Doesn’t the title make you want to read it ASAP?! That’s how I felt and am so glad I was able to read it. Wendy Walker did a wonderful job writing this and the characters were phenomenal!
This was SOOOO close to a 5-star for me...seriously the only thing that took the tiniest quarter of a star away was the reveal of a certain thing at a certain location at the climax of the story (it was something that came out of nowhere and didn't feel properly set up - unless I skipped a few chapters and missed it!). Honestly, until then it was like a runaway (no pun intended) freight train. Wendy Walker is a master at pacing and plotting. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys thriller authors like Ruth Ware and Megan Miranda.
Thanks to Netgalley for the arc to review.
thank you @stmartinspress and @netgalley for sending me this digital ARC of DON'T LOOK FOR ME by wendy walker.
when molly goes missing, her family isn't sure if she left willingly (for the record, if i leave a note saying 'Don't look for me' there's a good chance i'm just being dramatic and you better get to searching) + the creepy, cagey small town adds to the suspense + unsettling & compulsively readable

"I feel the weight of my guilt like a rock I hold above my head. How I fight to keep it from falling. I think now that maybe it's time. Maybe I can just let it fall.
Maybe I can just walk away...
Please let me go. Let me walk away. I feel the words in my head like a prayer.
Please, they whisper. Don't look for me."

DON'T LOOK FOR ME
BY WENDY WALKER
Wendy Walker is my absolute favorite author when it comes to reading a novel of psychological suspense. She is the queen of crafting each of her books to have the power to grab your attention on the very first page and ratcheting up the tension until the very end. This leads me into not wanting to put the book down so that I usually read from cover to cover in one sitting. Her fourth in this genre is no exception because she once again delivers with her latest called, "Don't Look For Me."
Molly Clarke is wracked with guilt and grief over a tragedy that really was an accident and given the right circumstances could happen to any of us. I really liked Molly and felt sorry for her for the way her family was treating her because it wasn't all her fault. Her husband ignores her and makes believe he has already fallen asleep at night when she climbs into bed. Unbeknownst to Molly he is having an affair. Her oldest daughter Nichole is downright cruel to Molly and her son Evan isn't much nicer as he ignores her when she drives four hours each way to attend his football games.
It is during one of these trips on her way home after again being ignored by Evan that there is a hurricane and she runs out of gas. She is within walking distance of the Gas n go that she discovers has already closed. What happens next sets the scene for the premise of this chiller. Molly disappears but what exactly happened to her? I was riveted and captivated and totally caught off guard as to who was responsible for what happened which is a great thing.
I have enjoyed all four of Wendy Walker's psychological thrillers. I loved her first book "All is Not Forgotten." I also loved her second book "Emma in the Night." Her third novel was slightly less memorable but with this one she is back on top of her game. I highly recommend all fans of this genre to read her previous books as well as this one if you like addictive page turners. You will not be disappointed. I look forward to her next book and am aware that I have to wait because this one isn't published until September of this year.

