great book. i love this series. All these dragon kings. I'm learning so much about them and the others. Every book gets us closer to the truth and how far back this ominosity goes. I can't wait to find out what happens next.

You just can't go wrong with this author. This series is simply outstanding. Unique stories with characters that leap off the page, Grant grabs your attention from the very first page.

Once again, Donna Grant has written another electrifying novel in her world of Dragon Kings, fae, druids, Reapers, Others, and some whose ancestry is as yet unrevealed. "Flame" provides non-stop action from start to finish, beginning with Noreen’s determination to reveal the Others’ plans to take Earth from the Dragon Kings, Cain’s desire to help her in any way possible, and more. Some of the old players are still very much in the game (Usaeil, Rhi, Erith, Cael, Con, Ulrik, Henry, (view spoiler)) and several newer ones likely will have a part to play as well (Moreanne, Orun, Noreen, Melisse, Rolmir.)

A few characters/items from previous novels are only briefly mentioned in Flame and it is unclear what their contributions will be in the final battle; for example, Xaneth, the missing weapon, and more. What can we expect from the TruthSeeker, the JusticeBringer, the Druids of Skye, the Warriors, and the Reapers? Will the dragons ever be able to return to Earth?

The last chapter and the epilogue of Flame hint at things to come. The battle lines have been drawn. I’ve been waiting for this final battle for many years now. Bring it on!

I absolutely loved this book. So exciting, I had to read it on the weekend when I knew I could read it in one sitting. Boy did I ever, could not put it down. Edge of my bed reading. I really like this author and am particularly fond of this series; cause let's face it - Dragons. The story as a whole and the direction this whole series is going in, is so exciting to me. I cannot wait for the next book.

I have voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this title given to me via NetGalley. This book was just amazing. I just lost myself in this story and didn’t want it to end. It was really well written and just drew in you into these characters lives. I look forward to seeing what’s next from this author.

Another great one in the series of Dragon kings. If you enjoyed others in the series, you will continue to like this one. Highly recommend other books in the series prior to reading this or you might be a little lost. Lot of romance and action and suspense with a dash of heat (not super graphic).
Wish I knew how this whole series ended...!

A story of passion and intrigue I never find myself bored or lacking when I read one of Grants book! Flame takes the stories of the dragons and the fate of their world to another level and kept me on the edge of my seat! Since I first entered their world I haven’t wanted to leave and each book fills a place in my soul I didn’t know was bare!

Cain and Noreens story is one of my favorite so far of the Kings and I can’t wait to see what fate has in store!

I love this book. So many twists with magic enough to keep my inner child in wonder. Noreen has two sides. One full of hate and contempt. The other, softer side, yearning for love and justice. Cain is a handful and any woman would love to be hands on. Hot, strong and canny he still gets blindsided. What a great book to let your imagination lose.

Holy SMOKE!!!! You guys!!! There's so many things that happen in this!! Like....wait, what? And, O. M. G.!!!!!

First and foremost, yes, this is like the 154679th book in this series, but even I haven't read all of them (hangs head - I've been busy). This author does an amazing job catching anyone up who may not know, or remember, things that have happened before in the series. So don't worry. Just jump right in. It's totally worth it!!!

Like I mentioned before, so many things happen in this book. Where most books focus on a love interest and the drama around that relationship, this is that, but on steroids.

After receiving a cryptic email, Cain is sent to meet the person who sent it in order to determine the validity behind it. Who's that person? Noreen. A Dark Fae who is also a member of the Others, a group determined to "take down" the Dragon Kings. So how do you figure out if her information is truth or lie? Good question.

While all of this posturing and chemistry is going on, Henry is still looking for the weapon lost by the King of Dragon Kings, Moreann is still up to her evil tricks, U-B!tch has managed to pull one over, yet again, Death and the Reapers are up to something and where the heck is Rhi? I'm exhausted just typing it.

Buckle up peeps. This is SOOOOO freking good!!!!

An interesting continuation of the Dragon King series. I enjoy the story line as it continues to unravel with each book. I went back and re read previous books before reading Flame.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for my advanced copy which I received in exchange for my honest review.

From the publisher:

If she believed in destiny, she would believe they were meant for each other.
But that fire was put out long ago. . .

Living among the Dragon Kings, Cain has spent lifetimes learning to distrust both mortals and Fae. He is a warrior born—and every instinct demands that he fight to keep his own kind safe. But when a fringe member of the Dark Fae contacts the Kings with an urgent warning, Cain is torn for the first time. How can he trust this beautiful creature when resisting his primal attraction to her is battle enough?

Noreen is horrified by what her kind and the malevolent Others are planning for the Dragon Kings. Dark Fae or not, there are lines she will not cross—even if it means risking her life. But she never imagined that she would risk her heart until she meets Cain. She wants him with a soul-deep desire that frightens her…and endangers them both. Is saying goodbye to everything Noreen has ever known worth a love that will span time and realms?

