Every new Phoebe and Her Unicorn book is better than the last. In this time, it was especially welcome to revisit with Phoebe and her family and friends. The humor is light with moments of unexpected deepness, as well as some further world-building of Marigold's unicorn world. Recommended for children of all ages.

There is nothing better than giggling side by side with your 8 year old daughter. It’s even better when that shared experience is because of a mutual love of books. My daughter and I recently read Camping with Unicorns by Dana Simpson. This was my first reading of a book in this series; however, my daughter has read nearly all of them.

I loved this graphic novel for its mix of childish and adult-like humor. Some of the jokes I appreciated more than she did. Regardless she loved the story all the same. I know this is one my daughter will read again and the book will grow with her as she gets older. The style of humor easily reminded me of Calvin & Hobbes and had me wanting to read more by Simpson. Beyond the humor I adored the vocabulary throughout this novel. I’m a mom but I’m also an educator, so I was happy to see that this novel stretches my daughter’s reading ability and broadens her vocabulary. The struggle is real to find appropriate, interesting books for my 8 year old. Thankfully I’ve found yet another series that she can love and grow into. Thank you to Netgalley and Andrew McMeels publishing for an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for my honest review.

When I saw this book I had to request it because my daughter is obsessed with unicorns. We read this book together and she loved it!

In Camping with Unicorns, Marigold remarks that “when unicorns win, everyone wins.” In my humble opinion, when a new Phoebe and Her Unicorn book releases everyone wins! If you haven’t already enjoyed the Calvin and Hobbes-esque world of Phoebe and Marigold, get ready for parents who speak dork as a native dialect, goblins who make a princess out of her best frenemy, Dakota, the perils of geekdom in middle school, and a host of magical creatures that liven everything up. Dragons vomit candy. Slap bracelets make a comeback. Video games are spawned from vegetation. Despite the dragons and goblins, childhood is depicted authentically – and it’s great fun. For young readers, a glossary is included. And best of all, if you’re new to Phoebe, there’s a whole pile of books in front of this one (though you can enjoy any volume by itself). If this isn’t your first Phoebe book, it’s still a good time to read back through this delightful series before diving into Camping with Unicorns!

Written by 8 year old Molly:

I love all of the Phoebe and Her Unicorn books and I really liked their camping trip in this book! It made me excited to go camping with my stuffed unicorn this summer hopefully :) The pictures were good and some parts were so funny!

I love the Phoebe and Unicorn series and this one didn’t disappoint. I read these books with my k-4th grade children and I read it like a play. They love it and learn new words. The glossary in the back is great. I actually would love to use these in a middle school setting and add the vocabulary in. My 14 year old daughter gets a kick out of the humor, I also enjoy it. It is a book the whole family can enjoy. Marigold is dry humor is one of my favorite. Reading this book as a sorta play with my own children has made for some great family time. This one maybe isn’t as funny as some of the others but I love the artwork in this one.

Phoebe and Marigold never disappoint! This is another delightful look at their friendship. Many laughs to be had and kids will enjoy this next installment with their favorite unicorn—human duo.

*received or free from netgalley for honest review* This was pretty a cute little comic book imo aimed towards young girls, reminds me of calvin and hobbs but with a girl and her unicorn and her unicorn is real lol, has some good humor and cute but simple art.

In this next Phoebe and her unicorn book, she becomes friendlier with frenemy Dakota as summer arrives they hang out at the pool and head off camping too with her other friend. As they tackle card and video game playing, enjoy the school holidays together and all with doses of humour and sarcasm as usual throughout the story!

Another fabulous adventure making me wish unicorns were real in all vibrant scenes!

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

So if you could have any animal be your BFF and have the ability to talk, which would you choose? Having been a huge fan of the movie The Last Unicorn growing up, the appeal of having a unicorn best friend is pretty strong.

Thank you so much to @andrewsmcmeel and @netgalley for this ARC of the 11th book in the Phoebe and her Unicorn series by Dana Simpson, Camping With Unicorns 🦄

.

