You need to read everything in the series!

There is no way to even try to describe Badger to the Bone by Shelly Laurenston because Max MacKilligan is trying to protect her sisters and when ZeZé (Zé) Vargas gets in the way of an attempted kidnapping. Max decides to save Zé from himself because he doesn’t know he is a shifter and take him with her and her basketball teammates. Max tries to educate Zé about shifters and that is not so easy with the Dunn triplets humming a song and he doesn’t want to believe his eyes!

I love anything Shelly Laurenston has written but each book gets better and better especially in her Pride Series which The Honey Badger Chronicles are part of because you get characters that have been in prior books show up in the books and Miki Kendrick is one of my favorites and I’m hoping at some future time we get to see her daughter.

Read the book because you will laugh constantly at stuff the characters say and do!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Shelly Laurenston is always an entertaining read. Badger to the Bone picks up pretty directly from the second book in the trilogy. As a reader it is really beneficial to have read her earlier works as their are lot's of callbacks, not just to the books in this series, but to her previous shifter series. It also sets up some new characters, giving her room for the series to continue.

Shelly Laurenston is always a must read for me and Max's story was worth the wait. She finds a kitty who is not aware that he is a shifter and chaos ensues. We are introduced to new characters as well as wnd on a huge cliffhanger. You will not be disappointed.

Exciting, action-filled addition to Laurenston's world of shifters. I love reading each new book and learning more about the world that Laurenston has created. Max and Ze's story brings more romance, adventure, and questions, with a hope for more.

The MacKilligan sisters are hybrid shifters but so unique. After reading their story you really will want to be their best friend. This is the third book in the series and the story of Max probably the most bloodthirsty and really rather crazy. Family is everything to Max and there is nothing she will not do to protect her sisters. The humour and sassiness is off the scale and the fact Max and cats in any form do not mix will have you rooting for her with Ze a jaguar shifter who Max is willing to take on big time. The action is ramped up and will take you on a rollercoaster ride.
I would really recommend to read the other sisters stories you will not be sorry and will gain you extra time in the honey badger laugh a minute world.
I was given an ARC of this book by Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Shelly Laurenston is one of my favorite go-to authors for paranormal, suspenseful romantic comedy. That's a lot of adjectives to assign to one book but they all fit. Badger to the Bone is the third book in The Honey Badger Chronicles. I love the writer's dark, laugh out loud humor and her character-filled worlds. I'm assuming there will be a fourth book in the series because she ends each volume with limitless possibilities for her creative genius. Ze is perfect for Max and I know we haven't seen the last of the couple. The author revisits all of her best characters like a family reunion.

ZeZe Vargas is an undercover agent working with some ruthless and deadly kidnappers who have target Max MacKilligan. When Max makes mincemeat of them and rescues him, Ze realizes he is in for a wild ride because not only does he not know about Shifters, he doesn’t understand that he is one. As a latent jaguar shifter, Ze has a lot to learn so Max takes him under her badger claws introducing her new friend and possibly more than friend to crazypants world of lions, tigers, bears, badgers and other assorted species of the Shifter kind.

As a full Honey Badger, Max has a lot of mad skills when it comes to mayhem and taking out the bad guys whether they be humans or Shifters. What is new for her is finding she has a softer side when it comes to the sexy jaguar who sets her own motor to purring. Ze has a huge learning curve so Max feels compelled to be his guide and protector in the strange and dangerous new world.

As usual, the MacKilligan sisters are the focus of more than one group including their own relatives who either want to eliminate them or own Max and her hybrid sisters. Their worthless piece of trash father is causing chaos and major stress especially for Charlie who always takes Freddy’s despicable actions to heart. Not surprisingly, Freddy has a once again found a way to make the girls lives a whole new level of miserable and disgusted.

Max seems like a flat out killer on the surface, but she has a deep well of hidden compassion and loyalty especially when it comes to protecting her sisters. Along with Max’s posse of Honey Badgers whom she plays on a sports team with, the sisters have battles on more than one front as usual. Max’s growing attractions to Ze, her mother showing up, and another whack job cousin bent on revenge gives her plenty to think about and deal with while putting up with the usual bedlam of their Shifter lives.

This third in the Honey Badger Chronicles will more than please fans of this quirky, humorous, and often times raucous series. Ms. Laurenston’s talent for crating stories infused with the sublime to the ridiculous and a high body count will delight everyone who enjoys the life and times of Max, Stevie, and Charlie, underdogs in Shifter society who navigate their world with aplomb, serious claws, and a lot of firepower.

