What a rollercoaster ride of twists and turns!!!

This is filled with mystery and suspense as the past and present intertwine to bring two women to this crucible that has become their life. Each woman has her own issues and despite some of their choices, I empathized with them both. Both of their resolves to move forward was inspiring and had my heart yearning for an ending that would bring them peace.

I won’t go into the plot as this story could be easily spoiled in doing so. I will say that it has moments of dark intensity so extreme I found myself holding my breath. It also slowly unravels to the point that I could not set this book aside for a moment as each revelation captured even more of my attention.

This is very well written with a great pace and characters that you either love, hate, trust or mistrust along the way. Good luck not being surprised!

Wow! I couldn't put this book down. Thought I had it figured out early on in the book, with lots of supporting evidence throughout the book. Was shocked when figured out who actually did it later in the book., Was again shocked by the back story & why.

Will leave 5 star review on Amazon under name of Connie
Thanks for granting me access to this book

This book was AMAZING! I was hooked from the first page till the end. It was family drama mixed with thriller- what a mix!

Reading this was almost too much. I was nervous during a lot of it “omigosh! What is going to happen!” And then just flew right through it.

My favorite Wendy Walker book yet!

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and do an honest review of Don't Look for Me.
This was quite the ride. A great thriller that left you guessing and out of breath.
Nothing say creepy like the little town in the middle of no where where Molly disappears on her way home. She is on the way back from an unpleasant visit with her son at boarding school when she runs out of gas in the middle of a storm. While she is picked up and is taken in by a stranger and his daughter, things turn ugly.
Nicole, Molly's daughter, goes to the place her mothers car was last seen and tries to located her mother.
Clues come from every direction, but who can she trust? A kind stranger holds the truth, but has his his own plans.
This is a page turner and will keep you up at night wanting to finish. But take your time, you wont want to miss a clue

Great, fast-moving read! Molly, Nicole, and Alice are the survivors and the stars. Well written, sophisticated and challenging plot - no waste of words, action, or time. Difficult to put down - look forward to more from this author.

This is one of best books I’ve read in a long time. Lots of little twists and turns to keep you guessing until the “very end”. This is my first book by this author so will be looking to read previous books soon

I was a big fan of the author’s “Emma in the Night” and was tempted to request this one, but kept waffling on it. Then, I received an email, offering it as a “Read Now,” so I thought I’d give it a try. As soon as I started reading it I knew I had made a mistake. I simply did not connect with this book at all.. If I had known what the family tragedy was and that the main character was responsible, I would not have requested this book. Unfortunately, there was nothing about the story that appealed to me and I was extremely put off by the whole thing.

My copy of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. My thanks to the the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review it.

Holy moly! What a story! This is the first book I have read by Wendy Walker called Don't Look For Me. I cannot believe I have not read any of her books before. Plot twist, unpredictable situations, and no fingernails. That's right, no fingernails. I bit them all to the nub as I was reading this book. Just when you think you know what's going on you realize you have no clue. I actually went back a couple of times and reread a few pages to make sure that I hadn't gotten lost in the plot. This is the story of a family that has been broken apart by tragedy. When recovery seems impossible, a decision is made by the mother that changes life for everyone. But definitely not for the better. I can see this book being made into a movie. No exaggeration! The storytelling is vivid, the characters jump right off the page. I've said before that when a book is good, in my opinion, I don't see words, Instead, I see pictures. Don't Look For Me was actually like watching a movie. I could see the characters as they moved through the book and feel the emotions that they went through. Wendy Walker is truly a gifted author. I highly recommend this book. But only if you have time to finish it when you start reading it because you will not be able to put it down.

This book is a gift for readers who long for a suspenseful page turner. I can’t recall another book that has led me down such a shivering path full of delicious internal screaming because of the build up of adrenaline and a psychologically horrifying, yet perfect reveal.

I loved this book! I do not want to reveal any more of this plot than is already on the cover and book blurb. I was hoping this would be a good thriller, and it grabbed ahold of me and led me on a roller coaster of psychological suspense and thrills. The author brilliantly tells this story through alternating points of view between the main character and her daughter. I am not exaggerating when I say that sometimes I would have to close the book for a couple of seconds to soak in a reveal. This was a great escape and I truly couldn’t rest until I found out what was actually going on and who was behind it all.