Synopsis from the publisher: School’s out, so Phoebe and her unicorn best friend, Marigold Heavenly Nostrils, have the entire summer to play games, visit the pool, and even go camping. Unicorn horns are excellent utensils for roasting things over the campfire, too, even if Marigold prefers toasted apples to s’mores. While exploring in the woods, Phoebe and friends meet a unicorn named Alabaster, who uses a special video game console that’s powered by plants. Throughout her summer adventures, Phoebe learns that being cool isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and that it’s much better to be your true self. It’s all part of the unforgettable experience of Camping with Unicorns.

My twins started reading this series back when they were in the 2nd grade, and I quickly became a fan as well. I mean what isn’t to love about a snarky unicorn and a little girl with a very quick wit and endless amount of adventures navigating growing up and having a self centered unicorn as a best friend. My other favorite thing about these books is the amazing vocabulary that both Phoebe and Marigold have. The book has an impressive glossary at the end for younger readers to look up the new words. This book was great new story in the series and enjoyed by all.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

What do you do when school is out? You hang out with your best friend, of course. Phoebe’s best friend just so happens to be a unicorn which makes for a very interesting summer. Marigold Heavenly Nostrils makes everything fun and helps Phoebe to branch out and do different things. They play games, go to the pool and even take a camping trip. And the woods contain a surprise for both of them: another unicorn by the name of Alabaster. Alabaster is pretty cool. He has a special video game console that is powered by plants. How cool is that!
This latest installment in the series contains tons of fun, mischief and magic. This is a fun read, and the illustrations are colorful. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.

The Phoebe and her Unicorn series is just adorable. I’ve read them all and would have loved so much to have had this series when I was younger. As someone who loves camping, I was really excited to read this one and I was not disappointed. Phoebe and Marigold have lots of fun together and this title has their usual silly humor I find hilarious.
Thank you to Netgalley and Andrews McMeel for this advanced copy.

This was one of the most amusing children's books I have read in quite some time. I am very excited to share this series with my daughter! Phoebe and Marigold make a wonderful pair of friends, and through their adventures many lessons can be discovered. I absolutely loved this title and very much look forward to getting my hands on the others in the series!

Thank you NetGalley and publishers for an ARC.

If you are a fan of Pheobe and her Unicorn, you will love this adventure as well. Pheobe is a bit older and some dynamics are maturing as well. I always appreciate Pbeobes humor and wit towards life's troubles.

This is the 11th book in the Phoebe and her Unicorn series. Dakota and Phoebe are moving on from their past. "Rebooting" their friendship. We are spending the summer with Phoebe as she tries to learn how not to embarrass Dakota.

Dana Simpson is the master of one liners. She is so funny. The art is adorable and the book is filled with wonderful gems like Al, the unicorn who spends his time in the woods playing video games.

I know my students will love this title as much as I did.

This series about Pheobe and Marigold Heavenly Nostrils is great. I love all the installments and so do the younger readers here at the library. Keep them coming.

The artwork in this book is nice. It's colorful and pleasing to the eyes. I was expecting this to be a fun read because, hey it's unicorns! However, I was really disappointed in it. I thought it was really boring and it totally missed the mark for me. I'm not sure what the point of this book was, but I didn't get it. Certain parts seemed they were just inserted at random places, I didn't think it was funny at all. I ended up DNF'ing it with about 50 pages left because I just couldn't force myself to finish it.

Camping With Unicorns reminded me of the children's show Go Away Unicorn except this wasn't nearly as funny.

Camping With Unicorns is the 11th book in the Phoebe and Her Unicorn series and the comic strips are just as fun as I remember previous volumes being.
School is out for the summer and Phoebe goes on new adventures with her best unicorn friend Marigold. You see a lot of familiar faces and some new ones as well. I feel like the humor has kicked up a notch to. In the past I’ve thought it a cute comic and something definitely worth suggesting to reluctant readers, and just readers who need a story about a girl who gains confidence in herself with her unicorn friend at her side bolstering her, but this volume felt like the humor was definitely intended for adults as much as kids. I felt like I got more of a kick out of it than usual at least. I love Phoebe and Marigold so much, there friendship is wonderful and shows such great development between the two of them.
