Molly is out of gas. And due to the impending hurricane, the gas station has closed up shop. There is nowhere for Molly to go, but at the same time, would anyone really care if she never came home? The police have decided she left on her own accord. She doesn’t want to be found. But her daughter Nic isn’t so sure, and feels an obligation to find her especially after the awful last words she had spoken to her mother.

Wendy Walker is my Jam. That is all. Seriously though, Wendy Walker writes a damn good book and this one was no exception. I flew through this because I needed to know what the story was here. I was pretty sure I had it figured out (I was wrong, but only partly.) This had all the things I love in a thriller, but also had some family drama which really added to the story. The characters were so well done, realistic, and had very normal responses to the trauma they had faced. That said, I just wanted to cry for Molly and tell her it wasn’t her fault. I don’t want to say too much about Alice because I don’t want to give spoilers, but man that poor little girl. If you have loved Walkers other books, or even if you haven’t read them yet, you need to pick this one up!

Thank you to @stmartinspress for my gifted copy of this book!

Unique premise and well-drawn characters, with plenty of "left turns" along the way to keep the reader intrigued. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and would recommend it to all readers searching for top-rate writing. Perfect summer read!

WOW! What a good book. I had not read any Wendy Walkers before but that is about to change quickly. Net Galley gave me an advanced copy so that i would give them an honest review. Molly supports her children, she drives to soccer, and school plays, She’s a good mum until she accidentally kills her youngest child. Life is not the same, how could it be ever? Until one, rainy night, Molly walks away from her life. But what about the guy in the pickup truck who gave her a ride? And why is thee a 9 yo named Alice riding along with him when the weather is so rotten? Why did Molly’s family quit looking? Truly a page turner. Read this in one go, just make sure you can sleep in the next day. I think this would be a perfect book for book clubs focusing in on mother/daughter relationships and guilt,

Unpredictable! Riveting! Shuddersome!

This has definitely become my favorite Wendy Walker novel! You know the saying, "You don't know what you've got until it's gone"? Well in Wendy Walker's latest novel Don't Look for Me we see this lesson all too well.

Molly Clarke and her family have suffered a terrible loss. Molly is responsible for her youngest daughter's death, and everyone is struggling to move forward. While it was a tragic accident, Molly blames herself, her oldest daughter Nicole feels just as much guilt from not preventing the accident. Nicole, being the oldest was responsible for watching her siblings that day, and if only she had stopped Annie from running out into that road. Nicole's guilt has not only caused her to spiral out of control, but she can't help but push her mother further and further away.

When Molly is making the trip back home from watching her son's college football game, she runs out of gas in the middle of a storm. She finds the closest gas station is boarded up for the night. Molly begins to contemplate her options, feeling discouraged and alone in life, she takes off walking. It's not long before someone offers to help by giving Molly a ride into town. Molly has no idea that this simple act of kindness will turn into the worst kind of nightmare.

When Molly doesn't come home after Evan's football game, and days go by, a search is underway in the small town of Hastings where she was last seen by a passing motorist and her car was found. When two weeks pass, and there is still no sign of Molly, Nicole sets out for the town of Hastings to do a little investigating of her own. As Nicole starts to understand the last actions of her mother before she went missing, and more about the town's locals, she fears the worst, that her mother never left this town. If she's still there, then where is she?

Gosh... I mean... how do you hold back with a novel like this? There's just so much I want to tell you all, but I won't, I've said too much... really. Let's just say that Wendy put the PSYCHO in psychological thriller with this one. Okay, that's it... I won't say anymore. Just add it to your TBR already, better yet, add it to your shopping cart! Pre-order today! Available in stores on September 15, 2020!

I want to thank NetGalley, St. Martin's Press, and Wendy Walker for allowing me the opportunity to read this novel in exchange for my review.

I received this book free of charge from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

I have not read any of Wendy Walker's books before. That will change. This one had me guessing right up until the end.

On a dark and stormy night, Molly runs out of gas in a small town. She tried to walk back to a gas station that is closed. She is picked up by a man and a young girl. What happens next.. whoa.

Nicole is Molly's daughter is convinced that her mom didn't just walk away from her life. Even if there was a note saying that they shouldn't look for her.

The story goes back and forth between Molly and Nicole. It works well. It kept me guessing on where it was going.

This story will not disappoint.

Wow...the pacing of this thriller was excellent. Each set of chapters built to the next, creating suspense throughout.. Ms. Walker has definitely created a page-turner with complex characters. Ending could have been tightened somewhat with more than necessary characters getting into the act. But overall, this definitely qualified as best-seller quality. Will look forward to more books from her in the future. A superb story teller.

I loved this book! Read it in one sitting, not on a weekend, so was very determined to finish. Have read books by Walker in the past and loved them as well so I wasn't surprised. The twists were great and Walker did a great job of making you suspect so many characters at different points in time,

A perfectly satisfying thriller/ mystery. It started a little slow for me, but then things started happening, pages started turning faster and it was a race to find out what happened next! Interesting development of some characters. Ended with a bang! Totally enjoyable

I'm not going to review this book. I thought the storytelling was distracting -- both forwards and backwards and from differing points of view. I usually like Ms. Walker's novels - this one just didn't make it easy for me to get lost reading a book... Thank you for the opportunity to review this.

