Molly's life is falling apart. She can't erase the tragedy of the past - not that her family would ever allow her to forget what happened, anyway. One night, in the middle of a storm, Molly disappears, with a note left to her family not to look for her.

Nicole feels terrible about the way she treated her mother the morning that she disappeared. Now, Nicole can't stop looking for Molly. She can't help thinking that her mother wouldn't just walk away... something just isn't right...

This book pulled me in and kept me engaged until the very last page. Some aspects of the story seemed a bit farfetched, but I enjoyed trying to figure out what really happened (and succeeding!) Molly and Nicole are both fighters and I enjoyed watching them push through to the end. This is the second Wendy Walker book I've read and it won't be the last!

Don’t Look For Me was a wholly atmospheric psychological thriller! The small and desolate town that this book is set in just reeks of despair and adds to the disturbing vibe. This book is creepy and I sat in suspense the entire time! I’m tired of the ‘unreliable female narrator with a drinking problem’ trope that is running wild in thrillers right now. I was nervous that we were headed in that direction when I started the book BUT- Wendy Walker dumped that cliche on its head. I sat riveted in suspicion of everyone until the shocking end. I never saw that twist coming! 4⭐️. My thanks to @stmartinspress for the advance reader in exchange for my honest review!

I found this to be an intense psychological read. This was a page turner, thrill ride till the last page. I was on the edge of my seat and didn't figure it out till the reveal.

I finished Don't Look for Me in just a few sittings but unfortunately I didn't love it as much as I'd hoped. I really enjoyed Walker's previous books Emma in the Night and The Night Before but this book fell flat for me. I can't totally put my finger on what was missing but I didn't feel super connected to the characters in the story and the whole creepy kid trope felt like something I'd read before. I also guessed most of the twists and things felt pretty unbelievable in the end. Overall I would recommend her previous releases over this one.

Did Molly really leave her family with no warning or is there a more nefarious explanation for her disappearance? In this unique and fast paced psychological thriller, the reader is tossed into a layered, deeper than average thriller that explores loss, its effects on family dynamics, and how our coping mechanisms can sometimes do us more harm than good.
In the first pages, we learn that Molly is blamed for the accidental death of her daughter, leaving her family tense and barely functioning years later. Her surviving daughter, Nicole, is grappling with own feelings of guilt and wondering, “what if?” as she tries to fill the hole her sister left behind. When her mother’s hotel room is found empty, with only a quickly scribbled note that reads, “Don’t look for me,” left behind as a clue, Nicole has to regain her inner strength when it becomes apparent no one else is taking her mother’s disappearance seriously.
Dark secrets in a small town, creepy kids, kidnapping, family drama, and brilliant character development all come into play during this spectacular novel. I never knew what would happen next, and even when I thought I’d guessed some of the twists, there was always more I didn’t see coming. Molly and Nicole are both gripping characters. Despite their very real flaws and their past mistakes, the reader still connects with them. The alternating POVs are equally engaging, aiding the book’s smoothly flowing plotline. Be prepared to be shocked, gasp out loud, and carve out an extra hour of reading time for this one.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a complimentary advance copy. This did not impact my review.

Molly Clarke has vanished. Did she really walk away from her family? Or did something else happen to her? A police led search has ended, but her daughter can't accept that her mother has left them. When she took it upon herself to return to the area where her mother was last seen she began to ask questions and the answers she got raised even more questions. Who was lying and who wasn't? Was her mother dead or alive?
The story branches off into many directions while slowly building creeping dread. The plotting is excellent and the narrative is tense. The flawed characters are a varied group and some are simply shocking. Toxic relationships are exposed.
I found this to be an absorbing, intriguing and chilling mystery. It is a fascinating portrayal of a family torn apart by a tragedy and what happened when one of them goes missing. Highly recommended.

Happy pub day to this SO GOOD thriller! I was lucky enough to get a copy via @netgalley - thanks @stmartinspress! - and then preordered this hard copy for the library ages ago. So fun it showed up today! Swipe for the synopsis.