READING PROGRESS
This book was absolutely riveting, from start to finish. I couldn’t get enough. Sneaking in chapters and pages wherever I could whenever I could! And reading the last 40% in one day because I had to know what was going to happen! Devastating at times, frustrating at times, happy at times. It really runs the whole gambit.
My third read from Wendy Walker and all three have been five star reads! She’s an amazing author!
This book doesn’t come out until September, but when it does I will buy a crisp new hardcover and put it on my shelf to treasure forever!
Wow Wendy Walker has written another tense chilling psychological thriller.A dead child a guilty mom,a woman who disappears one day.Did she leave on her own or did something darker happen to her.so chilling so tense picked it up to read a few pages and read this multi layered story for hours,Highly recommend,#netgalley#randomhouse
My new favorite Wendy Walker novel!
Great pacing, great suspense, creepy vibes galore...
Whoa.... never saw that coming....
No down time in this one, really enjoyed and NOT predictable.
If your a fan of Wendy Walker or mysteries, investigations, and thrillers, I would say Just Read IT!
I like anything Wendy Walker writes. She just knows how to paint a picture with words. This book tells the story of Molly. Molly is defined by the tragic accident in which her youngest child lost her life. The story begins about 5 years after the little girl's death and takes you on a roller coaster ride from the first chapter. I did not know what to expect from one chapter to the next after Molly is taken. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to read a thriller that tells a unique tale.
Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for a chance to read and review.
Electric and atmospheric, Don’t Look For Me is so much more than a cleverly-plotted, beautifully-written novel. This gorgeously layered thriller is riveting, haunting and emotional, following a family broken by tragedy and asking if redemption is ever an option when the unthinkable has happened, or if walking away is really the best option.
This is the dilemma Molly debates at the opening of the novel:
‘Just put one foot in front of the other’ or ‘walk away. You can leave all of this behind.’
Her family are still recovering from the tragic death of one of their own when Molly goes missing. Would Molly put them through the loss again? What really happened to Molly?
A chilling and twisty delight I highly recommend!
A woman goes missing during a storm and evidence suggests that she walked away from her life and her family tragedy. When new evidence is found her daughter Nicole goes back to the small town searching for answers about her mother’s disappearance and quickly realizes that not everyone is who they seem.
Wendy Walker’s Don’t Look for Me is nothing short of superb. I was hooked from the first chapter and surprised by each twist and turn of the story. This is one of the best books I have read in a very long time and I will make it a priority to read Walker’s other books.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Wendy Walker knocked it out of the park with this one. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat and patiently waiting for her to crank out another book - STAT! Don’t delay read this right away!
I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review. I am a big fan of thrillers and this one did not disappoint. The protagonist is a relatable character who I found myself rooting for throughout the story. This book is full of tragedy, heartbreak, mystery but also the bonds of family and the lengths that family will go to for each other. Your mind will be challenged as several "suspects" are suggested. The ending was a definite surprise and I stayed up late because I couldn't put it down until I finished the book!
I highly recommend this book for fans of thrillers, you will NOT be disappointed, it is definitely a page turner. Thank you to the author and publisher for allowing me to review this book!
I finished this book in a day and oh my gosh it was amazing!! I literally could not put this book down! What really happened to Molly Clarke? That’s the big question going into this book! Boy your in for a treat!! Following the death of her youngest daughter Alice in a horrible accident Molly is still dealing with the after effects, it has torn her family apart, she’s certain her husband is cheating, her other daughter Nicole refuses to talk to her except to say I Hate You and her son doesn’t even acknowledge her, so driving home in a storm no one is surprised when she goes missing, and the local police find a note saying she’s sorry don’t look for me.. Her daughter Nicole refuses to accept her mother just left, and decides after receiving a phone call that holds clues to what happened to her mother that stormy night, she opens her own investigation. Heading to the small town her mother disappeared in things don’t add up and she begins to feel the town may have their own secrets, starting with the young girl that disappeared before her mother. Nicole soon uncovers Secrets, deceptions and lots of lies beneath this town and begins to wonder who she can trust, and what she discovers will have you not wanting to stop at that local gas station during a storm! Told in alternate perspectives of third person following Nicole and Molly in 1st person! With Molly we get her story that’s filled with terror, obsession and revenge! Each chapter had me eagerly turning the page because it ended with such a twisted last sentence. A huge five stars!
Wendy Walker is a talented author. I realized this when I first started reading her books and have felt the same way since then. In her latest release, readers will be plunged into the mystery of Molly Clarke's disappearance. Did she leave on her own or did something sinister happen? Find out in Don't Look For Me, the gripping thriller from Wendy Walker!
Wow, what a thrilling book!!
Molly is a mom still trapped in grief over the death of her youngest daughter. She overcompensates by driving eight hours round trip to attend her unappreciative son's sport matches (he's at a boarding school), and while on one of these treks, disappears. Her family is so detached from her that it takes half a day for anyone to realize she's missing.
After police find abandoned clothes and a note written by Molly at a casino, everyone assumes that Molly has walked away from her family and old life. Only one person - her daughter - suspects that something else happened.
What happens next is classic Wendy Walker - a strange small town filled with shady characters, and a story filled with twists and turns.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC.
This is the second book I have read by Wendy Walker and this one was even better than the first. Molly gets kidnapped on her way home from visiting her son at boarding school. Her kidnappers have been watching her and had this all perfectly planned out. They leave a note for the family ' Do no look for me and the police close the case, saying that she ran away. But her daughter Nicole doesn't believe it. And when she gets a call from a woman saying she saw her mother the night she disappears, Nicole sets out to find where her mother really is.
Molly Clarke is just a mom heading home from her son's game during a storm, when her car runs out of gas. She suddenly feels all of her guilt of her life crashing down on her and entertains the idea of walking away from it. Just when she thinks all hope is loss, along comes a kind stranger and his daughter to offer her a ride and a shelter out of the storm.
Two weeks later, Molly is still missing and her daughter returns to the town to try to locate her mother. Did she leave them? Was she killed or kidnapped? Nicole is desperate to find out, so desperate that she puts herself in danger.
This story is a fantastic thriller. It keeps you on the edge of your seat from the first page to the last. You definitely won't want to put this book down until you reach the end. Wendy Walker has written a tale that twists and turns, that even the characters don't know who to trust. This story will surprise you and leaving you gasping in shock.
Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the advanced copy of the book. The opinions are my own.
Molly Clarke has just driven miles to watch her sons game. He didn't even acknowledge she was there. Maybe her children do hate her and don't want her around. Maybe her husband is having an affair.
One thi g she does know for certain is she did everything in her power to avoid the accident. It happened anyway. Now her family is in a downward spiral. Everything just may be her fault. Maybe they are better off with her gone.
She truly believes this, until she is taken against her will. No one knows where she is. The conclusion is that she left on her own, running from tragedy.
The truth is much more sinister. Her life and the lives of others are on the line.
Dark, chilling, horrifying!
Excellent!
Great story. An unhappy woman stuck in a storm luckily saved. But was it luck and why? Molly Clarke has lost a daughter in an accident for which she's responsible. Her family is in pieces. None of them care for her anymore. She still tries to keep it together. Getting stranded in a storm changes everything. She is a hostage and it doesn't seem to be an accidental occurrence. Someone planned this. The storm just helped it happen. Now her daughter must find her. Who can she trust? The twists are surprising. The ending unexpected.
Another great story by this author.
Did she go missing of her own accord or did she run away from her life and everything she thought she knew?
Molly Clarke goes missing.
Has she *walked* away leaving her family after a devastating turn of events threw their lives in to turmoil? DId she run from a family that didn't care if she was there?
OR
Was she taken, gone in the night?
This story is a bit of an emotional ride, and you don't know what will happen.