This book captured my attention within the first page. I love the way it kept you guessing until the end, which was surprising. Great book, I will recommend our library purchasing it.

The plot arc for the first half of this novel covers old ground: a woman is reported missing and you find out she has been abducted by a serial psychopath. The only mystery is who he is. The backstory is that several years ago, the woman killed her youngest daughter in a freak car accident. The resulting emotional toll on the rest of her family are explored, some satisfying and some frustrating. Overall, I really liked this book because it dives in deeper than most mysteries and wraps up most of the loose ends.

This is my first Wendy Walker book but it won’t be my last. Great character development and a solid plot. This is a story about love, and family, and what it means to be a mom. It is full of suspense, with a few predictable outcomes, and enough surprises to keep you interested and guessing. The chapters alternate between the voices and perspectives of Molly (mom) and her young adult daughter, Nicole. Molly goes missing and a note surfaces with Molly’s belongings that simply says, “Don’t look for me.” Authorities and family members assume Molly, consumed with grief and guilt over the tragic loss of her youngest daughter, has walked away from her family. Nicole is dealing with her own grief and guilt over her sister’s death, and she is determined to find her mother dead or alive. She returns to the town where her mother disappeared and begins her own investigation. She uncovers lies and inconsistencies and doesn’t know who she can trust. Nicole learns about another young woman who disappeared from the same town several years back. Secrets are revealed, lies are discovered, and no one can be trusted. As a reader, you will suspect everyone and you won’t be sure of anything until the final chapters. This is just the type of writing you want when you pick up a psychological thriller. It is well worth your time, and I highly recommend it. Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the advanced copy.

Molly Clarke is the mother of three. She'll always say she has three children, she doesn't mention the fact that only two of them are still alive. Her life forever changed when she accidentally caused the death of her youngest child. When Molly's car is found on the side of the road and a note explaining her disappearance is found shortly thereafter, not many people question her intentions. Everyone thinks that she ran away to start a new life because the one she was leaving behind was too painful. Everyone thinks that, except her daughter Nicole. Nicole returns to the town where her mom was last seen after receiving a phone call from a woman claiming to have some information about the night her mom went missing. Nicole soon finds out that she doesn't know who she can trust and her life may be in danger.

This story was 4 starts for the first half. It was told in alternating chapters from Day 1 of when Molly went missing and 2 weeks later. The storyline was creepy and I couldn't put the book down. Once the days caught up to each other it started to slow down a bit for me. I still found it interesting, but some of the chapters from Molly's point of view became a little monotonous. There were still some twists I didn't see coming and it kept me guessing.

Have you ever read a book that grabs you from the start and manages to tighten its grip until the very end? This is exactly how I felt about Wendy Walker’s Don’t Look For Me.

What starts with a heartbreaking family backstory, it quickly turns into a mystery that will leave you guessing at ever turn. I appreciated the dual narrative and how I was never quite sure what was going to happen.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy, and best of luck to the author!

Wendy Walker spins a tale like no other I have read in "Don't Look for Me". The book will catch you up in the heartache of a woman who has accidentally been responsible for her own child's death. She is such a devastated mother that she is unable to console her other grieving daughter, son, and husband. The guilt she feels is complete and numbing. On a rainy night she disappears, out of gas, leaving her car and her cell phone to be found later. In a motel in a nearby town a note and her clothes are found. Her family again shocked and saddened search for her to no avail. A phone call to the daughter is the last clue and daughter Nic pursues it. That is when the thrill ride begins. The novel has more twists and turns than a mountain road. Molly has disappeared but was it by her own hand or another? What about Alice? Will she be able to help Molly our heroine escape the sorrows of the past and her own prison of sadness? The end surprised me. The good guys and bad guys were hard to determine from the personality and action turns. This book kept me entertained and it was definitely one I could not put down. Well written suspense.
Thanks #NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. #NetGalley#Don't Look for Me#

Wendy Walker does a great job of pulling you into the story of mother and daughter, their grief, and their journey to forgive themselves. It's a must read for all mystery lovers as it keeps you guessing until the very end. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of Walker's books as this was the first one I've read.

Many (if not all) of the early reviews for this one are so positive, this might be a minority opinion. While I found the book entertaining, it was not as thrilling or suspenseful as I would have liked. The twist seemed fairly obvious to me and I had a tough time emotionally connecting to the characters. I would still say give this one a try because many, many others have loved it!

Thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

A unfathomably tragic accident, a daughter dead, a family in agony and falling apart from despair and guilt. And then, a monster comes skulking into their lives, ripping them further apart, or is it a cabal, or a conspiracy of either omission or commission? The answers peak out at us throughout the story but keep us in the throes of uncertainty and doubt until the very end when tragedy and heartache bud into healing and hope and the promise of an imminent full bloom. A good story. Not a 'great" read, but a good one.

This book started out slowly and I didn't know if I was going to like it. Could have been that I was reading it before bed and would tire out quickly, because once I got into it I couldn't put it down. So many unreliable characters that you don't know what really is going on until you get closer to the end. Loved the suspense that it built. This was my first Wendy Walker book but I will definitely read her again.