I read this over the summer in one sitting. Seriously, plopped down in the pool with it on my kindle and didn’t move until I finished. I wasn’t so sure during the first couple chapters that set the stage, but holy forking shirtballs, after page 20 it just takes off and is a non-stop ride from that point on. I loved that as the reader, I knew more than the characters did, but I still didn’t know everything. The ending. 🤯🤯🤯 I thought I had it sorted. I did not.

This was my first book from @wendywalkerauthor and I am now obsessed. Which of her books should I grab next?? YOU should grab this one ASAP, and then buckle up for the twistiest thrilliest ride ever!

Rating: 5 thrilling stars!

Wowie, wow, wow! “Don’t Look For Me” turned out to be a great thriller. Wendy Walker’s latest book pushed all the right buttons for me. It was told in alternating POVs. It held my rapt attention all the way through. I loved it because it was a domestic drama on one level as we meet Molly Clarke and her family, and a thriller/suspense tale as we see how things unfold after Molly ‘disappears’.

Molly and her 21-year old daughter Nicole alternately narrate this story. Molly disappears one day, and the authorities think she left of her own volition. Nicole (nicknamed ‘Nic’) doesn’t believe that. She and her Mom may have had some issues, but she does not think that Molly would just walk away from her family. She goes back to the town where Molly was last seen. She intends to meet someone who might have a lead Molly’s last night.

From there, a list of suspects is developed. The list of valid suspects were just that, all valid. I kept bouncing around with who I thought was behind the mystery. The story was suspenseful without being graphically violent which I appreciated. I did not see the story wrapping up the way it did. That ending was fantastic! I love it when a book surprises me.

I would recommend this to readers who like a good Domestic Drama; a taut Suspense or Thriller; or just a wonderfully good story. This book may not be highbrow, but it was extremely entertaining. What are you waiting for? Go get this book!

Wow, this book had a lot in it. Molly Clarke hasn't quite recovered from a tragic incident 5 years earlier, so when she suddenly disappears they think she just wanted to start over. It happens enough so it must be what happened right?

However her daughter feels guilty for the things she said to her mother that day, and wonders if that was the final straw for her mother. She can't give up though, she wants to find her either way. This leads her to stay in Hastings while investigating what really happened, except everyone she talks to seem to be lying to her. Putting together the pieces are going to be that much harder.

I couldn't stop reading this, wanting to find out what happened. It jumps from the POV of Nicole the daughter, and Molly. It takes a lot of twists and turns and I wasn't expected some of it. A thrill ride worth taking!

This book was exactly what I needed right now - an engaging, entertaining, slightly unbelievable but compulsively readable story about someone whose life is careening off the tracks... it was Escapist fiction of the purest kind. The writing is easy to fall into. The characters are the best kind of hot mess. The drama is thick on the page, and the secrets and red herrings were layered and teased out with just the right amount of anticipation balanced with revelation... I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and will definitely look for more from Wendy Walker.

Molly is still grieving the loss of Annie, her nine year old daughter, from 5 years ago. The story is told in alternating POVs of Molly and her daughter Nicole. Molly disappeared coming home from her son’s football game and Nicole just can’t believe she walked away from her life, no matter how much she is still grieving. She goes to the town where they found her car to investigate. Will she find the answers she is looking for?

I haven’t read a Wendy Walker book before, but this one won’t be my last. If you like thrillers, you’ll like this book.

I have reviewed at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, KOBO, Walmart, Books a Million,, Target, Google books and Apple Books. I will come back and leave the links for Barnes and Noble and Amazon, once they are approved. The others I can't link to the reviews, but they are under Sherry R from Cincinnati, OH.

Spine tingling, suspenseful thriller is exactly what “Don’t Look For Me” is.
Wendy Walker has perfectly written for us a complex tangled web of dark secrets.
I was literally on the edge of my seat wondering what danger or lies were hiding behind the next page.
This novel was an action packed gripping thriller that you will not want to put down until you know the truth!!!

An interesting mystery.
Molly was consumed with guilt about her daughter's death.
It didn't seem too out of the ordinary that she would want to flee from her life and start over again somewhere else. Somewhere people didn't know what happened, somewhere no one knew her, she could reinvent herself. When her vehicle is found and Molly is nowhere to be found, that is exactly what the authorities believe happened. They do not suspect foul play. Two days later a note is found in a hotel room, it is a note to Molly's family telling them not to look for her.

