I absolutely loved Max’s story. It was great to see some of the old characters and to see some new characters that could possibly mean more books in this series. It was a little abrupt to learn about max having friends and a team given what we had seen of her in the past but overall I loved the story and the characters.
How do I write a review for this? I've heard people say you are a Shelly Laurenston fan or you aren't. I would say I am a fan, but is everyone as confused as I am. This is my fourth book and I'm still confused. Maybe I need to read everything she's written in some sort of order. I'll check Google.
I was interested to see more of Max and see what kind of guy she ends up with. I did like getting in her head and seeing more of why she does what she does. And I'm always game for the sister relationship. Ze was an interesting character, but he wasn't as developed as I would've liked. I just wanted to know more about him and see his though processes.
There's a larger plot line to the series. Maybe multiple plots. I feel like there are plots I completely miss. And there are so many characters that I struggle to understand their respective relationships.
But Shen. He didn't show up a ton, but I forgot how much I love him. He's such a calming presence and I want a Shen in my life.
I am no stranger to Shelly Laurenston and the Badger community. This book did not disappoint. We get glimpses of old characters and are introduced to new characters - case in point Max's basketball team. They are amazing! What makes this book fresh and different from the other Laurenston releases is that the 'hero' has no idea that he is a shifter. Max knows instantly, but ZeZe doesn't & the mayhem takes off from there. Everyone is still after Max's dad, Charlie is still trying to manage her sisters, they're still being pursued by two homicidal aunts, and through it all Max is still playing professional shifter basketball. I enjoyed this immensely. Shelly Laurenston is a master at incorporating humor, sensuality, violence, and action into a great read.
The third installment of the series focuses on Max, the middle sister of an unconventional set of siblings and Ze, the ex-Marine hired to kidnap her who doesn't know that he is a shifter. The actual story has so many different plots and characters in it that it can get confusing at times, but long time readers will be used to the high energy pace. If you are a new reader, I suggest that you start from the beginning to give yourself the best shot of following along and really getting to know the sisters who are the central characters and their relationship with each other. It is heartwarming in a totally psychotic kind of way and a fun read.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A fun great third installment to this series. I love the humor in this entire series, and this book didn't disappoint. I also enjoyed how Laurenston made Ze such a cat-like character. The only drawback was this book had a lot of storylines, making it a little bit hard to keep up a times. Still, I definitely recommend this book if you've read the first two HoneyBadger books. I think the series as a whole is great read for readers new to paranormal romance because it doesn't get too bogged down in world-building or anything. Just some nice, humorous, violent fun.
Once again I was not disappointed by a book from this author. The laughs, the story telling, the love I have for these characters both old and new is ever growing. I could read and reread every book about these hilarious shifters and their antics all day long. There was never a dull moment and I finished the book the same day I picked it up and started reading. I didn’t stop until their were no more pages left to read. Ms. Laurenston has a way with words that just pull you right in and makes you never want to leave. There was so much action and suspense. I would def like to see these books made into a movie or tv show. I would watch it if it were. I’d def recommend this author to anyone who loves paranormal romance with a lot of laughs and butt kicking.
Badger to the Bone by Shelly Laurenston is one trippy-snarky-hilarious addition to this awesome series. The book is outrageously funny, you'll be highly entertained by Max and her honey badger sisters. However, I have to add that this book is really light on the romance side so if you're looking into heavy sexy times between Max and ZeZé, you might be leaving disappointed. Having said that it is still a book that you must pick up and read. It will leave you in stitches.
I was given a copy by NetGalley, however the opinion above is all my own.
This review is not going to be long. I am not a huge fan of a review rehashing the entire plot and spoiling it for everyone.
I love several of Shelly Laurenston series. That being said, I was truly entertained by this book. I did not think she could come up with a new story line, after all the other books she has written. I was wrong!!! She made me love the shifter world more with this book.
I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
I was given the book to read, Yay me! As always a great read, Shelly Laurenston has a complete world with the honey bagers series, cannot wait for more. The sisters love their men but do not need them if that makes sense. These women do not do typical dating, romance and wedding, Once you are claimed thats it no change backs. I consider her books all must reads, the only bad I can say is its too long til the next book!!!!!
Even though ZeZé Vargas has been hired to kidnap Max MacKilligan nothing goes as planned. While he is plotting their escape he soon learns that Max has other ideas. He learns just how certifiably crazy and just how deadly she is. He finds himself falling for the Asian beauty and her crazy ways.
Max will help Ze learn what he really is and how to come to terms with it. She will take him to her Queens home where he will meet her two sisters and their mates. He will learn what life is really like in his new lifestyle -- the crazy unusual neighbors. Never a dull moment!
Complementary copy given for honest review and opinion.
I kind of got lost in this book with the different events but it was a decent read. I am not sure I would read more from this series.

