Giving this 3.25 out of 5 stars

This book is about Lucy Gray who is known to be predictable mainly because it was how she was brought up by her parents. At her sister’s wedding, after she was let down by her date in front of their whole family, she met a psychic and was told that she should stop ignoring signs given by fate so she could find her true love. Lucy decided to go on a “Honeymoon Alone” in England and Paris not just to escape the humiliation but she also listened to what the psychic had told her.

I am not going to bash Lucy Gray for believing in what the psychic told her because I believe in fate. I did enjoy this book as it was a fun read and it had the potential of a love triangle. The banter was there too so it was a good plus to the story. However, i did not like the ending that much. I felt like it could’ve been better and i felt disappointed honestly. (I’m obviously not going to spoil it for anyone)

Don’t get me wrong, the story itself was amazing and was written well by the author but the last part was such a bummer that it was the reason why i deducted stars on my review.

Overall, this was okay. If i would recommend it, i probably would but i would give you a fair warning about the bummer ending.

A really fun, easy read.

After a psychic tells her to follow fate and it'll lead her to love, Lucy Gray decides to do just that - shocking her family and sending the family blog into overdrive, she, on the spur of the moment, decides to use her sister's second, unused honeymoon.

So follows a hilarious adventure in London (and a few nights in Paris). I kind of figured out what was going to happen in the end when she was reading the newspaper on the Chunnel back to London, but never expected how the end happened. PS if you are very scared of heights you may need to speed-read or skip some parts of the New Years Eve drama.

A delightful addition was the blogposts the Gray family make on their family blog - you get a real feel on each character's unique personalities.

A fun, adorable and enjoyable read.

A story set over the Christmas period follows that of Lucy, a 26 year old teacher dumped by her date at her sister’s wedding.

Marian, the newly-married sister has managed to book two honeymoons, but has forgotten to cancel one... cue Lucy taking her first trip to London to make use of the honeymoon that her sister will not be going on. Sounds ideal right? Wrong. Lucy arrives - alone - at a destination catering for those on a honeymoon.

Always having been a doormat and doing things for others, Lucy decides to be more spontaneous and lands herself in some funny, questionable situations and at times these can be dangerous...sometimes they’re predictable and sometimes they’re not!

Lucy learns a lot, whilst on her break and she meets some people that help her along the way. She begins to learns who her true self is and how to be this better version.

The ending has a nice unexpected twist, but an exciting one. Enjoy!

Sooo this was an explosion of genres! Chick lit with some romance with some comedy and some action near the end there! I am glad I read this.

The story follows boring ol' Lucy Gray. She is ditched at her sister's wedding by her date in front of her whole family. A psychic at the wedding provides some solid advice to allow fate to lead her to love. Take a chance! A chance appears like a miracle for Lucy to go to London during Christmas time. Maybe the psychic is right as she finds herself on a vacation that gives her the independence she deserves, but there is some danger, too, that can ruin everything.

Awww Lucy. She has a huge and overprotective family. I can see why she took that leap of faith and got on the plane. I would've. I want to! Someday Carole...someday. *grumbles about still needing to get a passport*.

This was a fun book. I even had BF curious when I would provide updates. Lots of drama especially near the end. I had zero ideas about what was going to happen...especially with the big ol' twist! RUN LUCY RUN!

I hattteeeddd Oliver. Ugh. Surrrreeee after a certain scene I did understand him and...I liked-ish him then, but still. Bleh.

I was meh about Cary too.

There were huge lulls especially in the middle when Lucy was just exploring London and Paris. It was nice to just see the city through her eyes since I've never been. However, I do feel like some of the lull could've been cut a hair.

THAT ENDING. Holy cannoli batman. That was good. Again...I didn't see THAT happening. I had a bunch of theories, but nope...nope.

Overall, I did really like this. I would love to see this become a movie or something. It was a lot of fun. Some lull and a couple of characters I was meh about, but I highly recommend this for those that love a good chick-lit. I'll give this 4 stars.

This book is an absolutely charming and relatable read. The characters are full of personality, and readers will feel right at home Lucy Gray and her family. It's a story about friendship and romance, and how breaking out of the mold of your every day life, can lead to an unconventional path to a happy ending.

Lucy, a single 26 year old teacher, is left by her date at her sister's wedding. Marian, her sister has planned two honeymoons but forgets to cancel one. After speaking to a psychic at Marian’s wedding Lucy decides to take her first trip ever to London to make use of her sister's reservation. When she arrives Lucy discovers that the hotel is dedicated exclusively to honeymooners and she’s arrived alone!
I thought this book was adorable. I really wish I would have picked it up sooner and was a perfect read during the quarantine. It felt like an escape and a breath of fresh air. I will definitely be recommending this book and am looking forward to reading more from Nicole Macaulay.

Love the idea for this novel, I’m always up for a fun, feel-good travel romance! For someone who doesn’t seem to take many risks, our main character definitely shows some confidence issues throughout but manages to come out on the other side and ends on a much more confident and independent note.

I had some early predictions and a few of them panned out but there was plenty of surprise as well! While this started off a bit slow, I’m glad I stuck with it. The second half of this novel rapidly picks up the pace and I found myself racing to find out what happens in the end.

I liked this book, probably because I've always wondered what it would be like to travel to another country by myself. I thought it was mostly creative and a fun read. The characters were interesting and I enjoyed the opportunity to armchair travel!

