A Lucy Kincaid novel that won't disappoint you. With another heroine Maxine Revere in it as well.
A mass grave is discovered after a big storm with the Albright family that everyone thought had went into hiding in Mexico to escape a crime that Mrs. Albright had committed. But only four sets of bones were discovered, instead of the five. Where is the missing son? Is he buried else where? Was he alive? This case is over three years old, and the investigation was ended, when the police thought the family was in Mexico. Lucy and her partner Nate are going to go through everything with fresh eyes, but someone doesn't want them to continue.
Maxine travels to San Antonio to do a favor for an old family friend to find out what happened to his murdered daughter Victoria. The man responsible for the crime has recanted his story of committing the crime. Maxine hires Lucy's P.I husband Seth Rogan to help her out. One thing they didn't plan on finding was that Victoria is connected to the Albright family. Such a deep, twisting and suspenseful story. It goes way beyond of what you might think.

Thank you Minotaur Books for this advanced copy!

Cut and Run was a gripping procedural thriller that included both murder and white collar crimes.

Lucy Kincaid is an FBI agent investigating the unearthed remains of a family executed and killed three years ago - a family of five, but there's only four bodies. Her investigation takes her high up in the Texas corporate world, following the trail of affairs, embezzlement and family secrets.

At the same time as Lucy is investigating a cold case, investigative reporter Maxine Revere is digging deep into the recent murder of Victoria Mills, at the request of the family. There is already a confession, but Max is convinced that it is false, and was given in order to protect family. Max quickly realizes that her case and Lucy's have startling similarities and connections, and they join forces to solve these crimes.

I have to say, the thriller side of this novel was a slow burn for me. It was definitely suspenseful and twisty, but it also seemed fairly easily laid out, and I felt like I knew what was going to happen. The culprits are only lightly kept from you, and eventually it becomes more of a hunt for their whereabouts as opposed to identities.

The one thing I did appreciate was that the two main characters were both strong, independent, will-kick-your-ass women, and those are the ones I love reading about. I can't stand in procedural thrillers when there is a female officer or agent who is shown as "tough" but who also ends up needing protection from the stronger, more intimidating male. Both Lucy and Max were strong-willed, not easily manipulated, and fought hard for what they needed.

Overall, it was an enjoyable read, the story was really interesting, and the inclusion of both murder and embezzlement made it different for me - I don't think I've read too many white collar crime thrillers. I will definitely be checking out more of Brennan's writing.

I will leave a review on Amazon or B&N on Mar 31, 2020

Cut and Run is another book in the Lucy Kincaid series, wow what a great book. As with all the previous books this is another action packed storyline. Even though this is a part of a series, you can still read this as a stand alone in my opinion. Lucy is back and so is Max in this last who-done-it. I would certainly recommend this book to those that enjoy a good thriller.

I received an Advanced Readers Copy from NetGalley and St. Martins Press, and this is my fair and honest review.

Too many bad guys. Too many good guys. too many plot lines. too hard to follow the threads.
I usually love Allison Brennan's books but this one just exhausted me trying to mentally keep track of all the people. Less with more depth would have been way more satisfying. the one character I was interested in, the boy who escaped was given short shrift at the end. Very disappointed.

I never miss a book by Allison Brennan. This is the 16th book in the Lucy Kinkaid series and is full of the usual twists and turns. Ms Brennan does a superb job of describing the terror of a child who is afraid he’s going to be killed. Investigator Max Revere is also part of this story, and presents evidence to Lucy, an FBI agent, and Lucy agrees to let Max work with her. The ending of the book is an overall surprise. I would have given this book 5 stars, but there were so many characters I had a hard time following who was who, especially in the last part of the book. I received an ARC of this book from Goodreads and St Martin’s Press. All opinions expressed are my own.

This latest installment in the Lucy Kincaid series started out kind of slow for me. Sad to say it took me a while to get into it. However, I kept going as this is one of my favorite lead characters/series. I'm happy to say I ended up really enjoying the story. Lucy did not disappoint!!

I look forward to the next one.

Thank you #netgalley and #stmartinspress for the eARC.

I was thrilled to enjoy another title in the Lucy Kincaid series, one of my favorites. The added plus is it’s a two for one read with Maxine Revere riding in to solve a recent case as opposed to her usual cold case. Yet that is where Lucy and Maxine once again go head to head as it seems their cases could be connected, but how in the world is that possible. Corporate crime rears its ugly head and you have a lot to wrap your head around as both women peer into their cases and the murders and events that have brought the story to their attention. All investigations and research is handled nicely either by the FBI, Lucy and partner Nate, or Lucy’s husband Sean Rogan working with Maxine. There are twists and turns galore, great character interaction (you have to enjoy the interactions of two very strong women sometimes at odds but so strong in what they stand for – justice), and suspense as they all move to bringing their stories to a conclusion. A recommended read!

Allison Brennan latest novel Cut and Run has several story lines that merge together. Lucy Kincaid and her husband Sean Rogan are featured but Maxine Rivers has a major story line as well. She has a different approach to solving cases and does not work for any government office. She gathers information either to create shows on TV and is actually an investigative reporter. The plot has many characters most of whom are dishonest but Lucy is determined to solve the murders and even work with Max to bring everyone to justice. Lucy as usual does an excellent job and this time she had help from Max and Jennifer Reed a member of the police department.

I have read all of Allison Brennan’s books and have really enjoyed her writing style and story lines. This is the newest book in the Lucy Kincaid series. I really liked the characters in this book and I liked how she showed the terror of a young child who had been placed in such a horrible situation. There were lots of twists and turns and I liked how she tied all the story lines up in a happy way

FBI agent Lucy Kincaid is looking into a bizarre cold case. A storm uncovered the remains of a family, all but the youngest boy, who was never found. Original investigators clam up when she asks questions, but that won’t stop her. She intends to uncover the truth no matter what the cost