Shelly Laurenston returns with book three in the Honey Badgers Chronicles! I was really excited about this book because I think of her books as refreshers for me. There are no other books like this series and really, no one else writes quite like Shelly Laurenston.
If you like over-the-top humor that’s a little bit violent and dark, then I think you’ll enjoy this series. The antics that these characters get themselves involved in are really crazy and it’s really fun to watch. However, I don’t know if this book grabbed my attention like the previous books have.
I enjoyed it, but it probably not my favorite of the series. I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series. This series is just too unique to give up on just yet.
The third in the Honey Badger Chronicles tells the tale of Max MacKilligan... the middle of the MacKilligan sisters.
Causing mayhem wherever she goes, only Max can meet a shifter who doesn't know he is a shifter when getting herself kidnapped in the Netherlands... no really only Max!
Like the other books in the series shenanigans occur, stress baking happens, and apparently there is basketball too...
You'd think that this is the end to the Honey Badger Chronicles - but then Freddy MacKilligan... (and that really should be all that needs to be said!
My favourite in this series yet!

Badger to the Bone by Shelly Laurenston
The Honey Badger Chronicles, Book 3
Publisher: Kensington Publishing Corp.
Genre: Paranormal Romance (with a bite 😊 )
ISBN: 9781496714428
Max “Kill it Again” MacKilligan is a Honey Badger shifter. She’s not quite a typical one, because she’s usually rather happy when Honey Badgers are known for being mean, will steal anything they can sell for a good profit, and hard to kill…but never happy. Max likes her life, she plays professional basketball with her crew, goes on the odd job that interests her, and if that entails killing someone that needs it, well, she won’t lose any sleep over it.
ZeZé Vargas was a Marine and when he got out, he joined a team with a friend he got close to while in the service. When Zé’s team is hired to go after a mercenary group to take them out he infiltrates the group and ends up going with them when they’ve been hired to kidnap a woman. When everything goes to hell in a handbasket before his team can get to him to take out the mercenaries, Zé tries to save the kidnap victim, but she ends up saving his ass…amazing since the woman is bat-shit crazy.
Max just wants to live her simple life with a few people bothering her as possible. When she brings a cat shifter home, because he was hanging out with full-humans and had no idea he was a cat. Max figured she’d take him home, since, ya know, he ended up with a crushed skull and he wasn’t walking out if that hanger under his own steam and just tell him he was a shifter and send him on his way but her sister, Charlie, had other ideas. She brought the cat home, and she’d be the one responsible for showing him his new world. Max was not okay with that, but Charlie, being the only person Max would listen to, told her she had to, so she figured she’d recruit some help. Her best friends since junior high, Nelle, Tock, Mads, and Streep, jumped right in, after they figured out what needed to be done and…helped.
I’ll have to say Badger to the Bone is definitely my favourite book in the Honey Badger Chronicles and I simply could not put it down. 5am is not a good time to go to bed… Max, ZeZé, Max’s teammates, Charlie and the bears made this story filled with laughter, violence, new discoveries and just that little bit of romance, totally amazing. There are a bunch of characters from previous books in here, like Cella Malone and Dee Ann Smith, Dez MacDermot-Llewellyn, many of the Group, some Katzenhaus and of course the shifter department of the NYPD, and a few of the BPC. I wasn’t really much of a Max MacKilligan fan before, but after reading her story I found many layers to her personality and parts of her life previously unknown that ended up making her my favourite MacKilligan of the bunch. I absolutely loved Badger to the Bone and I look forward to more in the Honey Badger Chronicles series.