I thought the title of the book was unexpected, and it drew me in. Lucy, the main character, is a bit of a door mat as she helps everyone else in her life, at her own expense. Finally having enough, Lucy takes the reins on her own life and doesn’t look back. She takes advantage of a planning mistake that allows her to take a two week vacation in England, where she has the chance to reinvent herself.

While there Lucy winds up getting caught up in some antics that put her at times, in precarious situations. She makes some decisions that are either questionable or put her in dangerous situations. Along the way, Lucy meets some people who help her find her way to being her best self. The story is fun, with both predictable and unpredictable moments. This is the author’s debut novel and it is well done. If you are looking for a fun read, perhaps a summer beach book, you found it.

Honeymoon Alone by Nicole Macaulay is a fun chic lit book, and my first book by this author. Lucy Gray talks to a psychic at her sister's wedding and decides to go to London's on her sister's back up honeymoon. Lucy is never spontaneous, so this was a big step for her. When Lucy arrives at the hotel in London, she discovers that the hotel is for newlyweds only, so she pretends her husband will be arriving later. I really enjoyed this book, it's a perfect escape. I will be reading more books by this author. I highly recommend this book.

Honeymoon Alone by Nicole Macaulay a five-star read that won’t leave you feeling alone. This was my first novel by this author, but it won’t be the last, as it started a little slowly, but honestly once it picked up it didn’t let up and it whisked me away. This was sweet and romantic and had a great storyline of fate and drama, but there is also another story flowing just beneath the surface and that kept me guessing all the way through, will you be like several of the characters in this story and be motivated by her international jaunt to be more true to yourself? Its motivated me to book a trip for when this lockdown is over as I cant wait to see Green Park again, and have a wander around one of my favourite places in London, it was so nice to see it mentioned. A simply wonderful story that I enjoyed alone, but I must admit I don’t think I would be as Brave as the wonderful Lucy.

This book was a light hearted easy read that I enjoyed. Overall it was a little predictable but I still couldn’t put the book down. Lucy Gray has always had a predictable life. When she decides to go on a last minute trip to London by herself, she begins a series of events that takes her on a adventure of a lifetime.

Honeymoon Alone was a fun, light hearted romance tale that I would recommend to anyone who loves a romance that isn’t too heavy! A little cheesy at times, but I found myself smiling SO often while reading this one. I found all characters to be lovable and the plot to be engaging. So happy to have been given the opportunity to read this one!

Ok, but nothing more. If pressed for a read this would be a quick enough one to get through. There is nothing too special about it though. A solo adventure in a beautiful foreign setting (London) had such promise, but I just never connected with main character Lucy (which is always important for me).

Honeymoon Alone by Nicole Macaulay is a contemporary romance. When irrepressibly romantic Lucy Gray is ditched at said wedding by her date in front of her whole family, the promises of a psychic seem better than her pity-riddled reality. The psychic’s advice seems insightful: stop ignoring fate’s signs – fate will lead you to love. But when “fate” leads Lucy to London, she finds herself tangled in a web of lies. In a story about finding independence and taking chances, Lucy learns that leaving everything up to fate can be dangerous – and jeopardize her chances at happily ever after.

Honeymoon Alone is a story that caught my attention right at the begin. Lucy is sweet, reliable, and tired. Everyone expects her to do what they need and while they care about her they never seem to think about what she wants, only what they think is best for her. I could very much relate to her position and emotional state. She takes a chance, takes an impromptu trip, and comedy, romance, and a dash of danger are the result. I like that all of the conflicts and bumbles felt completely natural, and rather like things that would happen to me. I like how the characters were all well developed an d that the story does not frame Lucy as incomplete without romance, but that it would simple not be unwelcome. In much of the book romance takes a back seat to figuring out just what was going on and enjoying Lucy's discovery of London. For those looking for steam, there is none of that here- nothing more than some kisses- but the journey is very much worth the read.

Honeymoon Alone as much a story about Lucy finding herself and figuring out what she wants. I enjoyed the story and am glad I requested it from NetGalley.

This book was the perfect, light-hearted read I didn’t know I needed in my life. I literally read this book in one day (basically one sitting) on my day off work because I was enjoying it so much. It had some similarities with The Unhoneymooners (the book starts at Lucy’s sisters wedding and then she ends up going on her sisters honeymoon) but there was plenty of other stuff going on that made it it’s own story. The writing was great, the cover art is adorable, the characters were perfect (Lucy’s parents kind of reminded me of Mr and Mrs Bennet from P&P!). I would definitely recommend this book if you love Sophie Kinsella or the book The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren.

Lucy has always been the girl to do the normal thing, the predictable thing, the safe thing. So when fate sends her a sign that it’s time to make a change and she takes herself off on her sisters ‘back up honeymoon’ in London, her over-protective family are not only shocked, but worried. After throwing her phone out the window of her London honeymoon flat, it’s time to really take charge of her own life and see London. However that’s not easy when the hotel owners son is on her back every second he can be, trying to figure out where her elusive husband is. Not to mention bumping into the jerk who made her cry back in school. If she can just try and dodge these two guys and focus on herself and London for the rest of her trip, she might actually be able to have the perfect Honeymoon Alone.

(Bookstagram review to come).

“Finally, I’m there.” Honeymoon Alone by Nicole Macaulay

3.5 stars. This book was a nice surprise! Requested it from @netgalley with no expectations. And it was a fun book!

Lucy is sweet and kind and the supporting cast is great! Reading about her trip made me want to travel again. And visit London. Sigh. Maybe next year, when things all settle.

Thank you @booksgosocialgroup and @netgalley for the copy of this book! I enjoyed it!
