I admit self-help and books about finding your inner peace have never been my thing. I always feel they are just a bunch of hocus pocus written by people trying to take your money to feel better about yourself. With that said I must also admit I was so wrong about this book.
From the moment I started reading it, I felt happier. As I began really getting into it and following the exercises and really focusing on the words I began to get a sense that things were changing in my life.
No, I haven't won the lottery or struck gold with a million idea however I have begun to see more great things happening in my life. I have gotten job offers and clients I never thought I could get before.
I can truly say this book has changed my life.
I've been a long time fan of Gay Hendricks and his wife Katie so I was eager to read this book. As a person who has believed she is lucky for most of my life, it was easy to accept the concept. While most of the "secrets' really aren't that secret, they were good reminders about how we can each shape our experience regardless of where we find ourselves in life. I particularly liked the suggestion that "it is more important to feel lucky than to actually be lucky.
I usually don’t read self-help books, but this one had my interest- who couldn’t use a little extra luck? And I’m so glad I took the time to read this little gem. I would consider this a fast read to help change your mind set and take control of your life. Sometimes it’s the little things that make all the difference. One example the author gave was the simple/ hard, say ‘yes’ (something I have to remind myself on a daily basis). It sounds simple but is incredibly hard, but worth the effort. By saying ‘yes’ we open our world and experiences, and double our luck. Highly recommend the read. And thank you Netgalley for offering this book.
I enjoyed Conscious Luck very much and I am very grateful for the advance copy I was offered. I have had a love affair with luck all my life and do have a theory of my own based on my life experiences. Hendricks and Kline have taken this rather nebulous subject and made it come alive in a much different way. Their eight part synopsis brought out so many interesting ways of delving into luck that went far beyond my idea of winning at gambling. It opened me up to the idea of winning at life. That is the reason I am so truly grateful. An excellent book well worth reading.
I absolutely love these types of books. It really opened my mind and am intrigued to read other books like this one. The author did a fabulous job!
Very good. As with most books in the genre, there's basically nothing new here, But how it's presented and packaged, including a genuine tone and style, works quite well. There aren't too many exercises, and those presented are reasonable (and hopefully helpful). Recommended.
I really appreciate the ARC for review!!
I've read a few books on luck but found this the most convincing. I read most of it in a day and started implementing it straight away.
Given the high level content of the book I think one needs to be 'ready' for it. It's written in a friendly way but that won't help if you're not yet understanding how we draw things towards us.
If you're a 'science is everything' type you might want The Luck Factor by Richard Wiseman but I'm more comfortable with this. I can see it going out often on my library shelves.
I’m required to write 25 words but don’t really have them. I did not finish this one. Terrible tone. I requested several titles that I thought would be self help from this publisher whose books in other genres I have enjoyed in the past.
