What a sweet story. I loved the story of friendship between beaver and bear. Their interaction was fun and the story was fun to read to my son. We loved the illustration style.
This is a short, cute book about friendship, helping each other and problem solving all using a bear and a beaver. Bear wakes up from his winter sleep with an itch. When he heads to his favourite tree to scratch it, it falls down. Beaver had plans to add this tree to his damn. Beaver wants to help his friend find a new tree, so off they go. After some fun and adventure, they still have not found an acceptable tree. Beaver has an idea that solves the problem. An easy to read story, which my grandson and I read together. He is a beginning reader, so when he can read most of the book alone, he is thrilled. We enjoyed this story a lot. The illustrations are cute and funny. I always like when Canadian animals are front and centre in a story. This would be a great book for kindergarten and pre-school classrooms.
Absolutely adorable! This is a very short story, making it great as that "one more please" bedtime read ask for little ones. It's a very simple premise but displays friendship and helping others superbly.
A bear has an itch and has a favourite tree; but when he goes to use the tree it's suddenly on the ground! Because the beaver has chewed it down for his dam. And so they go on a little adventure to try and find bear a new tree; after no success our beaver realizes he can itch for the bear! It's really quite cute and the illustrations are also adorable.
I like the simplicity of this story, narrative and words chosen, and the illustrations. I could see a two-year-old really getting into this one. And it has one of my favourite types of pages in it! A page with one word that is said loud and that kids will learn quick to join in on. In this case it's "crash".
A suitable read for any child under about 5 years old. It might be too simple for those older. It's a safe choice for any situation as a gift.

A cute story about an itchy bear and a beaver. Beaver helps bear find a good tree to scratch his big itch. My daughter and I really enjoyed this story. It’s about friendship and helping each other. We both agreed that bear is very cute and quickly became a favourite character.

THE GRIZZLY ITCH is an adorable tale about a Grizzly Bear who wakes up from his long winter sleep only to find that he has an unBEARable itch.
No problem, he thinks, he'll just wander down to a spot he knows which has the best tree to rub against to get rid of his itch.
To his surprise, a beaver has used his favorite scratching tree in his dam. The beaver and the bear then set out to find a suitable substitute tree.
To bear's surprise, his itch is finally allevied only through friendship.
This is a great story about not only friendship, but perseverance and problem solving. I highly recommend this lovely and gorgeously illustrated children's book for ages 3 to 7.
I rate THE GRIZZLY ITCH as 5 OUT OF 5 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ and think this book would be a great addition to any children's library as well as every Kindergarten to Grade Two classroom.

Absolutely beautiful drawings, cute story and great message! Beaver is such a good friend to help grizzly out, and grizzly helping out beaver in return.
"The Grizzly Itch" is the author's debut book. This is a delightful story that centres around a friendship between a bear and a beaver. It's very enthralling how that friendship comes to be.
"Something woke Bear up from his long winter sleep. He had an itch. It was unBEARable."
He is in agony because it is a Grizzly Itch, one that he can't reach, and he needs to eradicate it. Bear knows just what to do.
He seeks out a tree that is perfect for scratching but when he arrives at the site all the other bears in the forest are scratching away and a big line has formed. Bear has to wait his turn. Finally. Unbeknownst to him Beaver is on the other side of the tree gnawing away. TIMBER! Bear is not amused because his itch isn't ditched! Oh my! Whatever shall he do to rid himself of that unBEARable irritation?
Beaver feels bad when he learns of Bear's dilemma. He takes Bear by the paw and assures him that he knows lots of other good trees and he will be glad to help Bear find one. Unfortunately the trees that Beaver showcase are not suitable and Bear's itch intensifies. As Beaver pacifies Bear by patting his back they discovers exactly what is needed to remedy that pesky itch! Hurray Beaver saves the day!
The illustrations are very well done and greatly enrich the text. They are so well done that they could stand alone and morph the book into a graphic story. The book highlights the elements of friendship, kindness, problem-solving and teamwork. I highly recommend it.
This is kind of a cute story. When Bear wakes up with a terrible itch, he heads to his favourite scratching tree to wait his turn. But then, before he can scratch his itch, Beaver comes along and gnaws down the tree! Feeling bad, Beaver tells Bear he'll help him find a new scratching tree. But none of the trees seem quite right at all. Will Bear's itch ever get scratched?
The illustrations are sweet and humorous. The writing is okay, but the grammar is a little loose. I'm also not clear on why Bear had to climb the tree over the river (other than to give him an excuse to fall out of it). But I like the overall themes of friendship, kindness, and problem-solving.
Overall, it's a fun little book. I'd probably recommend it to fairly young children, though, given the simplicity of the story.
The illustrations for this picture book are delightful! Love the friendship between Bear and Beaver. Although, Beaver, WHY did you cut down that one perfect tree for scratching?!
