Exactly five years ago, a tragic accident took the life of Molly Clarke's youngest daughter Annie. Her family is still grieving from the loss and Molly is struggling with her own inner demons. She has driven four hours to watch her son Evan play in a football game at his boarding school. When she is halfway home, Molly runs out of gas on the outskirts of a nearby town, in the middle of a category four hurricane. When a kind stranger and his young daughter offer her a ride, Molly accepts and her life will never be the same. She disappears without a trace, leaving only a cryptic note at a nearby motel and her car abandoned on the side of the road. Has Molly purposely left her family in search of a new life, or is there more to the story? Her twenty-one daughter Nicole suspects foul play and begins a search for her mother. As Nicole’s search deepens, the more her own life is endangered. Readers will be mesmerized by this fast-paced thriller and will want to follow-up by binge-reading all of Wendy Walker’s previous books.

Ok, this book had me at page three. The entire story line, character, & plot was amazing. It will keep you guessing right up until the author decides to tell you. You don't even know what exactly happens to Molly Clarke until the author tells you. You can guess and my guess was close but I still failed to see who the bad guy was. The author was amazing at pointing the finger at everyone but the actual bad guy. You fall in love with Alice and you hate her at the same time. If you like mysteries then this is one to read.

Tragedy, accident and recriminations tear a family apart. So when Molly disappears, it seems as if this would not be unexpected. But niggling doubts and things that don't add up suggest something else. But what, and who?

As the daughter probes, it becomes clear that she didn't just leave and there are others are involved. Then it is a rescue effort and all the comes from that.
This is a good mystery and an enjoyable read- lots of drama, and a nice resolution.

Molly Clarke is a mother. She lost her daughter five years ago. She get stranded in the middle of a massive storm. All that her family finds is her car on the side of the road, out of gas, with her phone inside. When a note is found at a hotel nearby, police assume shes just walked away. But her daughter doesn't feel that her mother would do that. So shes back in the small town of Hastings, the place her mothers car was found. Did her mother walk away, or did something worse happen to her?

I loved this story. It starts out, immediately catching you attention. The further you get into the story, the more you want to keep reading, and know what is going on. The characters, all well written, and very interesting. I realy enjoyed how this story was told, in the point of view of two of the characters, and in different points in time in the story, until they meet up with each other. It definitely was a good way to keep you guessing. I am usually pretty good at guessing how a book is going to go, but that was not the case with this one. kept me guessing until the end. I definitely recommend this story, if you love a good mystery.

A psychological thriller at its finest, but oh so much more! This story has it all. A grieving mother, a family torn apart, a shaky relationship with her teenage daughter and a strained marriage. When she goes missing after she runs out of gas, everyone thinks she just walked away. Nope, that didn’t happen. I really loved this book and read it straight through.

Families always have drama going on, but this one has a bit more than average. Nonetheless, crazy things continue to happen. Molly, the mother, goes missing on the anniversary of the death of your youngest daughter. The big question is, what happened to her? Her daughter Nicole sets out to find her. Huge surprise down the road that any thriller lover will appreciate.

I like the writing of this book. Recently, I feel like I have read books with no emotion popping off the page. This one was different. You could feel the fear, guilt, and more from the words. I also really enjoyed the jumping perspective that helped the reader see more of what was going on, yet still kept you guessing!

Just to add to it, I thought the cover was drawing and was the reason I had chosen this book in the first place!

What a great book! This book was well written with just enough suspsense to keep you guessing. I found myself while reading making predictions and most of the time they were wrong. You will fall in love with the characters alll the while understanding their grief and what they are going through.

Following a family tragedy, Molly’s life seems to be falling apart and is heading in a downwards spiral. So disappearing during a storm might be the perfect time to walk away from her life. After her car and a note are found, her daughter is determined to keep looking for her. Did Molly really just up and leave her life, or did she encounter an unexpected fate on that stormy night?

I enjoyed the quick pace and twists of this one! I love when a book keeps you reading because you aren’t quite sure of the characters’s intentions. That suspense that carries you until the very end is 🙌 in my opinion! How about you? Do you like a book that wraps up in the last few pages?

Molly Clarke is a missing mom. Her youngest daughter died in a car accident with Molly behind the wheel. Her remaining children no longer want anything to do with her, and her husband appears to be having an affair. So no one is really surprised when she disappears on a stormy, snowy night. But then her car is found abandoned, and a note appears that seems to be from her asking them not to look for her. And daughter Nicole decides to look a little further. This a true psychological thriller, with the whole gamut of missing women, creepy men and a story that will keep you on edge till the very end. Thank you to #NetGalley for the ARC of this novel!

This thriller kept me riveted. Molly has had a miserable home life since the death of her younger daughter a few years earlier, but she tries to support her son and older daughter as much as she can, even while dealing with her own depression and struggling marriage. One rainy evening, passing through a small town on the way home from her son's football game, she goes missing. The police declare her a runaway, but her daughter Nic finds that hard to believe. The reader knows what has really happened to Molly, but must follow along with Nic to search for clues for what secrets are being kept in the town where Molly went missing. The alternating points of view from mother to daughter keep the suspense high.

I've been on a good psychological thriller kick of late and I hope it doesn't let up.
Don't Look for Me was the second Wendy Walker book I've read and she continuously impresses me with her stories, the originality of them and the way her characters show growth, strength and true grit. This book will leave you turning those pages and you won't be able to turn them fast enough.