I love this author’s humour!
Humour, romance , steam and a bit of silliness. The perfect read to get lost in especially with what’s happening in the world right now. I had a big smile on my face while reading this and I will definitely be reading it again another amazing read these sisters are so fun!!
I hope there will be more I love these characters.
I enjoyed my visit to this world.
I voluntarily read this book in exchange for an honest review, Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity of this ARC.
Absolutely wonderful and fun read! I have not laughed so much reading a book in a long time! Highly recommend this series, well all of her series!
When I read this book I was giggling...a lot. I’m an accountant. I don’t giggle! As usual, Shelly Laurenston has written another fun and great book.
Just buy it.
Badger to the Bone by Shelly Laurenston is rollickingly funny as the rest of the author’s books and I always have a good time reading them!
I just adore the honey badgers and the honey badger don’t care ethos but Max is probably my favourite with her nuttiness, twisty morality and sheer willingness to gut someone who looks at her sisters wrong. And then to force her to guide new shifter Zé was just the best as it was just a recipe for madcap escapades.
Zé was just adorable as well and I really enjoyed his thoughts as he experienced the shifter world (especially the bears and honey badgers) for the first time. It was really nice getting a bit of an outsider’s view on the world. I could just imagine being the one thinking ‘omg what the hell are you doing????’ and ‘why are you eating that?!’ if I was magically transported into that world 😆
The overarching arc of the Honey Badger series is also furthered along nicely and I can’t wait to see the mad adventure that author takes us on.

Release:
Return to the weird and wonderful world of Shelly Laurenston’s Honey Badgers Chronicles with Badger to the Bone. Max’s book is a rip-roarin’ ride that’s a whole lot of fun, even though there are a lot of missed opportunities.
Badger to the Bone is Max’s story and for those who have read Hot and Badgered and In a Badger Way (which I recommend doing before reading this book) Max was the borderline sociopath MacKilligan sister. I was curious how Ms. Laurenston would turn her into a heroine without doing a character lobotomy. The answer is a bit of a mixed bag. Max is still deadly and full of attitude, but she’s no sociopath. She has previously unknown deep and longstanding friendships beyond her sisters and her best friend Dutch. She’s also far more stable and if not well-adjusted, then the closest approximation you’d find in this world. Because I’ve read the previous two Honey Badger books I found the lack of consistency in her character jarring, as Max didn’t so much grow as a character or reveal hidden layers as suddenly have those layers appear because it suited the story. In terms of storytelling, it felt like some shortcuts were taken. But that doesn’t mean I disliked Max – far from it. She’s violent and crazy, but also fun and caring.
A mad MacKilligan needs an unflappable hero, and ZeZé Vargas was a delicious one. Zé has no idea he’s a shifter at the beginning of the book so watching him discover this part of himself he never knew was a delight. Zé is so catlike it was hilarious and I can’t count the number of times he made me laugh. I really liked Zé and Max together, but their romance did feel at first underplayed and then rushed. I wish it had developed more organically. I also wish Zé had played a bigger role in the events of the story, but he was mostly an observer which was a pity.
There are a number of plots to be tied up in Badger to the Bone and a host of familiar faces from both this series and the Pride series show up to play a part. I can’t say much without spoiling things, but I did enjoy watching everything come together. If I had one issue it was that Max and Zé were distanced from many resolutions, which was a bit frustrating. I wanted them to be more important to their own story than they were.
Badger to the Bone is a difficult book to put a star rating on. There were so many missed opportunities that I am saddened by. However, I had a genuinely wonderful time reading this book. It was fast-paced, funny, and totally bonkers – I loved reading it. Ultimately this book is like cotton candy: thoroughly enjoyable but missing substance. But hey, who doesn’t like cotton candy once in a while?

Badger To The Bone is hilarious. I loved it. I think it might be my fave book of the series and I loved the first two books. I've been waiting for Max's book and it totally didn't disappoint. It was funny, quirky and violent. It was everything I'd hoped for and so much more. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I love this series and highly recommend it.