I was glad that her husband offered a reward for information to help him find his wife. I liked that her daughter Nicole, went to investigate her mother's disappearance. I was shocked to find out what happened to Molly.

This is not a true mystery in the sense that part of the story is told from Molly's point of view. We know where she is and what is happening to her. I think this is maybe a thriller.

I won't spoil it for you with any more details. It is an interesting read, just not my cup of tea.

This is my second book by Wendy Walker and I am really loving her books. Don't Look For Me is such a different thriller for me. I mean I’ve read a fair share of thrillers but this one was truly unique, original and kept me guessing every second of the way. I didn't know where this book was going and I LOVED it! I loved everything about this book, the story, characters, setting, plot. I was captivated. It had a great pace and I loved how it went back and forth between Molly and Nichole (Nic), our two main characters who are also mother and daughter. If you go in blind, with an open mind and if you like thrillers, I think you’d like this book. It’s different and twisty and a great read for the spooky season! If you are looking for a book that keeps you on your toes and guessing the entire time, this is a great book to pick up.

A must read for any reader of thrillers who is looking for something different and new!!

Don’t Look for Me by Wendy Walker

352 Pages
Publisher: St. Martin’s Press
Release Date: September 15, 2020

General Fiction (Adult), Mystery & Thriller, Suspense

Molly Clarke is having a hard time with life. Five years ago, her youngest child was hit by a car and died. Molly was driving the car. Her family blames her, and no one can move on with life. She quit her teaching job because it is just too much for her.

Everything seems to have come to a head all at one time. Her husband, John, has distanced himself from her and doesn’t come home some nights. She knows he doesn’t love her anymore and is having an affair. Her young adult daughter, Nicole, defies her at every turn and told her she hates her. Her teenage son, Evan, is away at college four hours away but she still drives twice a month to watch him play sports. At the end of the game, he sees her and ignores her.

On her way home from her son’s game, she is stuck in a storm and runs out of gas within 3- feet from the station. The gas station is closed because of the storm and she doesn’t know what to do. She is stuck in the rain; her family doesn’t want her.

After a couple of days, a note is found at the inn near where her car was found. It tells her family not to look for her and they would be better off without her. The sheriff calls it a walk away.

The story is fast paced and takes place over the course of a few weeks. It is written in first person for Molly and third person for Nicole and the characters are well developed. I did not realize when I started reading the book that everything else would take a back seat to it. If you like mysteries, I know you will like this one. I look forward to reading more by this author.

Molly Clarke is married to John and mother to Evan, a student at a boarding school and terrific football player, and Nicole, 21. Her family was shattered 5 years ago when her daughter Annie, 9, was killed. She had run into the road in from of Molly’s car and she killed her. Grief has destroyed this family. Molly quit her job as a science teacher, Nicole quit school in her senior year and now just stays out all night drinking and hooking up with losers. John can’t be bothered to give her the time of day and ignores her. She knows he is having an affair. Molly faithfully drives to Evan’s football games - 4 hours each way - to watch him play ball. But he just ignores her presence.

Driving home from a game, Molly knows there is a hurricane coming and it was foolish of her to go to the game. She is running low on gas and plans to stop at the station up ahead, but her car runs out just before she gets there. She runs up to the station only to find it boarded up due to the storm. What does she do now? With her family’s disgust with her, why not just keep going?

Molly has now been missing for nearly two weeks. John has a large reward out for her return. Nothing has come from it as yet.

This story is so compelling. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. It’s scary to think that things like this actually happen and probably more often than we think. I still have creepy shivers going down my spine. Well done, Wendy Walker.

When Molly Clarke disappears, she hopes her family will come looking for her. Much to her dismay, the man who picked her up is now holding her prisoner and has made sure everyone else thinks she has simply walked away from her family. This was an intriguing story with lots of twists and turns. Each revelation kept me turning the page to see what I would learn next. Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martins Press for an advance copy to read and review.