Laurenston continues her Honey Badger series with as much hysterical laughter and accidental (or not) maulings as her previous books. ZeZé Vargas runs into Max MacKilligan when she's kidnapped; he's one of the kidnappers. When Max accidentally outs Ze and realizes he doesn't know he's a shifter, the bloodshed and hijinks begin. Laurenston's humor is truly glorious to behold.

Max's book is here!!! And I am so happy. Ze is the exact type of guy that the happiest honey badger needs. It was perfectly executed. Badgered to the Bone fits into the Laurenton’s world perfectly. Some old favorite characters make an appearance, and have aged exactly as expected. (We even get to see the parenting skills of a favorite couple). This book was full of Shelly Laurenston’s humor. I was smiling the whole time. This is a must read. I will admit that I was a little scared to read this book, because I did not want to leave one of my favorite shifter universe, but thanks to Max’s friends I have hope that Honey Badgers are not done

How did we not see this coming???? Everything we know of Max, her one true nemesis, her weakness when she is home with her sisters, the one who never gives up on annoying her, pursuing her, and that she just can’t back away from, the feral cat in their neighbourhood. Which means, it was only poetic justice, when at 7% into our rip-roaring, loud out loud, action packed tale, she states “That’s my kitty cat. You can’t shoot my kitty cat.”it all made sense

Max doesn’t like cats, never has, and Zé is no exception "And this was why Max hated cats! Tricky, evil, fur-licking cats!" but he wiggles into her conscious and she is inexplicably drawn to him. And what a cat he is, between his antics, "Then, with his gaze still on Dutch, Zé slowly reached over and, with a flick of his wrist, knocked Dutch’s soda out of his hand." And Max’s one-liners “It’s quickly turning into a teddy bear picnic. I thought I’d go out and pick up some liquor.” And the story in general “&#@k!” the last human male exploded. “More badgers!”", I was laughing so hard in places, I had to stop and catch my breath

The attraction is there too, but finding time and place is isn’t easy, as Charlie clearly states to Max, “@#%k the cat on your own time. Let’s go! Let’s go! Let’s go!”, there is always something that needs to be done. When they finally get time on their own, they are explosive together, well matched, physically and emotionally, and Max’s cat has her pegged 😊

There were some emotional moments as well. Settling of some matters with their extended family, and Max coming to the realization that she has a heart and feelings. “Family is family.” That’s what Carlie had taught Max. But it was Charlie who’d taught Max that family only mattered “if they are in it with you. To the end. Do or die.”. Max won my heart, Zé won my heart, and Charlie, Berg, Stevie, Shen, and Kyle, yes Kyle is still around, burrowed deeper into it

And fear not fellow Honey Badger lovers, I don’t think this will be the end….

It has been a long time since I’ve smiled and laughed out loud as much as I did while reading this book! The antics of the last of the three honey badger MacKilligan sisters, Max, gets her story in Badger to the Bone. While in the process of being viciously attacked by her cousin, Max quickly ends that fight and runs toward her own kidnapping. It is here that she meets ZeZe Vargas and turns his whole life around.

This book had so much going on with so many characters that I kind of got lost in a few places. It has been a few months since I’ve read (or listened to) any of this author’s books so I had a hard time remembering who everyone was. But as I kept reading I was able to follow along pretty well.

Overall, Badger to the Bone was a really fun read. Max is one bada$$ honey badger, she is vicious, crazy but so protective as only she can be. And then just imagining what Ze saw when he was brought to Max’s world, now his world, still brings a chuckle. And those scenes with Charlie and the fear she brings out of people around her makes me smile so big! Looking forward to more with these characters.

Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Books for giving me the opportunity to read this complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

In order to review this title, I went back and reread books one and two. Which was helpful. Although I enjoyed this final edition of the crazy sister trilogy, I really found myself doubling down on what I didn’t love about Laurenston’s writing.

Shelley, you are amazing. You create characters that I want to adore, and follow, and see reach hea’s with brilliantly written romantic heroes. I just wish that you didn’t find yourself writing for people who have already read your entire ouvre. I mean, these women that have cameo’s in a Badger are brilliant, but it can actually act to exclude a casual reader. These characters, and this adventure that you have created are awesome. I just couldn’t find myself recommending it to anyone who hadn’t already read everything that you‘be ever written.

So, as much as I live the Honey Badger sisters (and applaud the introduction of a brand new AND deaf sister), I can only give this a three out of five.

What can one way about perfection? Humor and romance marry perfectly in this book with outstanding characters and a great story! Read it now !!!!!

