like I was watching an episode of a television series. I highly recommend if this is your type of reading. Even if it isn’t give it a go. There are graphic sex scenes and if that’s not your thing, you may want to skip those sections, but definitely not the story.
I was given this ARC from the publisher via Netgalley
At war with herself, Morgan Atkins knows she is playing with fire. However when your head and your heart don’t link up, what’s one to do. Still in love and lust with Ahmeek “Meekie” Harris, the forbidden one, she is now debating on giving her fiancé Bash a real chance. Little does any of them know what or who’s lurking in the shadows on a come up to win her heart.
Butterfly 2 is real, raw, and gritty. It is mixed with love and lust, betrayal and forgiveness, laughter and sadness, along with the drama we expect from an Ashley Antoinette read. This book is a certified page turner that any reader will enjoy. I can’t wait to read/hear other readers thoughts when this book releases in June 2020.
**I received this ARC from the publisher in return for an honest review**
This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster literally. I laughed and cried. I have come to love Messiah, Morgan and the crew from the Ethic series. In Butterfly we saw Mo try to move on from the pain and hurt of losing Messiah.
In Butterfly 2 we see Mo living her life and finally experiencing joy, love and happiness again. She has Ahmeek who adores her and her the twins. Their love story should never have happened. She was forbidden fruit. She has a fiance, Bash who provides stability for her and her children. She doesn't love him but his family is London royalty and can help secure Morgan's future.
Morgan's world is rocked when she finds out that Messiah is alive. Can she forgive him for leaving her?Messiah is back and ready to by any means necessary reclaim what is his. He assumes that it will be easy. He assumes that Bash will walk away. What will Messiah do when he finds out that he's no longer the M in M&M? His best friend has replaced him and may not bow out gracefully. How will he react to the news about his children? Will Morgan forgive Messiah and give up everything to be with her first love? I look forward to the next installment. Ashley Antoinette has definitely given fans her all in this one.

I loved every moment of this novel! Very well written, minimal errors, easy to follow storyline, and Ashley doesn’t overdo it with the amount of characters. It also takes a lot of sharp turns towards the end of the novel obviously building up to a third part. But I think it’s well worth the read. Just the way Ashley constructs her sentences and weaves words together is so beautiful and eloquent. Highly recommend!
Ashley Antoinette has done it again!
This is the second in the Butterfly series and picks up the story where the 1st book left off. Following the life of Morgan Atkins and the men that love her.
With the return of one character what does that mean for Morgan and her current love triangle? Will she sink back into her depressive state? Will she thrive and grow into the woman that we are getting glimpses of? I am not sure if this novel answers all of these questions without creating more for the reader but what it does it gives us an amazing story of growth of a young woman what has suffered continued turmoil in her life. It is a thrill ride as we approach the end of this one so buckle up for the journey.
I am a major fan of one of the guys vying for Morgan's love. So I going to be vague on purpose to avoid giving away too much of the story but baby Ahmeek Harris is THAT dude. Just call me Mrs. Harris and my actual husband is ok with this too, lol. Isa and Aria provide the lighthearted relief for the majority of the novel which was great. The continuation of their relationship development is nice to see from these "hard shelled" characters. Isa is a true “tell it like it is” friend and I love him for it! We need more Isa's of the world.
Bash is back and I was rooting for him at the end of book one because he was an innocent however now not so much.
Both Ethic, Alani, Bella, Easy and Henny make appearances. I am still in love with Ethic and Alani. They just got it right and I am so happy for them. Alani is a mama and that is just a joy to read.
I am a old school fan of Ashley Antoinette's writing and it just keeps getting better and better. There is a part three that is will be released later this year so this story will continue to develop.

OH MY GOD!!!! This book had me all up in my feelings. It was full of angst, suspense, surprises, laughs, steamy scenes and everything in between. Honestly, I feel there is no way for me to even justify how freaking fantastic and real this book is. I have to start by saying I love Ethic! I haven't read Ethic's story yet, so I feel like I'm still getting to know his wife Alani but I'm liking her a lot. Ethic keeps it real. I loved his relationship with Messiah and the tough and deadly love he shows him. Isa & Ali is a trip!!! I love them together because not only do you feel the love between them but it feels real and they are funny as hell. Isa is funny as hell! Now here is were I get to Mo, Bash, Meek and Messiah. Mo still carries hurt, pain, doubt and has insecurities due to her past but I will need baby girl to get herself together, like yesterday. There's no doubt who I want her with but it might just be wishful thinking on my part and I'll have to wait and see. However, I'm ready for her to be happy and do what's best for her and her twins. I hate Bash and his sad ass excuses, and his mom is no better. I wanted to throat punch him so many times. He really had me in my feelings. He needs to disappear Ethic style. Meek is the fantastic!!! I love him almost as much as I love Ethic, so he's definitely pulling some heart strings. This book will have you out here looking for a guy like Meek. I'm still trying to feel out Messiah. My head has him going in a different direction but you won't understand why I'm saying this until you read the story. My heart goes out to him but boy his secret had twisted. Don't sleep on this book!!! This author has a way of pulling you into the story and making you a part of the crew. That takes skills and I have to give credit where credit is do. Ashley Antoinette is AMAZING at what she does when it comes to writing. I can't wait for more. #ThisIsAMustRead #DontDropTheBall #SimplyAmazing
Ashley Antoinette did it again!
Picking up where book 1 dropped off, Butterfly 2 is a modern day romance full of love, pain, drama, passion. Laughter, hurt, love. The crew is all back and baby I'm here for it! With everything that goes on within these pages, the things that sticks out the most is the life lessons and the love, pure unadulterated love is what made my heart swell the most.
We all know our boy is back. But what does this mean? Is his return a good or bad thing? Will Mo tell him her secrets? Will he tell her his? What does this mean for Ahmeek and Bash??? If I am being completely honest, this book had me feeling ALL the emotions.
Isa is a damn fool but bruh is 10 goes down for the crew.
Aria is still a true blue friend. I love how her and Isa's relationship is developing and would love to see where they grow from here.
Bash... I can't give my true feelings for him without going into detail as to why, but I hate him with a passion.
Ethic is still the goat.
Alamo is still the mother hen. Still loving and nurturing her family.
Messiah... Baby boy got a lot of growing to do.
Ahmeek daddy is a whole vibe. I love him!
And the best for last... Morgan. She has grown so much but baby girl has a lot of finding of herself to do. I love her. I love the woman she has grown and is growing to be. But she has to learn to be free for herself and her babies first!
I'm excited to see others opinions on this one and for the next book to drop
