This is one of Jennifer Ryan's best book yet!!!! The dynamics of a family is so very difficult to depict in a story, and Jennifer did a fabulous job. Three sisters and a mother, loss and hardships, the daily life that consumes people and lose their priorities, secrets that tear apart families, and a journey of redemption and forgiveness. This is a great story not to be missed.
There is no bond stronger and yet more fragile than the one between sisters! This book highlights that truth in such a way that it grabs the heart-strings and pulls all of the emotional baggage right out into the open where the healing can then begin as these sisters discover. Deeply moving and emotionally impactful, this book should be read by anyone blessed to have a sister!!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book provided to me by the publisher through NetGalley.
Sisters & Secrets by Jennifer Ryan made for a quick, enjoyable read. It was the first book I've read by the author & I was interested in the way she unfolded the story & showed the relationships between the sisters. Family stories are a favorite of mine.
Oh, boy! The drama that can surround a bunch of sisters! Makes me thankful in this case that I am an only child! There was A LOT going on in this book, my first by the author. She did not disappoint! Hit with a double whammy of losing her husband in a fatal car crash and her house in a fire, Sierra moves home with her two little boys. Amy is happy that Sierra will be close by, but Heather gives off the feeling of apprehension and fear. There's a reason why secrets are never a good idea, moreso if those secrets will somehow hurt a sibling.
This book was more than the drama between sisters. It was also about second chances not only for Sierra and Mason, the hunky next door neighbor who was once Sierra's closest friend, but also for the three sisters and mending their relationships with each other. It was about growth and growing up, looking at different perspectives, and coming to terms with the things that couldn't be changed.
Nice women's fiction story. I found the characters relatable and the issues interesting. I really liked all of the sisters' personalities. I found the story very emotional and engaging. Definitely recommended for fans of this genre.
If you enjoy a quick romance read, maybe for a vacation or a trip to the beach, pick up this book. The light hearted romance between the main characters mixed with the family drama makes it one you can’t put down. Though the plot is rather predictable and the dialogue between characters is rather cheesy at times, I found the secrets and the relationships to keep me coming back for more.
I loved this book! This story was about three sisters and their lives, secrets and issues. It was well written and enjoyable. A terrific summer read.
This story will definitely tug on your heartstrings because love is the only thing that can heal all wounds. Sierra lost everything after a devastating fire and moved home to give her two boys the fresh start that they deserved. Being home also meant a second chance at love with her old flame, Mason, who just happened to live next door. Sierra soon finds that her deceased husband held a couple of tragic secrets and her other sisters had secrets of their own. Can she move on from this, or are some wounds too difficult to heal?
Ms. Ryan will always be one of my favorite authors and this was an amazing story that to my favorite pile. Each sister had their own distinct personality and you could see that there was a lot of history that needed to be addressed by coming home. I’m sorry that they had to go through this but this journey made them stronger as sisters and family by the end of it.
Jennifer Ryan brings us the story of three very different sisters: Sierra, who loses her husband and home within a year leaving her sons fatherless and homeless; Heather, a single mother of Hallee who refuses to name the father; and Amy, who needs to showcase her perfect family to the rest of the world. These three women come together when Sierra decides to go home and stay with their mother as she figures out what to do with the rest of their lives. Then there is Mason, the neighbor who grew up with them and the object of each of the sisters' crushes at different points in their lives. But Mason has always had his eyes on Sierra.
But, they are each hiding secrets. And secrets tend to come out. And they could either tear you apart, or make you stronger. As Sierra and Mason start getting closer, these secrets gets revealed. How will each sister react? How do the actions from long ago affect them now? As each sister's story is revealed, we get to see the dynamics of family, friendship, and love. Will Sierra, Heather, and Amy be able to come together as sisters to support each other, or will these revelations break them apart? Will Sierra be able to see Mason as a man who will stand by her side or as someone she needs to keep at arm's length?
Jennifer Ryan brings us the story of three very different women who lead very different lives and how decisions made in the past affect them all. She shows us the difficult dynamics of sisters, family, loyalty, and love. I enjoyed the journey with these ladies and I look forward to another adventure with Jennifer Ryan. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank NetGalley and HarperCollins Publishers for this privilege.
Not long after her husband dies, a wildfire also takes her home and job, so Sierra and her two boys move back home to be with her mother and two sisters' families. But while their strength and support hold her together, and finding love with an old friend gives her hope, secrets between sisters threaten to destroy her newfound refuge.
This was a very pleasant if predictable read. The reader can see the secret coming long before Sierra does, big surprise then reason wins out surprisingly quickly, and everyone finds their way to a very happy ending. If you want to curl up with a relaxing read, this one's for you.
Talk about an edge of your seat hold on for dear life emotional roller-coaster, but in the best possible full of heart and longing way. Really enjoyed this heartwarming and entertaining journey. Perfect summer relaxing read.
The story of three sisters: one whose husband is dead, one who is the single mother of a baby, and one who has a bad marriage. Rarely have I stuck with a book when I can’t stand one of the characters. But...this is Jennifer Ryan so I gave it a shot.
I’m glad I did. I ended up enjoying the book more than I thought I would. It’s a departure from the types of books that I normally read by her, but still, I enjoyed.
Sisters and Secrets weaves a complex (but predictable) story about love, loss, betrayal and second chances. Sister dynamics can be rife with drama and the Silva sisters had plenty of it! I enjoyed the love story between Sierra and Mason (and her boys were so adorable and loveable!). It gave me hope that life can start anew after devastation. Amy's character growth was satisfying but Heather but so obnoxious and selfish. The resolution seemed too simplistic- I would be livid forever!- but overall a good, easy read.
This is a powerful story involving the three Silva sisters and their complicated relationships with some devastating secrets.
Sierra makes the decision to return home with her two little boys after a Napa wildfire takes everything they own, including the only mementos of her late husband, David. She is determined to start over and make a new life for her and her boys, even possibly revealing the double life that her late husband may have led. In the middle of devastation she finds new love and hope for her and her boys that makes all the difference.
Amy is so busy creating the perfect life and perfect family that she risks destroying her family. Will she realize the dangerous path she is headed down before it's too late?
Heather is the youngest who is spoiled and used to getting what she wants. Her selfishness will lead to an impulsive decision with devastating effects.
When one secret is revealed it will rock the Silva sisters to the core with the possibility of destroying this family. Is there ever a time when forgiveness is not an option?