With Don't Look for Me, you almost get two books in one. You get two POVs. One from Nicole (the daughter) and one from Molly (the mom). These characters are living a life they never thought they would live because of a major tragic event that happened to their family. Because of that event, Molly has been just coasting along in life, knowing that her family blames her for everything and she is determined to love her family through it all. No matter how rough it is for each of them. SO, when her love is not reciprocated, it doesn't seem unlikely that she may have just "ran away" from it all and cut ties to her family. But is it that easy? Or is there more lurking around the corner?

Wendy Walker takes us on a scary, yet emotional journey. She asks us questions of what we would do in these characters' situations and she isn't afraid to go there. She takes a daughter that has basically thrown her life away and puts her in a small town, looking for her mother and not taking no for an answer. She takes a mother and puts her in a very precarious situation and gives her every reason to give up. But she makes these women fighters and that's what I enjoyed most. Even when they are tricked by people they would never expect, Nic and Molly never give up. Because it's about love and life and fighting to get to truth and family.

This was a disturbing book that was a true page turner. I was expecting the unexpected, but was still surprised by some jaw dropping twists that were thrown in there at the end. The women were my favorite part of the book and the way they navigated their situations was remarkable. I love a good suspense and I love characters that are smarter than we give them credit for.

If you're looking for a book that is complex and heavy on suspense and twists and turns, don't shy away from this one. It's creepy and utterly addictive until the very last page.

Molly disappears while driving home in the middle of a horrible storm. Searchers hunt for her for four days, until a note shows up "Don't look for me."
Good characterization of Molly and the family she leaves behind. The story is a bit too long because there are so many suspects. There were some questions I had while reading, but the clarification wasn't forthcoming.

Fast-paced and engrossing thriller! This one had me on the edge of my seat and I couldn't put the book down. I chose this book because I had enjoyed Walker's 'Emma In the Night' and wanted to read more by the author. This book is even better! Great plot and it took awhile for me to figure out the bad guy as there were some red herrings that kept me guessing. There were some real surprises here too.

There's enough descriptive information given on the characters to pull you in so you can understand their feelings and motivations. Parts of the book reminded me some of 'Room' by Emma Donoghue. My favorite character was Nicole - because of her determination in her search and courage to deal with her issues with her sister's death.

Thanks to St. Martin's Press through Netgalley for an advance copy.

Molly Clarke has disappeared after leaving her sons sports game. Her car is found abandoned with her cell phone and everyone has presumed she has walked away from her life and her family. But what really happened to Molly Clarke?

I loved that we got alternating points of view from Molly and her daughter, Nicole. We get both sides of their dysfunctional family, and we hear how each one reacts to a simply devastating accident that’s cost them their youngest daughter and youngest sister, respectively.

Nicole is a spit fire, and Molly is a tentative yet caring mother. You see both of these women change quite a bit throughout the story as they each come across new challenges to recover something they have lost.

I really loved how this kept me guessing. I got to the halfway mark, and I could not stop flipping pages until I knew how everything tied together and what REALLY happened to Molly, Nicole, and others. Phenomenal layering of secrets, strong women, and the power behind a child’s love for their parent and craving of acceptance.

Highly recommend. Be sure to look out for this one September 2020. I also recommend Emma in the Night by this same author!

Sometimes it takes almost losing someone to appreciate how much you love that person. At least that is what happens when Molly goes missing.

Molly was a happy wife and mother to her 3 kids - until in a shocking, horrible turn of events she kills her youngest in a terrible accident. Not only is she barely able to live with her own guilt, but her husband and children cannot seem to live with her, either. Her husband spends nights away from home and largely ignores her, her son is embarrassed by her and her daughter, NIcole - who feels partially responsible for the accident - is combative while throwing her own life away.

But when Molly goes missing one dark and stormy night, it is Nicole who returns to the sleepy rural town where her mother disappeared to find answers.

I really enjoyed the first half of this book - the character study, the family dynamics, the mystery of who took Molly and why. Unfortunately, the second half of the book unraveled for me. The whodunit seemed forced, the police work shoddy even for a small town, many of the events completely unrealistic. I would love to see a slower, even less twisty build to the inevitable conclusion.

Thank you Netgalley for this preview!

Wow. Wendy has got herself another awesome thriller.

In “Don’t Look For Me” we alternate between Molly Clarke who has recently gone missing and her daughter Nicole who is searching for her.

I really enjoy the multiple perspective thriller aspect and Wendy does a fantastic job with it. The pacing was perfect. Not too slow and too quick.

I do have a couple issues. They were minor, but it’s what kept it from being a 5 for me. First was that I feel the only characters that were super fleshed out in a way that made me care about them were Alice, nic and molly. I don’t know if that was Wendy’s intent, but when it comes to a whodunit and you have all these people it could be, it’s not as impactful if the person who did it was someone I don’t really care about. With that said my biggest complaint was the final twist. The one I can’t even mention who it’s about without spoiling a big shock. It just felt so unnecessary. And the resolution with that twist at the end, just added to the unnecessary-ness. When it was revealed I know I was supposed to be shocked but instead I was just like “ugh why” it was seriously a 5 star book before then. I know I’m probably going to be the only person who thinks that. I just can’t get over how flat that part fell for me. It made the rest anti climactic.

Over all though, this was a solid thriller that kept me guessing. Wendy is a fantastic author.

Thank you netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this.

If you're looking for a thriller for your beach bag this summer, DON"T LOOK FOR ME would be a solid choice. This is not a slow moving literary mystery. It's a fast paced thriller -- more focused on the plot than on character development. Personally, I prefer a more intellectual, moody mystery. But I don't think that was Walker's intent here. This story moves at a good clip and I enjoyed how the author switches perspectives between the mother and daughter. It seems like a good way to keep the reader interested. The ending is very satisfying.