My review:

Donna Grant does not disappoint.

This is the latest book in the Dark Kings series. I suggest you read them in order because you don’t want to miss out on anything. This book introduces us to Noreen, a Dark Fae who has been a member of the OTHERS. The Dragon Kings are at war with The Others who have powerful magic. Noreen, it turns out wants to shift her alliance to the Dragon Kings. Noreen falls in love with the Dragon King, Cain. Cain starts out by wanting any information he can get from Noreen but the longer they are together the more Cain falls for her as well. He just doesn’t know if he can trust her.

I enjoyed this series and can’t believe it’s almost at an end. This book is filled with so much passion and the characters very captivating. Read the series, you will not be disappointed.

This is number seventeen in the Dark Kings series. I have read quite a few in this series and I must say, I’m kind of ready for some closure. This book continues the struggle between the dragon kings and the Others. Unfortunately, nothing at all was resolved. Cain and Noreen attempted to find love but they had their ups and downs. That was kind of a yawner. Con And Rhi continue their struggle to get over each other. Plans are made to attack the Others but the attack was anticlimactic. Really, I felt like nothing significant happened in this book, it was blah and I’m ready for this series to reach some sort of conclusion. I’m not sure I want to read another one in this series if nothing continues to happen. I was disappointed in this book. Thank you to NetGalley and and the publisher for giving me an ARC In exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

The making of a great story make you stay up, read on the tablet till you kill the battery, when you get to the end of the book you get upset that it over and have to wait 5 month till the next book. Flame is the latest next Dark King book. This is the latest in this series and I'd definitely recommend that you read these in order because there's a lot of catching up to do otherwise. Plus there's a spin-off series about Reapers that greatly adds to the world building. Cain and Noreen are perfect for an enemies to lovers story. I can wait till the next book.

I enjoyed this latest installment of the engrossing Dark Kings series. This is a series you have to start from the very beginning. If you’ve just stumbled upon this book, start with book 1 or be prepared to be utterly confused for a bit. Yet, stick with it and it’s worth it. My only complaint with Flame is that I wish it covered more ground. In previous installments, the overall story seemed to move forward more than in this one. That doesn’t really happen here.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

FLAME is another installment in the DARK KINGS series that follows the Dragon Kings and their mates. The book also fits into the larger world Grant has created with the war sparked by The Others continuing here. Noreen is a dark fae who has been part of The Others, and she is reaching out to the Dragon Kings with information she has decided to pass along. When they get her email, they send Cain to learn more and help her out as her life is endangered by the act.

The romance hits pretty fast in the timeline of the two meeting, and a lot of the book focuses on the other story lines. I did want to follow along with the overarching story, and I like that we get a lot more information about the history and makeup of The Others in this one. I do wish we had more focus on the couple and more relationship development.

Overall, this was a solid installment with Grant's usual skill in writing. I do think it is helpful to have read previous books to enjoy this one, as a lot of the plot is from the overarching story line (although the romance is new).

Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher through netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Flame book 17 in the Dark Kings series features Cain, King of the Navy’s and Noreen, a dark Fae. While their story is the main focus of the book, there’s a whole lot of other plot lines that are unraveling throughout the tale. Something miraculous is happening on the Fae realm. Henry, the JusticeBringer, fulfills one of his roles and finds what he has been seeking. We get to see Con finally lose control. He opens up about the loss of his mate! We learn more of the back story on Moreann the Others. Balladyn makes an appearance and transforms into something unexpected. After Rhi’s transformation in Fever, she resurfaces here, surprising and astounding everyone. It was another wild ride in the world of the Dark Kings. It’s one of those books that you can’t put down, but are so sorry when it’s over. I just want more!!!!

Flame
by Donna Grant

The most heart wrenching, intense, shocking story yet! The twist is enough to leave you speechless. But then, anything less for the second to the last book, would have been dissatisfying. This book is the prelude to the big war everyone knew was coming.

Noreen, a Dark Fae but also an Other, had a goal. But it’s not a simple one, it was a double betrayal. But it was more than that, it was giving up of one’s self. Noreen’s life has never been her own. She had a great destiny but it was ripped from her, or has it? The grand finale will be answering that. She is a strong woman with a brilliant mind. But, her heart is in shards, and it may stay that way by choice.

Our Dragon King is Cain, a King who has always struggled with the past. He unexpectedly found love, but it was gone as fast as it was found. With his heart in turmoil, it will be him, to do what may have to be done. Will he survive.

As these two face an intense and painful journey, as they work together to fight the OTHERS and end their deadly schemes. Mostly can they overcome their past and betrayals and find love and forgiveness?

As all this happens we get a glimpse of RHI and where’s she been and what’s she up to. Along with CON, and his breakdown and the truth of his journals.

Grab the book and a box of tissue, settle in, cause your in for one intense read.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