Sisters and Secrets by Jennifer Ryan is about three sisters and the masks they wear to camouflage what is happening in their lives, the secrets they have, second chance at love, finding forgiveness, family, the realities of life and how we learn to handle what life gives us...
Another very well written family drama by Jennifer Ryan. If you are very lucky family is who you go to when you need love, support and a safe place to lay your head even if only for a short time. Sierra, the loving mother of two becomes a widow way too young. A short while later the home she and her boys live in and mourn their husband/dad in burns to the ground. Feeling overwhelmed she decides to head home for a time. Home is her mother, 2 sisters, their families and community that that is familiar, feels safe and maybe, just maybe the possibility of a rekindled love. Everyone has secrets. Some little fibs and some whoppers. Sierra, while trying to figure out what secrets her husband was hiding before his untimely death and what the loan he had taken out was for discovers that her sister Amys picture perfect life staged for social media is not all it seems and that Heather, the incredibly selfish, spoiled narcissist of a sister is hiding something major and can’t quite put her finger on it. Honestly, Heathers secret was not really a surprise and yet knowing it didn’t take away from anything for me. The family dynamic seems real and though does wrap things up, it doesn’t leave everything perfect and all better, though in a million years I would never speak to Heather again! Clearly the author is more evolved than I am! I very much look forward to more from this wonderful author. She has become a favorite.

WOW!! Sisters and Secrets was my first book by Jennifer Ryan. It definitely won't be my last.
This is a beautiful story of sisters coming together and apart to support each other and their families. Sierra has been dealt a hard set of events and decides she needs to return to the family home to regroup. Amy is the Pinterest mom who seems to have it all. Heather is the baby sister raising a baby on her own. When their worlds begin intersecting again, truths come out.
This book teaches a great lesson on love and forgiveness. It serves as a reminder that communication is key in every relationship. The love their mother shows for all of them is the most pure and sometimes the most torn. This beautiful tribute to the intense and turbulent relationships that sisters have is just amazing.
I really liked how Jennifer Ryan handled the multi point of view format of this book. Almost every chapter was a new point of view and it was introduced in the first sentence of the chapter. "Sierra walked in..." I loved this so much more than "Chapter Four. Sierra."
Sisters and Secrets by Jennifer Ryan is a women’s fiction story. I am more accustomed to romance by Ms. Ryan but found this serious look at family and sisters an interesting read. As all three sisters and their children come together it is difficult for each woman to hide behind the façade mask they each wear.
Like most families, difficulties exist along with messy encounters, feelings and perspectives. This trio seems to have some big issues to deal with n the present. As the masks fall away secrets are revealed, problems are acknowledged and new paths in the relationships are forged. Lost, forgiveness, empathy and love are all explored with each sister coming to terms to the realities of life now.
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A new author for me so I was excited by the plotline reveal. The secret between the Silva sisters is one that causes irreparable harm. It was pretty obvious to me what the secret was prior to it's reveal in the storyline. That didn't diminish the story, but did make for a letdown.
It's a story of family, love and forgiveness. A reminder that we can forgive our family for actions that hurt, but you don't ever forget. You move past the hurt and humiliation while remembering what caused the pain, so it never happens again.
I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.

I have never read Jennifer Ryan before, but I was intrigued by the premise of this book, since it involved sisters and their complex dynamic with one another. While the relationships are intricate and a bit complex at first glance, as soon as I got the gist of it, I found myself becoming invested in the complex lives of these characters and how they interact with one another.
I really liked Sierra, the sister who is the central character of the book, and her romance with her old friend Mason, especially since her arc is her rebuilding following her husband’s death.
I was less fond of the other sisters, especially Heather, but there was a good reason for that, with a reveal that had me feeling shocked and betrayed on Sierra’s behalf.
In short, this story is exactly what the title says: about sisters and secrets, and I enjoyed it. I recommend this if you love stories centering on complex family ties.
