This book is for those ready to expand and open their minds through the use of advanced yogic techniques. The chakras are thoroughly explored. You will be wowed after reading this book if you are ready for this type of developmental expansion. It’s not for beginners.
PROS:
-Good for expanding your already established yoga practice.
-Jam packed full of exercises and practices.
CONS:
-No images or visuals to help clarity the items described and better guide the practices.
-As a result of the mentioned above items, I wouldn’t recommend this for a beginner or someone who has never taken a yoga class.
Thanks to Netgalley, publisher and author for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The presentation of this book made it difficult to fully dig into the subject matter. I shared it with my spouse, who is really into esoteric topics and yoga. As a result, I can say that the ideas showcased here are good ones, but the lack of color was a turnoff.
Thank you Netgalley and the Publisher for my digital copy in exchange for an honest review.
I requested this book because I am interested in learning ways to heal myself that don't have anything to do with Western medicine so I basically request any that catch my eye having to do with yoga, chakras, crystals, or any other healing suggestions. My review is based more on how the book was presented than the actual content of it...What I mean is that the content itself was good but the layout and the presentation didn't catch my eye and keep it. Not at all...I found myself struggling to keep at it. Compared to the other books I have read, which might not have been as good on the information side, this one was not visually appealing to me. Color is so important when it comes to the chakras but there was literally nothing. Like I said, when it comes to the content, I quite enjoyed it but I think I would have liked this book so much more if there were also pops of color throw in. As you can clearly see, most people enjoy it more than I did...so don't go by my opinion. :)
There is a lot of really good information in this book on how to focuse your yoga practice to help open your chakras. Yrizarry has a chapter dedicated to each of the chakras with poses, meditations, and affirmations for each one. If you are a yoga teacher or practice yoga on your own I think that this will help improve your practice. I will definitely adopt some of the poses into my yoga practice.
I was so excited for this book. Yoga, chakras, intuition and energy work who wouldn’t be? I love the information on how the yoga poses are connected to the chakras. As someone who is heading down the reiki path I really enjoyed this book.
Thank you to the Llewellyn and Netgalley for the advanced reader copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
Loved it! What a JOY! I thought the Author did an excellent job providing practical, insightful information on the use of Yoga with the combination of meditation and psychic energy. I thought it was well written and an interesting combination to consider utilizing.. I knew nothing about 'psychic energy' and I was somewhat skeptical how this was going to all come together. But, it did and I found the subject fascinating. I took notes!
Thank you Net Galley & Llewellyn Worldwide, Ltd. for the opportunity to read this thoroughly enjoyable read.
Not only is this an amazing book to teach you wonderful and relaxing yoga poses, this will show you how to clear and activate each one doing so! This is for sure going to be a well-used book in my collection.
I've always wanted to learn yoga and now I can not only learn but apply it to my spiritual path by using it to cleanse and align my chakras. If you are into reiki healing, this might be a wonderful novel to add to your reference collection.
I liked this book. I found the information useful, if not the most visually appealing. I know both our esoteric readers as well as our yoga fans will find information of interest here! We will definitely be purchasing for the collection.
This is well done for what it is. The premise is new to me even though I've practiced yoga for years. Believing the premise is half the trick to making this work, and there is new info in that poses are connected to chakras, which unusual, although not new. If you want a different perspective on yoga, this may be for you.
Thanks very much for the ARC for review.
I really enjoyed this book and found the insights into how yoga poses could be used to enhance your psychic abilities and improve other health related issues was really good. As the pictures of the poses were a bit too basic to follow, I found myself Googling them as I read through, just for more information. I found it a really helpful and insightful book which has increased my awareness of how yoga can be used in so many different ways and circumstances. Some of the meditations were good as a bonus too.
This is a review based more on the execution of this book and not necessarily the the actual content or text itself. I'll be perfectly honest, I didn't read it, I only flipped through, as what I saw didn't entice me to want to read it properly. With a book like this, I want and need it to be visually appealing. I think a big opportunity to use colour was completely missed. Colour is such an important element of each chakra (for me personally) and I'm quite shocked all the chakra images were void of any colour at all. I also didn't like the stick drawings, I found them quite harsh.
I'm sorry but I'm just disappointed because I think this could have been such a beautiful book! I'm basing my rating on, if I were to see this on the shelf, would I buy it? I'd definitely be drawn to pick it up and flip through it but I ultimately think I'd be turned off by the illustrations and muted colours.