This is the first book I've read by Wendy Walker and I really enjoyed it. It's fast paced, and it kept me reading,

Molly Clarke is a mother of 3 who is still reeling from the death of her youngest daughter nearly 5 years later. She runs out of gas during a hurricane and is picked up by a man and his daughter. She thinks he is going to help her but she quickly realizes he has more sinister reasons for picking her up. Meanwhile the police write off her disappearance as a 'walk away'--when someone just walks away from his or her life. Her living daughter Nicole, also still very fragile due to their earlier tragedy, doesn't truly believe Molly would walk away from her life and she is determined to find her.

The alternating chapters hooked me. Unfortunately some of the characters missed the mark for me though -- They could have been more fleshed out. I wish we knew more about Molly's husband. And the little girl Alice, who was with Molly in captivity, was way more childish than a real 9 year old would be. (I have a 9 year old and she rarely plays with dolls anymore and she can make soup on her own.) And, even though I figured out who the "bad guy" was pretty quickly I still wanted to see how it was all tied together, and it was a satisfying ending.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this captivating book. I loved Walker's previous book "Emma in the Night" so I was excited to read this one. It did not disappoint! Molly does an unspeakable thing that breaks apart her family and then one stormy night she disappears. You will not believe what comes next! Definitely recommend.

A new Wendy Walker book! Yeeeeees! I am obviously biased since I knew that I would at least "like" this one. "Don't Look For Me" exceeded my expectations and is one of the best 'suspense/thriller' reads I've read in awhile.

I have read so many books about missing children that I have started avoiding that particular plot point. This one is different! A missing mom!

People don't really blame Molly Clarke for disappearing- a few years back, she accidentally ran over her daughter in the driveway and killed her. Molly Clarke has been a shell of a person ever since, so when her car is found abandoned after a storm, an obligatory search is made without much expectation of success. When she doesn't turn up, life moves on. But it doesn't for Nicole-- Molly's eldest child is determined to find her mom, dead or alive. Told from the points of view of both mom and child, it's really great to see how Walker makes the character's timelines and stories weave together.

There are a lot of (mostly believable) twists that make this such a fun book. I could often see where the author was trying to lead her readers astray, and I happily went with it. I am definitely a Wendy Walker fan and am really impressed at her consistent storytelling skills.

Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for an advanced reader's copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

It was a dark and stormy night…but wait, some background. A family has experienced an extremely traumatic incident that has deeply affected Molly Clarke, her (just barely) adult daughter Nicole, son Evan, and forgot-his-name-husband. It’s gotten so bad Nicole has told Molly she hates her, Evan refused to acknowledge Molly’s presence at his school’s football game (after she drove several hours to be there, as she always does), and the forgettable husband has become distant and seems to no longer love her…so, on that dark and stormy night, driving home from the football game, Molly’s car runs out of gas and she vanishes.

That’s the premise of Wendy Walker’s Don’t Look For Me, provided by St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley in exchange for this honest review. Molly’s car is found by the side of the road, with her cell phone inside. Several days later, her credit card is used at a hotel where a note is found, allegedly written by her, telling everyone not to look for her, and implying that she went off on her own…a “walkaway.” TBH, it reminded me of the story of Maura Murray, a young woman whose car was found and who just disappeared (with no trace, now immortalized in a gazillion podcasts). There are lots of questions about the trauma the family has suffered, and whether their relationships can overcome that as well as Molly’s disappearance…and how will she get back to safety? and what will be the family’s reaction to her disappearance?

The story is told from the alternating points of view of Molly and Nicole, and there are several twists and turns throughout, with creepy vibes about the town, multiple suspects, and probably several clues to the identity of the villain (although, as is typical, I did not figure it out before the ending, even being fairly certain that a different person was the villain). Clever plotting, good development of suspense, and well written overall. Five stars for the woman-in-danger-psychological-thriller genre.

Closer to 2.5 stars. A fast-paced read, well-suited to reading in one sitting.

Molly and John are parents to Nicole (21), Ryan (16?), and Annie (deceased). The audience learns pretty quickly that Annie died after being hit by a car driven by her own mother. That terrible accident leads to a kidnapping that happens 5 years later.