What would a story about Max be like?
I was entertained. The family drama is extensive. Previous characters have cameos. A new shifter runs into Max and she is made responsible for him.
Chaos and violence ensues. Not much romance, but it was still satisfying.

Anyone who has liked previous books in this series will enjoy this installment.

I read an ARC from Netgalley.

I laughed and laughed and laughed. I thoroughly enjoy all of Shelly Laurenston's books and this one was no exception. Fun - a bit all over the place with all the characters - but easy to follow and just hysterical! Can't wait till the next one!

Max is the one you want at your back if your heading into a fight. Max is willing, or should I say voluntarily, be kidnapped instead of being beaten with a crowbar by her cousin. Max rescued Ze, who turned out to be a Jaguar, but didn't know it, when his team turned against him because they thought he was protecting Max. I loved the speech that Max gave Ze's partner. While it was the truth she made herself sound a little crazy to help cover him.

There were so many laughs throughout this book. I wish we could have seen Stevie shift again, that was awesome. I hope they did finish everything with their father, it would be a satisfying ending. I am also very surprised about the outcome with Natalie. I loved seeing Miki again, I really wish we could see her more.

I'm rambling during my review because I can't say enough great things about this book and not.gove away any spoilers. I loved how Ze was like why do I want to climb that tree? Looks at the tree, oh wow i really want to climb that tree. Max was there for her sister when she felt like she needed to have her back during a job. Malone covering for her cousin in a way no one would know she was involved. Dee Ann smiling and saying told you so.

Ok I have been vague and able to say everything I enjoy about this book. These characters are so much fun, dangerous, hilarious, and are a close knit family. I love all of Shelly's books and can't wait to see what she has up her sleeve next.

I loved this story. I giggled through most of it. I was a little apprehensive about reading it because Max has been such and out there character in the past books but the author did a great job of fleshing her out and it was nice to get into her head a bit and see what makes her tick. The hero was fun and interesting as well. The two of them fit together well.

This had me laughing so hard, my sides hurt! I was recommending this to friends before I even reached the 25% mark, it was that good!

Max was one crazy, whack-a-doodle and I loved how protective she was over those she cared about. I’ve never read another heroine like her but she’s the type that I could definitely get used to. With her madcap group of friends she was scary good at taking down the bad guys, or just anyone that ticked her off.

And when it came to Ze, she didn’t do the insta anything. She doesn’t like cats, and Ze was very much a cat...of course, he doesn’t know that.

Watching Ze as he watched the sisters was hilarious. His reactions to them, although mostly internal, kept me in stitches. Theirs was a life he didn’t even know existed and suddenly he was thrust into the center of a house of family full of chaos. Lots of prime material for hilarity.

This story branches off in several directions and while I was a bit confused a time or two, it wasn’t hard to catch up. How the plot all begins to interweave together was a pleasant surprise and made me love this book even more. This is definitely a reread!

I received a free copy of BADGER TO THE BONE (Book 3 of the Honey Badger Chronicles) by Shelly Laurenston in exchange for an honest review. Max MacKilligan is determined to cut down some of the problems causing her sisters stress. Most of her problems are family related; her worthless father is still lurking in the shadows, her rich twin aunts are still trying to kill everyone, crazy pants Mairi MacKilligan seems to have decided that killing Max will solve all of her problems, and the Scottish uncles have moved in. So, Max goes out to resolve the one problem not actually related to her; she’s going to kill the guy who keeps trying to kidnap her: Devon Martin. Max turns herself in to a kidnap squad to get to Devon, but things go a little sideways; the bad guys all go to pieces (mostly literally - with a little help), and Max, hater of all cats not related to her, ends up bringing home a stray.

Zé Vargas has found a niche after leaving the military; he’s working as a mercenary and double agent. Zé’s introduction to Max stirs his protective instincts. Events get a little messy, Zé gets knocked out, and he wakes up on top of a bookcase in a mundane, boringly decorated house. The occupants are as crazy as the house is boring. First, they tell him he is a shapeshifter. Second, they drug him so he has hallucinations consistent with their delusions. Zé wants to report in to his team, but his kidnappers won’t let him go until he’s adjusted to his new “reality.” Soon, Zé is embroiled in the MacKilligan madness. Now, he’s having too much fun to go back to his old life.

Loved it! I really look forward to each of these books. The honey badger books are awesome! I also appreciated the check-in with Bo and Blayne. I recommend this book and the entire series to fans of Shelly Laurenston, of G.A. Aiken, and of romantic comedies with shapeshifters.