Molly has been taken from a small town in CT called Hastings. Her captor takes her to be a mother to his daughter, Alice. He leaves behind a note supposedly written by Molly stating that she just wanted to walk away and leave everyone be.

Nicole has been rotten to her mother since her sister’s death. However, her guilt drives her to search for her mom in the small town where she disappeared. Here she encounters several men who could be her mother’s captor. Will she be able to rescue her mother before the inevitable happens?

It was a satisfyingly uncomfortable book for those who like to be kept on edge. However, the twist and the captor were pretty easy to figure out.

This psychological thriller has all the makings of a best-seller. Heartache and heartbreak leads a mother, Molly Clarke, to doubt whether her family really needs her. The loss of her youngest child, and her two older children seemingly pulling away from her, her husband's disinterest.....would they miss her if she was gone? Are they better off without her? These thoughts are rolling through her brain as she walks away from her disabled car during a violent storm. The man and child that pick her up seem harmless enough......but never get in cars with strangers! And this begins Molly's journey into the unknown where she discovers strength she thought she had lost and emotions that she cannot trust. Meanwhile her daughter Nicole cannot believe her mother would just leave them. and she refuses to believe she may be dead. Her own self-discovery makes her set out on her own to find out what really happened to her mother. Her own "snoopmanship" brings her close to her own danger and into a web of deceit that has been woven around a child. The peripheral characters of the story all add to it in their own ways. The twists and turns in this book lead to discoveries, drama and violence before an ending that is unpredictable. I received and ARC of this book in return for an honest review, which this has been. #NetGalley #Don'tLookForMe

The Clarke family is overwhelmed by grief, initiated by the accidental death of their youngest child.
Molly is at the center of a family that can't get out of their past; can't live in the present, can't build a future.

"Molly Clarke reminded her husband of his dead child. Molly Clarke reminded Nic of the way Annie died, and the role she'd played in the series of events that led to her death. And wrapped up the horrible memories of that horrible day were the sweet memories of sweet moments, and there was no way to untangle them."

Counselling has helped but the family can't move forward. Molly lives her life in a trance.
Her eldest daughter Nicole rebels, placing blame on her mother and herself.
Her middle son Evan tries to distance himself from her as he enters adolescence.
Her husband John chooses grief of loss over the love of his wife.
And beautiful Annie haunts always with happy remembrance and utter despair.

Molly tries to compensate for loss, making an effort to be attentive to her children,
but every action she takes seems to result in further rejection, and a feeling that everything is coming apart.

She takes a cross-state drive to attend to her son's school football game, but he doesn't want her there.
Feeling rejected again, she takes her long drive home. She's not deterred by warnings of a coming tornado,
runs out of gas, then starts to walk to the nearest town.

She walks in torrential rain and wind, until she's offered a ride.
A ride that she shouldn't have taken.

On the surface, it looks like Molly has finally run away; away from her life, her dysfunctional family.
After only three days of searching, the police give up the search.

Molly is now a prisoner, confined to a room.

This is a story of this family's search for their mother.
This a story of never giving up.
This is a story about a family healing old wounds.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I'm a fan of good character development, and this certainly has it.
The reading style is easy to read, the intrigue and story-line is great.

Thank you to Wendy Walker, St. Martin's Press, and Net Galley, for the opportunity to provide this unbiased review.

The death of a child is a tragedy a parent should never have to experience. What if the death was the parents fault? Molly was a successful woman with three children and a husband. One day a terrible accident left her child Annie dead. Molly was responsible. It was an accident but Molly felt devastated and full of guilt. She felt so disconnected from her family even five years after Annie’s death. The whole family was still grieving. Molly made a decision on a dark stormy night when driving home from her sons football game. The decision she makes has chilling consequences. What a great story. A few twists that will have you on edge trying to untangle truth from lies.

This book! Yes this book! This has to be one of the best psychological thrillers I have read in 2020! This storyline had me on edge and guessing every minute! Did Molly Clarke walk away? This book is so deliciously thrilling that I didn't want it to end! If I could give this book a thousand stars, I would. It is simply that good!!!!

Molly feels guilty after a terrible accident. Her children hate her and she thinks her husband is having an affair. So one night, when her car runs out of gas, she begins walking away from her life. This novel is slow and steady but builds up to an intense resolution. I appreciate the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to be an early reader.
